Excellent. It's about time that these measures were recognized and tossed out as discriminatory nonsense.

If a party has to resort to voter suppression to win elections, then perhaps that party needs to change itself!

Scott Walker Wisconsin--Big Red F - Fail

[ In Reply To ..]
I sure hope Scott Walker gets voted out. Wisconsin's unemployment rate is 5.8% and across the bridge in Minnesota it is 4.5%. Wisconsin is looking at a budget deficit of a $1.8 billion dollar shortfall. Minnesota, across the bridge has a $1.23 billion dollar surplus. Minnesota is paying off debts and investing in education, Wisconsin is lining the pockets of corporations.

Going to have to move.

How are the John Doe and John Doe 2 - investigations going?

Maybe Governor Wrong Way is due for an October surprise. One can only hope.

I live in a state that has had voter ID for ages. It works well for us.

You people see to much in this.

This would curtail illegals from voting.

Register - TomQ

[ In Reply To ..]
Illegal immigrants voting is not a issue however, because one must be a citizen to register to vote, and one cannot vote without being registered.

To say Voter ID is intended to keep illegals from voting is disingenuous.

I guess you haven't heard of the voting fraud. It's out there.
Very little voter fraud - actually occurs
[ In Reply To ..]
That has been proven time and again. A small percentage, most of which is simple mistakes. I would link to a study, but I guess it would not be believed.

It is simply a myth that's not true. You cannot get your name on the voter roll unless you are a citizen.
Fraud - TomQ

Voter fraud certainly happens, but not nearly as much as the backers of these Voter ID laws would like us to believe:

They want the illegals to vote. - SM

[ In Reply To ..]
They need to increase the base for the Democratic Party. They especially want those who don't speak very good English so they can keep them oppressed and beholding, thereby making themselves feel like heroes and ensuring more low information voting.

How would an illegal vote? - You vote, right?

[ In Reply To ..]
I go into the voting place in my small town, they have my name on a list and they check it off. Hence, even if someone were for some reason impersonating me, it would still be only one vote, not a bunch of fake ones, and you can bet I would raise a stink if I came in to vote and someone had already voted in my name.

To get registered to vote I had to go to my county with proof of citizenship, my passport, license, social security card. So tell me, how would an illegal person get registered to vote? It does not make sense.
Voter fraud is alive and well. - sm

I know a permanent legal resident with a green card who received an application for a mail-in voting ballot. No proof of anything was required. This person just had to mail the application back. Voter fraud is a REAL problem in this country. People need to wake up. It hurts everyone!
But anyone can receive an APPLICATION for - a mail-in voting ballot
[ In Reply To ..]
That doesn't mean when you apply they will give it to you. I know many permanent green card legal residents who know without a doubt they are not able to vote, because they have asked about it, and no.

I imagine the application would require proof of citizenship, so an application for a mail-in voting ballot is not a voting ballot.
No, they cannot. - sm

This person (X) has lived in this country for 60 years and never received one before. When X contacted the registrar's office to let them know, they were shocked and said there must have been a glitch. They asked if X could return the application to them in person. X did. Again, they were stumped. As a side note, this unnamed state has been in the news a lot for proven voting fraud AND allegations of voting fraud. It does happen.

Really? If you were illegal or a wanted crimina - would

[ In Reply To ..]
you risk going to where there are people asking for proof of address to vote? That must be why when the immigration law enforcement people show up at businesses that hire illegals, the illegal migrants all just stand there waiting to be hauled away instead of running.

Yeah, that must be it.
