Ryan's Medicare plan

Posted: Aug 14, 2012

. . . the federal government's. If it's good enough for them . . . The NYT said Ryan has the same plan for Medicare as federal employees enjoy (published 04/18/2011). Also, Ryan wrote this: "Starting in 2022, new Medicare beneficiaries will be enrolled in the same kind of health care program that members of Congress enjoy." His op-ed about this was published in the WSJ. Sounds good to me!;

were paid at least the minimum federal wage, and allowed to retire....as opposed to McDonald's...or better yet...those who can't find a job because they simply are not there. It's nice to say that all can buy into the same program. Unfortunately, the reality of the situation is that not everyone has the money to "buy" anything.

Healthcare is a right...not a product.

You beat me to this post - Posters here are so MISINFORMED, it is hysterical

Ryan plan also provides for the 54 and younger group the following:

A CHOICE of standard, traditional Medicare or the plans you stated above. If someone does decides they do not like the standard Medicare, they chose the other insurances available or the insurance THEY want. If they change their mind either way, there is a yearly open enrollment whereby they can switch back and forth. It is also mandatory for health facilities to post a UNIFORM price for ALL patients; so, fees can be reviewed at any time.

Funny how Obamacare removes ALL choices for ALL people and the die-hard Obama worshipers love it. They love Obamacare subsidies (but never metnion YOU have to spend several thousound out of your own pocket before you get a dime). Obamacare tells you what care you can have, when you have it, guts Medicare by 770-bill (latest tally), does away with Medicare Advantage and many other plans to force seniors on Medicaid, and you pay for every slob that refuses to work. If you don't you have the IRS knocking on your door.

Give them choices in the health insurance plans, tax breaks regardless of their income level, subsidies for the poor and the elderly (all included in Ryan's plan), the same plan Federal workers have and they claim he wants to kill Grannie. Shows you the fathoms to which their hatred for any common-sense approach delves. Also, shows you how hypocrital they are and how poorly informed...just spew out the DNC talking points. Notice how the Obama worshipers always forget to mention the Dems that supported this insurance?

As it has been said many times; Obamacare has nothing to do with healthcare and everything to do with control.

here's the thing... - sm

Ever hear that joke:
Q: What's a camel?
A: A horse designed by committee

Obamacare has been chiseled and modified and resculpted and adapted along its winding course by various political forces. Congress refused to work together to keep this thoroughbred out of the glue factory.

I see why you did not link - another assumption

I guess you have to read further than the first sentence to get the context. Do you think people are that lazy they will not check on what you are trying lie with?

WASHINGTON — House Republicans say their budget proposal would make Medicare work just like the health insurance that covers federal employees, including members of Congress. But a close examination shows the two plans are very different, and the differences help explain why the Republican plan has set off a political uproar.

Jeffrey Phelps/Associated Press
Protesters in Kenosha, Wis., on Tuesday sought the attention of Representative Paul D. Ryan over the House budget proposal.

Under the federal employees’ health plan, which covers eight million people, the government pays a fixed share of premiums. So the federal contribution generally keeps pace with rising premiums, which in turn reflect rising health costs.

No such guarantee exists under the Republicans’ plan to transform Medicare, approved by the House on April 15 as part of a budget blueprint.

Under the Republican plan, Medicare would pay a shrinking share of beneficiaries’ total health costs, and seniors would pay a growing share. For a typical 65-year-old, that share would be 68 percent in 2030, more than twice what it would be under current law, the budget office said.

Ummm - the poster did "link,"

so to speak. If anyone is interested they could look up both in the New York Times and the Wall Street Journal the articles that the poster was referencing. He/she even gave one specific date. It didn't take me long to find them, so I'm sure if I can, anyone can. ;)

I found link also - So quick to try and discredit a poster

Why wait until 2022? Everyone should be insured - under the same system starting now. nm

People In Nursing Homes Have The Most To Fear From Ryan's PlanApr 14, 2011
Those in nursing homes have the most to fear from Paul Ryan's plan, but their families will have to try to support them. That means they will give up (1) retirement funds including 401Ks, IRAs, (2) college funds , (3) homes (4) plans for the future. This is a cruel plan.
