Progress implies moving forward. It's sad that you think that progressive ideas are not worth your time. Which of your other choices is more appealing to you, regression or stagnation? Those are all you have left to choose from.

Maybe you should look at the results of all the progressive/regressive policies that have been instituted throughout the years. Regression and stagnation is what we have. Get outside your box and come to our neighborhoods here in the barrios and ghettos of America. Thanks to progs policies, we have more poverty than ever before.

PS: "Progress" implies forward then downwards.

in the barrios and ghettos, other than perpetual Obama attack mode, platitudes and keeping his own agendas clutched tightly to his chest until after the just-trust-me-election? I hear he doesn't worry much about the poor. He's chosen the Ryan plan approach to the "entitlement emergency" (his words), a concept he equates to shiftless "dependency". We've all heard him mouth the word "jobs" hundreds of times, but can't seem to attach the word "plan" to it, and he chokes on the polysyllabic "specifics" part.

Did he flip-flop on his Massachusetts veto of funding for the homeless policies? Did he expand on his plans to redirect federal funding from welfare programs to Church coffers, so recipients can receive a little indoctrination along with their bare-bones "assistance"? Did he explain where they could find those IMMEDIATELY mandated jobs? Did he explain how imposing tough mandatory minimum sentences for offenders would help lift them out of poverty and why that should be part of his war on poverty, like it was in Massachusetts? Did he say anything about how Ryan's slash and burn campaign to gut assistance programs addresses the poverty those programs aim to help? What about initiatives to increase the wages of the working poor. Anything?

What makes you think I have to travel outside of a box to know what's happening in barrios and ghettos? I grew up in the Ghettos of Detroit and lived there for 34 years of my life. I've seen and experienced the unfairness and injustice of our laws before the Civil Rights movement of the 60s. I know first hand how far progressives have advanced this country with policies that have helped to even the playing field for all of us. Those policies helped to create the middle class and brought a lot of people out of poverty. Those policies helped get people educated, trained, and working. Poor conservatives (aka tea party folks who don't even come close to earning $250k per year and will never benefit from conservative policies) are being bamboozled into believing Republican/conservative policies help them. I really would like to understand how they manage to do that; so maybe you can tell me what it is about conservative policies that work for you. And I’m not being facetious; I really want to know.

Every president can make a list of things he did, but what is/are the result(s) of what he actually did? No way has the majority of the things he has done helped this country. You know the jobs he saved? Teachers. Really? They are paid by US, the TAXPAYERS! What about manufacturing, show me the proof he saved something there. People who actually PAY taxes. You can't get blood from a rock people. Keep going this way and we ALL will be dependent on the government. No thanks.

I just heard that today Obama signed the Tribal Law and Order Act.
