Ryan speech...sm

Posted: Aug 29, 2012

So, Ryan is up there whining about the GM plant that closed in his home town and how that's all Obama's fault. News flash: That plant closed in 2008 before Obama took office.

I think I counted about 12 lies during that speech. Awesome candidate.

;

Ryan hit a home run! - Super-great speech.

Not an empty promise in the bunch. That was amazingly patriotic and uplifting. Way to go, Ryan!

It's a big country and people need to stick together to get things done. One person alone can't make a dent in that problem.

And if you're speaking about NAFTA, President Clinton expanded it further than GHWB and Obama and SOS Clinton expanded it even further this year.
Canadian MTs never really had that great an - impact on American MTs

And, since most Canadians are English speaking, their work isn't garbage. Mexico never has been a destination (as far as I know) for outsourcing transcription work. It's India and other places overseas that botch the work and work for slave wages compared to US/Canadian wages.

See links. Attempt to do anything about offshoring didn't work out too well.

Information must always be checked.... - SK
[ In Reply To ..]
The frustrating thing about "facts" and "numbers" is that they can so easily be massaged to fit what one wants to see. It actually takes a lot of time to find as facts from as independent a source as possible and look at them objectively.

I TRY to do that (although it's difficult to find those "independent, non-partisan" sources), and from what I've seen, Ryan's numbers make sense. He's definitely a numbers guy, which can be difficult for me to comprehend because I'm not, but what he says makes sense to me.
Someone just posted a link up above - sm
[ In Reply To ..]
It's getting to the point where the lies don't even need fact checking because they've already been fact checked.

I'm not a democrat, but there's no possible way that I can vote for R/R. However, if I was up in the air and undecided, I wouldn't appreciate being lied to. When someone lies to you, they assume you're gullible and doubt your intelligence.

According to a local source (the Milwaukee Journal), the Janesville GM plant ceased production of SUVs in 2008, but the plant was not idled until 2009.

Quoting from the linked article... "Since they were shut down in 2009, both the Janesville and Tennessee plants have been on standby status, meaning they were not producing vehicles, but they were not completely shut down."

A good example of how both sides can claim "lie."

It's about how you look at the information.

My election plan.... - SK
[ In Reply To ..]
I have a huge plan for election reform that, personally (I say, brushing off my shoulders), I think is BRILLIANT.....

The American people should be able t collectively create a 100-question questionnaire pertaining to national concerns that each candidate has to fill out and present to the people during the campaign. And if they're elected, they have to ABIDE BY THEIR ANSWERS and FULFILL THE PROMISES THEY MAKE.

Brilliant, eh?

My plan hasn't progressed to what the American people would be able to do to them if they don't fulfill their promises.... That would be stage II of the plan.

Comparing Paul Ryan to Eddie Munster or some actor on Glee is just a joke... and he looks A LOT like the guy from Glee in that pic. If something like that was done to Obama, it really would be no big deal. Please note that the pics of Mitt (who is very handsome and in no way looks like Herman Munster except for the facial expression he was making matches) and Paul were untouched, and the Glee picture is the actor from the show and not Paul Ryan at all.

However, I saw some of the pics that were going around about Obama, and I don't remember any of them except for the racist ones. Please don't eye roll, because I'm not exaggerating.

Go go Google Images and type in "Obama Funny" and hit search, and you'll see exactly what I mean. There's a lot of racist and offensive stuff there such as Obama as Hilter, Obama with a bullet hole in his head, Obama as Bin Laden, Obama as Satan, Obama with KFC... it just keeps going.

However, I did find one... just like the type that I posted but with Obama... to make you feel better. "Fair and Balanced" joking I guess has to be the standard.

However, while December 2008 saw the end of the vast majority of the plant’s work, the Gazette itself has reported that the plant didn’t close fully until April 2009. Here’s a timeline:

June 2008: GM announces that the Janesville plant will stop production of medium-duty trucks by the end of 2009, and stop production of large SUVs such as the Chevy Tahoe and Suburban and the GMC Yukon in 2010 or sooner, depending on market demand.

December 23, 2008: SUV production ends, and more than 2,000 GM workers are laid off, according to the Gazette. Medium truck production continues.

April 23, 2009: The plant’s medium-duty assembly line, which produced an Isuzu line, closes, ending vehicle production at the plant and resulting in the loss of 57 production jobs, according to the Gazette.

GM then put the plant on standby, meaning it could reactivate the facility if it decides it needs to ramp up production.
