Fact Check. Obama never voted "present" in the US Congress. sm - VTMT

He voted "present" in the IL senate many times, because in that state senators vote "present" when they like the bill but don't like the amendments.
Thank you! - nm

"In January 2008 the National Journal published its rankings of all U.S. senators -- based on how they had voted on a host of foreign and domestic policy bills -- and rated Barack Obama "the most liberal Senator of 2007." "Obama’s [foreign policy] liberal score of 92 and conservative score of 7 indicate that he was more liberal in that issue area than 92 percent of the senators and more conservative than 7 percent," the researchers explained. In the area of domestic policy voting, the study found that "Obama voted the liberal position on 65 of the 66 key votes on which he voted … [and] garnered perfect liberal scores in both the economic and social categories."

The leftist organization Americans for Democratic Action (ADA) similarly rated Obama’s Senate voting record at 97.5 percent. By contrast, the American Conservative Union (the ADA’s ideological antithesis) gave Obama a rating of 8 percent.

Around July 19, 2007 -- after slightly more than five months had passed since he had declared his presidential candidacy -- Obama clearly became far more focused on campaigning for his White House run, than on performing the legislative duties for which he had been elected to the U.S. Senate. From that date through May 22, 2008, Obama voted on just 34 percent of all the bills that came before the Senate. On the other 66 percent, he cast no vote of any kind, either for or against the legislation in question. "

Exactly. Also votes can change regardless of - party affiliation based on the time of the vote

What was the amendment buried in the bill/law? What was the desire of the voter's when the vote was taken?

Look how many Democrats have stepped forward and said they would never have voted for Obamacare because they were so grosslsy misled and had no idea what was in it.

A lot to be said for actually reading the bills/laws and listening to what your constituents have to say about current events.

Thanks so much for posting this site.  For the benefit of those who didn't know they were supposed to "click" to see Ryan's voting record, I've copied it and am hoping it will come through here in its entirety, as it's a very long list.  It basically reflects the continuation of the wars we selectively start, and it doesn't care very much for health benefits for any American citizen.  (I find that interesting because every time we invade and demolish other countries, we include universal healthcare as things we include to help the people of all these countries.)

What Has Obama Accomplished?Sep 16, 2012
His list of accomplishments is too long to post here; so if you want the answer to that question, here's a breakdown:   http://pleasecutthecrap.typepad.com/main/what-has-obama-done-since-january-20-2009.html ...

Primary Mission Not Accomplished For GOP.Nov 07, 2012
Wow....instead of working together with the President of the United States on improving our country, doing the peoples' work, and trying to be fair to all Americans, the GOP members of Congress chose making Obama a one-term president as their #1 goal.  All those hours working on obstruction, all those missed opportunities to do good things for this country, all that money down the drain.  I would grade that a "Major Fail" of their #1 goal.   ...

Really Great Things Our Country Has AccomplishedApr 19, 2011
We really can do better. I know we can because we have. We just need to remind ourselves and our political leaders that there are solutions to problems, if we focus on the problems and not the politics. When I hear that it is impossible for us to fund Medicare or continue giving milk to children who would otherwise go hungry, I wonder what happened to the old America. What happened to the America that used to be able to accomplish things beyond our expectations. Here are some of the ones I woul ...

One Of Paul Ryan's Best And Most May 27, 2011

The current president isn't doing that. Our nominees should do that." This man gets it.  I don't care what party he is...he gets it. ...

Ryan: Rape Is Just Another Aug 27, 2012
In an interview with Josh Smith, WJHL-TV out of Richmond, VA, when asked where he stands on the question of legal abortions for rape and incest victims, Paul Ryan replied: "I'm very proud of my pro-life record, and I've always adopted the idea that, the position that the method of conception does'nt change the definition of life."   Lah-dee-dah.  Rape is just another legitimate method of conception.  This should erase any doubts on where he stands, and demolish an ...
