GOP Rep Turzai-PA admits voter ID law is all about

Posted: Jun 26, 2012

What a relief.  He's erased any lingering doubts we might have had about that voter fraud charade.  Spokesman Miskin didn't get the memo yet.

You bet you should have to show ID to vote. If not then I can go and vote 100 times for Romney. What this tells me is the democrats are planning for voter fraud to throw the election and therefore upset that hundreds of people cannot vote numerous times or illegals that are not citizens of this country could vote. This is an American election. People who are citizens of this country should be the only ones voting. All citizens of this country have ID and if they don't and want to vote they should get one to be assured that their vote will count. If the democrat party doesn't like that tough. That is the way it is. I've always had to show ID to vote. Concept is really pretty simple. If you are a citizen of this country and you want to vote get yourself an ID. Otherwise if you think you are going to commit fraud and vote more than once, Sayanora sweetheart, you are not going to commit fraud just to get your man elected.

"Hundreds?" - What are you talking about?

[ In Reply To ..]
The total number of confirmed voter fraud cases for the past 10 elections? Where do you get these numbers from? Can you cite their source for us? There are voter fraud laws already on the books. We don't need new laws. We just need enforcement of the ones we already have. That includes holding states accountable for inefficient, shotty maintenance of voter rolls and delays in processing voter registration cards.

Could you please answer a couple of questions? Why do these policies disqualify student PHOTO IDs that virtually all other federal, state and local government criteria recognize? The election is held while the fall college semester is in full swing. Why should students be required to travel back to their home precincts to cast their ballots....trips that are often beyond their financial means to take? What about elders who haven't driven for a decade or two, or poor people who cannot afford transportation? Why should they be required to travel, often very long distances, from rural locations to get a photo ID they otherwise have no use for?

I live in a densely populated urban area (over 4 million), but because of state GOP cutbacks in funding, numerous DPS offices have been closed down in the past year or two. The reality of that situation is the locations that service HUGE populations are in far-flung locations that are difficult to access. I took my son for his written and road test recently. This involved two different visits to DPS because the road test appointments had a 3-month backlog (!) due to acute staffing shortages, again on account of cutbacks. The closest location (from near the city's center no less) was 18 miles away. It was located in an industrial sector, not serviced by public transportation.

At one point, there were 57 people in line waiting to have a number issued to them, so they could then wait another couple of hours for that number to be called. There were not enough chairs in the waiting area to accommodate even half of them. Some had to wait outside in 100+ heat for a seat to open up in the waiting area. There were no visible vending machines or water fountains provided for the public. The women's restroom had ONE stall, so there was a long line for that as well.

How easy do you think it is for the handicapped or elders to deal this? I can tell you. I gave my seat to a hunched over, severely osteoporotic 90-year black lady with a walker, who was nearly blind...and in tears. When I asked her what she was doing at DPS, she said she wanted to be sure she had her ID in time to vote. She appeared to be alone, so I asked her how she got to the office. She told me she paid $78 for a taxi. It was evident to me she could not really afford the $156 round trip, judging by the age and condition of her shoes and her overall poor health. Before I left, I had a hard time finding an employee who was willing to PROMISE ME they would help her call the cab and make sure she wa onboard before they left for the day. This is what outrageous looks like.

It's a well known fact by now which populations these voter SUPPRESSION laws target: Minorities, youth/college kids, the poor and elderly...all of whose majorities helped put President Obama in the White House in 2008. No need for any GOPer to persist with this phoney "rampant" fraud epidemic ruse. Turzai was "caught on tape" unwittingly exposing the GOPs dirty underlying agenda. It's truly pathetic the GOP is so desperate they think they can't "get their man elected" without an employing these morally bankrupt and patently transparent suppression tactics. They should be ASHAMED of themelves.

That's not what I said. Where in my message did you see hundreds? - I didn't say anything you said I did

Maybe you are getting me mixed up with another poster. I never said anything of what you said I did.

I never gave any numbers in my post so I have no idea what you are talking about.

The only thing I spoke about in my message is about showing an ID, otherwise I could go vote for Romney over and over.

I read your first paragraph and that's all I'm reading. If someone is going write that I said things I didn't say I have no desire to read anything else. If you reply without accusing me of something as it was a misunderstanding and you replied to the wrong poster, then I will be more than willing to read what you write. But I won't read posts from posters saying I wrote something I didn't.

If you weren't talking about HUNDREDS of people committing voter fraud, what were you trying to say?  I'm not accusing you of anything, for Pete's sake.  Those are YOUR words there, not mine.  Look, it's OK.  Everyone knows full well there is no proof of so-called rampant widespread voter fraud anywhere to be found.  Rest assured, nobody's expecting any answers to the hard (rhetorical) questions either.

I stand by my words. I get the information from watching the election every time. Watching the busloads of democrats shipped in all expenses paid for by Soros to vote democrat to throw the election. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to find this information. Do a simple Google search and you will find article after article after article about voter fraud. Democrats aint squeeky clean that's for sure.

Read what people in ACORN say. Look at the guy they found with the voting machine during the Gore campaign pumping out hundreds of votes, or the bags of votes they found in a trunk.

Alright, you got me. I did say hundreds. I meant thousands if not more.

Google searches pretty easy:

We post sources and sources and sources and sources. Pages and pages of sources. Information can be cross referenced (and no not from "Faux"), but since people don't like the information they think it's "cute" to poke fun and call names like little kindergartners. I say from now on nobody should have to post sources because if others don't like it they'll just come back and say it's not credible.

We have sources. From now on if anyone doesn't like that we don't post sources - tough. People who say sources are not credible just because they don't like them are not credible themselves.

Sick of the mentality of "the only correct source is from a liberal site". or the "I'm in charge of saying whether a site is credible or not" mentality.

When we have sources and the information is cross referenced and verified that's it. End of story.
nm didn't. Neither did you. - Seeing is believing
[ In Reply To ..]
Besides, lately cons have spent much time drawing attention to the fact that they REFUSE to post sources, under the guise they don't "do homework" for others. This is usually puncutated with some sort of vapid directive telling others to go research.

This is getting way off the topic of Turzai's admission that voter ID laws are all about getting Romney elected, so I'm definitely done begging others to back up their posts, at least for now.
No, we don't post sources because we are immediately told not credible - I addressed the original topic
[ In Reply To ..]
No, we are still addressing the original topic. We are tired of posting source after source after source to be told "not credible" and then posters thinking it's "cute" to make fun of the sources. That's something my 12-year-old niece would do. When a source is researched and cross referenced from valid sources, these claims of "not credible" are not worth the time of reading.

Lately conservatives are tired of being told their sources are not valid. That is why many of us are now starting to refuse to put links. After all why should we when we will be told "not credible. Maybe that is where your confusion lies, not that so much time is spent not wishing to post a source, but could be the liberals preoccupation with telling us it's not credible.

Besides I initially addressed the OPs post, but guess that was too hard for some to understand.

Voter ID laws are made not to elect one over the other. Anyone can say otherwise (and it usually always is the side that wants people to vote multiple times to elect their guy). Laws are made to make sure that voter fraud is not committed. Every election I hear about voter fraud in FL where hundreds of extra votes turn up, no name or anything. Busloads of people shipped in from other states to vote, dead people voting. Then there is the Diabold voting machine fraud (don't like it, tell it to Hillary). Then there is the trunk full of votes. There is case after case after case of voter fraud all over the country. Then you hear about democrats trying to suppress the military's votes, yet pay Acorn to register people as many times as they can. I hear this on my local news and I live in a very liberal area.

One citizen, one vote, show ID. If anyone doesn't like that it's obviously upsetting that they cannot commit voter fraud, get the illegals, prisoners and dead people's votes. Getting ACORN to register people multiple times. I remember watching the news and 1 person said ACORN registered him 26 times and he was laughing about it. Guess it's okay if the same person votes 30 or 40 times for the president as long as it benefits your side. Showing a photo ID to make sure that everyone has an opportunity to vote ONCE is the way it should be.

I'm done explaining this. Have a nice day.
Turzai begs to differ: "Voter ID law allows Romney - to win PA...DONE!"
[ In Reply To ..]
The GOP state rep did not stutter while unleashing that boast. He also made nary a mention of voter fraud of any description. Perhaps you'd like to THINK the ID laws are about that but, by all appearances, this GOP insider appears to have finally blown that notion to smithereens.

That just about takes us full circle around the distractions thrown down here today. Voter ID law, Turzai's statement, hopes for GOP victory.... straight from the horse's mouth and inextricably entwined from this day forward. Those words will just be laying in wait on video, primed for instant replay, every time the GOP wants to revisit voter ID debate.

Thanks, Mr. Turzai. You done good.
Good hope he wins and I don't care how - There
[ In Reply To ..]
Since there are plenty of documented cases of voter fraud with the democrats, I don't care. I don't care if he spends a ton of money (just like the democrats), I don't care if there is cheating (just like the democrats). I don't care. I want Romney to win because he is the better better candidate. I think he cares more about the people, no matter what the haters say. I've seen no care for the people from anyone in this admin. So if this helps Romney win, good. I hope it does.

And I don't want to hear any crocodile tears of unfairness. Dems got enough problems going on in their own party. Maybe they should fix their problems before accusing others of something they don't know. Oh, boo hoo, we don't get to cheat, we don't get to ship busloads to different states to vote, we have to show ID now, we can only vote once, those mean ol nasty republicans, how dare they take away our right to cheat.

Maybe you're OK with all that, but that's not the country I grew up in and it's not the one I think my son deserves to inherit. I do appreciate your (oxymoron alert) "honesty" on the suject, though I can't say I exactly find it refreshing. The good news is it doesn't scare me like it used to. It challenge me and makes me much more determined than ever to do everything I can to defeat those efforts.
You just described the democratic platform - good goin.

Maybe you're okay with it when the democrats do it. That's all that matters. But someone proposes that people show ID that that they know they are not going to be voting multiple times and whoa boy, how dare they want this to be fair, it won't benefit me.

I want my kids to grow up in a country where the democrat process is followed, but as it stands right now, if one side is going to cheat, lie, steal, obstruct, bus people in from neighboring states, and count dead peoples votes and those of people who are not citizens of this country, then they get back a little taste of their own medicine. This isn't a you follow democratic process, but we can do whatever we want at all cost to win.

When I see the cheating going on, the lawyers lined up ahead of time with statements prepared in advance of fraud and stolen elections. When I hear some guy pulled out a voting machine in his trunk with bags of votes for the democrats, or suppression of the military votes makes me more determined than ever to do everything I can to defeat that.
NRA extortion and blackmail partners with GOP - for House vote tomorrow

This is the GOPs idea of bipartisanship, the marriage of bullets, ballots, bucks and brute force against a backdrop of SCOTUS activist judges' Citizens United brainchild's corruption on steroids. Having rendered the remotest possibility of a vote based on the merits of the charges (or lack thereof), GOP and dem reps alike, dependent on NRA campaign war chests, are set to cast one of the most dishonorable, dishonest and historically shameful votes in the history of our country.

Hopefully dems considering giving in to the blatent blackmail scheme will realize that, in an effort to save their hides by bidding for the bucks, bullets can't cast November ballots. Does the right-wing Supreme Court appointing George W. Bush President ring any bells?

Although the Cons are notorious liars and cheaters, they actually DO say exactly what they feel. Mitt Romney not only endorses the Paul Ryan budget but is vetting him to be his VP. I can't think of a more tragic thing to hit the USA.

They insist on deflecting on issues such as jobs (they blocked Obama's Jobs Act), making sure that women have invasive, unnecessary transvaginal ultrasounds if they are considering the LEGAL process of abortion, denying equal pay for equal work, and it seems they want to keep women, in general, barefoot and pregnant. Romney wants to give yet ANOTHER tax break to the rich to the tune of 5 MILLION DOLLARS, and Cons complain about Obama, who is using money to try to help the middle class and poor that the Cons are hoping will just die in the streets. Ryan's budget (the one Romney endorses) will do away with Social Security (that I paid into for 40 YEARS), Medicare and anything that helps the poor folks and those former middle class people who have since become lower middle class and the poor, a Con's DREAM.

The United Stats is a republic, not an oligarchy, and those who are in favor of an oligarchy can hardly be considered "good Americans."

Romney got rid of Ron Paul delegates because they REFUSED to sign a loyalty letter to Romney. ("I pledge allegience to Mitt Romney.) Isn't that allegiance supposed to be reserved for the UNITED STATES? So much for fairness to those who sent those delegates there to vote for Ron Paul.

Romney is counting on "investors" to gobble up all the houses that are being foreclosed so they can "rent them out." Home ownership will then disappear as one of the "American Dreams."

They only care about the ultra rich, and they admit it. All you have to do is listen to what they say.

As a woman, I would never, EVER vote for a Republican.

Sorry, maybe you should start a new post and list which sites you will only accept information from so everyone on the board knows that we can only site liberal rags.

Those were not the only sites with the SAME INFORMATION!!! There were pages and pages and pages in Google with THE SAME INFORMATION!

I have no time for these games anymore. Voter fraud is out there and you know it. Yes, we all know liberals think they are angels and republicans are demons with horns and nothing a conservative says is true and every single conservative has cheated at elections, but not liberals. They never tell a lie and never cheat to win the elections. Facts are facts. There is voter fraud and it's in the thousands. Maybe you have been out of the country at every election. If you were in this country you would know it to be true.

Whether or not you like the links makes no difference to me. Doesn't change the fact that the information in the article is true and can be verified through other sources. Don't like it? Tough. I will not ignore the truth because it doesn't fit with what you want to believe. As Starkist says - Sorry Charlie.

nonpartisan organization that promotes participatory democracy via education and mobilization with a focus on low income, minority, youth, marginalized and under-represented voters. Obviously, the essence of its mission would be deemed partisan by those unable to distinguish between democrats, the party, and democracy, the process.

http://www.eac.gov/
Election Assistance Commission, an independent information resource and clearinghouse created in 2002 as part of the Help Americans Vote Act, signed by W. Part of its function is oversight of HAVA voluntary voting system guidelines, certification of voting systems, and housing data on the administration of federal elections.

The key to arriving at the truth in this matter is to look at the number of cases of successful CONVICTIONS for voter fraud, then to review the details case-by-case to determine whether or not there was evidence of conspiracy or criminal intent versus honest mistakes made by individuals unfamiliar with voter registration restrictions. W’s Justice Department conducted a huge investigation between 2002 and 2006, and was only able to turn up 120 people charged and 86 convicted of the 200 million votes cast in federal elections, and NO evidence to even remotely suggest conspiracy.

IMO, the fact that only about 1 in 4 Americans eligible to vote are actually registered is appalling. The Pew Center reported that in 2008, 2.2 million votes were lost because of problems with registration. Where is the legislative initiative to address THIS national embarrassment, being that the US puts itself out there as democracy’s world champion?

What I said was that I (as in me, myself and I) would never use it (dirtyhippies.org) as a source citation, regardless of how valuable I (as in me, myself and I) may or may not think their info is.

This statement was in response to the "you are why people do not post sources" post. The intent is to illustrate why it's not a great idea to cite links to what are obviously biased partisan sources (or at least PERCEIVED to be), especially when there are nonpartisan data banks available where fixed number stats can be found, such as how many voter fraud cases were charged, or how many were actually convicted. This supposition is based on the premise that the one doing the citing is interested in providing CREDIBLE support for their post.
I see your point - still don't know where you came up with - dirty hippies.

that has worked just fine for decades. It functions to verify the holder's current residence. Like SS cards, a key piece of personal identification, there has been no imperative to plaster a picture all over either one of them. Baseless claim #743. After 7 months and 5 intensive investigations - ACORN was cleared

of any criminal activities. Each investigation concluded the same thing: This was an orchestrated smear campaign by yellow journalism's dirty dozen, including the entire Focks news staff, Andrew Breitbart (may he rest in peace), James O'Keefe and Hannah Giles. The only thing that kept O'Keefe and Giles out of court was an immunity deal in exchange for the heavily doctored videos.

How do the cons think that crowing about this sham is going to somehow help their party's cause? It only goes to show how far they are willing to go to falsely discredit their political opponents in lieu of mounting an issues-oriented campaign effort which evidently, they know would be doomed to fail.

Utterly incomprehensible.

Thank you. You nailed it! - nm

Do you have any data regarding the numbers - re voter fraud in the past? SM

[ In Reply To ..]
I believe if you research this, you will find that you have a straw argument.

In my state, you have to go to a specific - voting site to vote. SM

[ In Reply To ..]
This is based on where you live. Once there, you check in, your name is crossed off, etc. It would be impossible to do what you claim is being done, voting multiple times, illegal aliens voting, all that. This is just a scare tactic that has apparently worked on you. Too bad.

It makes me wonder if the poster actually votes as.. - sm

there seems to be a lack of basic knowledge of the voting procedure.

Wrong assumption - In my area we do what

[ In Reply To ..]
you do with giving your names, checking a list, etc. However, there flat out attempts to throw the election for Obama in 2008 with people showing up, screaming how they were being denied (did not live in the area, had no proof, no voter registration), their vote was being suppressed. Some had to have security called because of the tantrums. They tried using names of deceased, addresses of vacated/abandoned buildings. WAKE UP, THERE IS VOTER FRAUD. If I have to show ID to get some cough medicines (yeah, check it out at your drgustore), then EVERYBODY should show valid state ID to vote...PERIOD. Eliminates all the problems.

the tape was edited.  Who cares?  I didn't see anything wrong with it the way it was, and his poll numbers seem to be up because of it.  Most normal people are sick of all the entitlements and it's just common sense that the people receiving them will vote for the administration giving it to them.  Obama is making us a Nanny State.  ...

More Emphasis Being Placed On Multiple Hospital Admits?Jun 13, 2014
I'm an acute care MT. I have been taking notice lately of the emphasis on how many hospitalizations a patient has had within the prior 12 months from the most recent visit. All for seniors (over 60) and seemingly with an effort, urge or suggestion to transition to DNR/DNI status. Are the death panels auditing these hospitals? Is this what was being talked about regarding the ACA limiting how many times a hospital can admit a patient before being penalized? Don't get me wrong, my family ...

We all know that immigration law is complicated. We all know that human beings make mistakes. What we don't expect is that our government can't figure out who its own citizens are. Voter IDMar 24, 2014

Why is this important?  First, because the Obama administration in general, Obama's energy-related policies, and the "rules" that have been promulgated by the EPA under his watch have been predicated on what we've known for a long time - the sloppy science, the agenda/$$-driven data manipulations and outright falsehoods in the climate change industry - and they have not only been enormously costly to the US economy but have prevented the US from achieving energy independence, to s ...

Myth of Voter Fraud It is important to protect the integrity of our elections.
