Pretty soon, the left is going to lead the charge to take all religious interpretations out of names of cities and people. Can you see just about every city in California changing it's name, i.e., San Diego, Santa Barbara, San Francisco, Sacramento, etc. You get my drift. Also, every person with "chris" in their name will be forced to change it. No more Christopher, Christine, Christianne, etc. No more Jesus either. Won't that be a hoot. The ILLEGALS will love that one!

Orwell is mentioned in some recent posts. Orwell later on realized that when freedom of expression is stamped out, totalitarian dictatorships move in. I also like his analysis on how the news reports to suite a political agenda (my words not his). PC is anti-freedom of speech.

The Supreme Court of the United States didn't magically create a war on religion in a decision that our government will now recognize the marriage of two people regardless of gender. The SCOTUS decision requires no one to change their religious beliefs in any way, shape, or fashion. Those with a different opinion or different religious beliefs do not have to practice gay marriage; they just cannot now use the force of government to force their exclusive view of how life ought to be lived onto others who don't necessarily agree with them, and that's actually a good thing.

Totalitarianism is a political system in which the state holds total control over society and seeks to control all aspects of public and private life. I submit that the equality of same sex couples by the state actually removes barriers that religion seeks to impose, and again, that really is a good thing, a step in the direction of freedom for all Americans to make their own choices, which freedom has been denied to citizens until the recent SCOTUS decision.

Then explain to us all how the removal of a barrier that denies a class of Americans the opportunities afforded to their fellow citizens is a barrier to freedom of expression. This decision by the SCOTUS is an expansion of freedom. The fact that it doesn't necessarily agree with anyone's individual religious dogma should not concern the state, particularly here in the United States where we make no laws with respect to any particular religion.

No one is asking anyone to change their religious beliefs, and anyone that is "telling you that" or "selling you that" probably has their own political agenda they need your help with. Don't fall for it. Allowing others the freedom you enjoy in no way takes away from the freedom you've always enjoyed.
