Ben Carson now wants to make future debates, well, less like a debate

Posted: Oct 31, 2015

Each candidate will give a statement.

No debate.

And fewer of them.

.....this gets stranger and stranger

The GOP candidates need to stop whining, put on their big-boy/girl clothes, and put their best ideas forward in the debate format that has worked well for my whole life. Just because they have no understanding of the issues and have no commendable ideas to put forth, it's still not okay to just do away with the debates. They need to just deal with it and if it's too hot for them, get out of the kitchen.

;

I would rather make the debates longer and tougher - Not just run for the cover of pre-written messages

[ In Reply To ..]
That's totally not okay to just read a pre-written message and call it done. That is so lazy and inadequate. If they can't handle it, they need to drop out.

I'm seeing this meme about republicans lately, whiney, - The New Republican Party,

[ In Reply To ..]
same words over and over again. It comes from the New York Times opinion pieces, which is where the MSM get their news.

For me the description of WHINERS for the GOP candidates was original with me - I do not like whining in children or adults

[ In Reply To ..]
I don't read the New York Times.

I get my news from watching every minute of both party debates.

The Democratic debate had tough questions. I saw a comparison of the questions of the Democratic and GOP debates and they were about equal in tone.

The Democratic candidates didn't complain. They turned it into an opportunity to discuss the issues.

The Republican candidates whined about it and decided not to play anymore because the questions were unfair to them, aka too tough and they weren't prepared to answer them.

Whining is what the new Republican Party does best. That and saying NO! to everything. They cannot govern themselves. How can they hope to govern a nation? They can't. They won't. They are ripping their party apart while the Democrats calmly, intelligently discuss the issues, and the Democrats are winning because they discuss the issues instead of whining. They are winning because they take tough situations and work hard to solve the problems. They don't just yell "Liar!" (Ted Cruz) and they don't just yell "No!" to everything (the GOP House members).

We're becoming a one-party nation, because the GOP is self-destructing. I'm not happy about that, but facts are facts.

They all use the same talking points. You can play back to back - montages and it's hilarious.

[ In Reply To ..]
If gravitas is the word of the day, they all use it. If do nothing Republicans is the meme of the day, they all use it.
I like "social justice" which is socialist/communist term for being - entitled to another person's work.
[ In Reply To ..]
Somehow that's "justice." It makes nauseous every time I hear it.
You can watch the Sunday MSM talking head shows and find out - what the hook phrase of the week is,
[ In Reply To ..]
depending on the issue; immigration, amnesty, discrediting the tea party, executive orders, etc. They will all SAY THE SAME THING.
and it will be repeated here ad nauseam - because
[ In Reply To ..]
well, you know why.
I'd rather have a muffler repair guy of a Piggly Wiggly - clerk ask the questions than some left wing
[ In Reply To ..]
hack moderator.

These debates are phony. The legion of hypocrites and - enemedia don't realize that many of us

[ In Reply To ..]
don't buy their garbage.

It was a pitiful display by CNBC the other night; the one candidate who truly stood out and above the cesspool of media questions was Ted Cruz.

Totally agree. Who even watches CNBC? - nm

[ In Reply To ..]
xx

Democratic party - only 6 debates - waste of our time anyway

[ In Reply To ..]
They won't allow Fox news to put one on because they know they will ask tough questions - so we get to sit and watch the news media fawn over the candidates and we don't learn anything we don't already know about them.

The dems control the echo chamber just as they did at the debates, - and declare who or what they think

[ In Reply To ..]
is offensive. They may not know the hypocrisy or moral decay they represent.

Everyone in the nation knew what fools the moderators made of each other except the moderators themselves and the hard core extreme left.

They want no debates. Just read their statement and no questions - Really?!

[ In Reply To ..]
These people never cease to amaze us with their silliness. They are definitely not presidential material if they can't defend their views on important issues. But no! Just want to read a statement. No questions allowed. Really?!

That's a bold-faced lie! He wants an opening and - Truthhurts

[ In Reply To ..]
closing statement and he wants a SERIOUS question and answer debate, not the stupid questions that were asked in the last debate.

They aren't whining. They just want fairness. They want above-board questions that allow them to answer about the issues and plans. None of the MSM debates have allowed that. They have been quick to smear them and try to get them to fight with each other. You don't see that type of crap happening in the Demonrat's debates. They're all above-board.

Goes to show how the MSM leans so left they'll fall over if they lean an inch further.

Once again, you are 100% correct. - SM

[ In Reply To ..]
The libs and their MSM mouthpiece(s) are the whiners complaining because their true colors became very apparent to the intelligent among us. The libs are once again pitifully attempting to deflect away from their own inadequacies. All I see from them is the same vitriol and hate-filled rhetoric repeated over and over. It actually makes me feel sorry for the disdain they appear to carry in their hearts.

The Democrat party is the CPUSA (Comminist Party of - America). In 1963, their

[ In Reply To ..]
Communist goals were recorded in the Congressional Record. In 1964, LBJ implements massive socialism (welfare). In 1988, CPUSA begins endorsing EVERY Democrat candidate for US President. In 2008, the Democrat party had adopted 90% of Communist goals. In 2008, CPUSA endorsed Comrade Obama. In 2012, CPUSA endorsed Comrade Obama. In 2015, CPUSA acknowledges they use Democrat party as it's vehicle to implement Communism.

2015, Democrat party equals the Communist/Socialist party.

They think that because they have money... - Disgusted

[ In Reply To ..]
that they are "above" the law. This attitude carries over to everything else, too. They don't want to be placed on the so-called "hot seat," so they are inventing ways not to be. They just don't feel they should have to be put "on the spot" because they have money and privilege, which the ordinary riff-raff do not have. They do not want to deal with questions from the riff-raff that could put them in an uncomfortable position. Remember, money talks -- b*lls**t walks! I hope they do not get away with this.

Debates should be identical for both parties.... - Even the questions could be identical

[ In Reply To ..]
Same number of debates - same monitors - same networks putting them on - the democrats couldn't opt out of Fox Business and the questions that CNBC asks would be the same questions they have to ask the democrats - so maybe they would be a little more respectful in their questioning.

The candidates would know the questions, but they wouldn't know which debate it was going to be asked in so they would have to be prepared for all questions from the beginning - a democrat might get a question in the first debate and a republican might not get that same question until the 10th debate....more time to prepare an answer on some questions, but no time to prepare on some.

Fair?

A debate isn't a debate if the debaters know all the questions beforehand - They need to think on their feet

[ In Reply To ..]
A president has to know how to think on his or her feet. I don't like the idea that the candidates will know all the questions so they can memorize answers and decide to just not show up if it's going to be a tough question that they don't want to answer.

How Important Are The Debates?Oct 01, 2012
I plan on watching, but my vote is already decided.  I don't expect, however, to hear any real ideas or specifics from either side - it seems that it's usually a live campaign commercial.  Every once in a while someone gets in a good one-liner, but it's just usually attacks, rebuttels, and questionable facts and figures. How do you feel about the debates?  Do you think they could change your mind on a candidate or if you're undecided, will they help you decide ...

Debates Obviously Do Not Decide Elections.Oct 12, 2012
I have not been happy with O's performance the last 4 years.  However, I am not sure he is totally to blame for the state of our economy, debt, and job situation.  The R fully admit that what was dumped in his lap was tremendous.  Much of the debt technically does not even belong to O.  The rest, I believe he had no choice, as we were actually looking at a depression.  As Clinton stated, NO president, R or D, could fix these problems in 4 years. Even though I just ...

to make 1 comment about the certificate. It wasn't the birthers that started this. They just ran with it all these years. It was Hillary's camp during the 2008 campaign that started all this, or did you all forget about that? That's all I have to say about that. Now, some facts about why I will not vote for Obama: 1. President Obama promised to close Gitmo. Did he? 2. President Obama promised in March that the Libyan War would be short term? Is it? 3. President Obama promised ...

Poor Hillary, Intimidated In Debates By Big, Bad Donald TrumpAug 24, 2017
Poor Hillary. Big, bad Donald Trump got so close to her during the presidential debate last fall, she says, that he “made her skin crawl.” “Morning Joe” broadcast a recording of Mrs. Clinton reading that revealing snippet aloud yesterday, her plain, hard intonations trying to excite interest in “What Happened?” her new book purporting to explain why she lost the election. The passage, which recounts her musing about how she should react to his looming presence, evokes several r ...

Rep Andre CarsonAug 31, 2011
I understand the tea party group is pretty unpopular these days, but is this really a fair assessment?  IMO, the majority of the tea party members do not want to return to a day of slavery or lynching and it's completely unfair to group all the tea party members in with a few that might be racist.  I don't always agree with the tea party, especially the freshman members in congress, but I'd be willing to bet none of them want to hang anyone from a tree. Thoughts?  ...

Dr. Benjamin CarsonFeb 12, 2013
I watched part of his speech at the prayer dinner while Obama sat there looking angry and in his own thoughts. He said he prayed before he went up there to talk to ask God to give him the right words to say. And he did. Future Of The GOP: Big Changes Are Inevitable, But All Agree ItNov 05, 2012
