It's always been figured the same way, whether under GOP of democratic administrations....and that includes the weekly and mid-month adjustments. When Romney was using his "8.1%" one-liner, it was all peachy keen and acceptable, but suddenly with this ill-timed (gasp) improvement suddenly it's "fuzzy math," since it doesn't fit in with GOP talking points anymore. Give us a break.

The ADJUSTED rate is the so-called true rate which is 7.7%.

I do find it a bit suspicious that, since Obama has been having a problem winning the race as easily as he did in 2008, all the unemployment numbers seem to be dropping faster than rain and all of a sudden housing is turning the corner when there is nothing different in the rules/laws that would suggest banks are doing anything that is loosening their grip on mortgages.

I'm just surprised no one in the media is investigating, although it's tough to buck the government. LOL

Is it possible that somebody receives SS benefits and at the same time also unemployment payments? My neighbor tells me that he receives both. I think the most encouraging part of this report is in the last paragraph.
