You do not want others to think you are nuts?

Posted: Jan 19, 2013

I read and think, cannot get any more crazy and yes it does. The football player who supposedly in love (and involved with) a person he has never even met? The football player said he kept up with the story because did not want people to think he was crazy. Well, guess what, I think right now you probably are in need of some very professional assistance. You have the money and you need to put it to some good use. To say you have a girlfriend (or boyfriend for that reason) and are in love with them and play it up to any and all that will listen and they are just a figment of your imagination, you are really out there in a big way. It seems sad because have people just gotten to the point where reality does not play a part in their lives anymore? Thank goodness, all reality here because I shared my bed last night with a man who actually turned out to be the same one I married several years ago. ;

??? - totally lost.

what is the point of this post? completely do not understand.

I think she is talking about a news story story she read; sounds - like something I just came across on MSN.

I didn't read all the story, but I think thats what she's talking about.

Bizarre story for sure, but...sm - Dewey

what I find most odd is, according to a news story last night, "catfishing" is or is becoming quite popular. Never heard of it myself until last night, but apparently people have years-long romantic relationships strictly by phone and online, never meeting face to face. I have grown suspicious in my old age and would have to meet in person, otherwise would wonder if it were a prank.

Guess should not take for granted - PR

that most people watch the news as this is a story playing out right now. Dewey, how in the world can you have a relationship, fall in love, etc. without ever meeting a person and in this incident, there was no such person to start with. Maybe like you with the age thing, so leery of things that just do not sound right and to make up/not be involved as guess they have not figured out this one yet just blows my mind.

Sounds pretty interesting. Im gonna have to check it - out. You all have me curious.

headed for CNN/MSNBC right now; if its not still on, I will google it.
My catfishing info was off a bit, sorry...sm - Dewey

Just looked it up on Google, and this is the opening statement from Wikipedia:

"A "catfish" is a person who creates fake profiles online and pretends to be someone they are not by using someone else's pictures and information. These "catfish" use social media sites like Facebook and Twitter, usually with the intention of getting other people or a person to fall in love with them. MTV and the producers of the 2010 documentary film Catfish send Nev Schulman and his friend and filmmaker Max Joseph to help couples who have never met in real life. They want to know if the person they have had a relationship with and fallen in love with is the real deal or if they are a "catfish." Some couples have been together for a few months, others have been together for years."

As my older brother said, we live in different times than we are used to.
Older too, but realistic and not foolish - P

If others want to look and play the fool, that is them but why would you put yourself in such a situation and then carry on with the charade knowing it was false and then saying they did it so as not to look like a nut? Hmm, if it looks like a, walks like a, talks like a - well you get it.

I Must Be NutsAug 08, 2011
In a bit of a situation and I'm not sure what to do about it.   I'm divorced with teens.  The ex has very little contact with me or the kids and we are all fine with that.  He was always absent even when he was physically there anyway.  I have a boyfriend who is also divorced, no kids.   His ex walked out on him the final time after having left him several times in the past.  Not to mention she was constantly looking for her "next" husband on Match.com an ...

This Is NutsAug 31, 2014
Okay, so this is nuts. I am looking for a non-MT work-at-home job. I went on a couple of websites, and many of the jobs require that I speak English AND Spanish. REQUIRED. Okay, so I have to learn their language, but they don't have to learn mine? When my grandpa came to this country back when the hard-working immigrants were making this country, nobody catered to his language of Italian. If he didn't learn to speak English, he couldn't survive here. More, unless he took a cou ...

Drives Them NutsMar 23, 2011
This is what drives the Democrats in my state absolutely nuts. Tax credits for business will make their head spin. But, here's how it works in very, very simple terms, since I'm certainly not an economist (and I want to go to bed early tonight)  :-) Here's how it works: -company gets tax break/incententive to invest in the area -company uses money to expand/build/hire employees -employees become tax payers - off unemployment, food stamps, or other gov't assistance ( ...

Can we assemble a multi-course menu of diseases and symptoms?  (My vote would be preferably withOUT getting scatological, being as I'm pretty sure all of us here are older than 8, or 10, or whatever that age is.) I'll start off the menu with a nice word salad! ...

Political Correctness Is NUTS!!Jul 13, 2015
Pretty soon, the left is going to lead the charge to take all religious interpretations out of names of cities and people. Can you see just about every city in California changing it's name, i.e., San Diego, Santa Barbara, San Francisco, Sacramento, etc. You get my drift. Also, every person with "chris" in their name will be forced to change it. No more Christopher, Christine, Christianne, etc. No more Jesus either. Won't that be a hoot. The ILLEGALS will love that one! ...

By Andrew McLemoreWednesday, April 28th, 2010 -- 9:42 pm During an appearance on the radio show of Fox News’ Alan Colmes, prominent tea party leader Tom Tancredo made it clear he believes President Obama may not be an American citizen, Think Progress reported. The former GOP congressman responded to questions about a statement he gave to a group of tea partiers: “If his wife says Kenya is his homeland, why don’t we just send him back?” Tancredo was referring to a speec ...
