Chosen One and Prince of Darkness all in one post? The only connection to be made here is a racial one. I don't understand what you are trying to say.

It's not brain surgery, hun. What is their purpose (sm) - me

[ In Reply To ..]
exactly? Aren't they supposed to advance the cause of their people? Is helping them get jobs out of the realm of possibility here? It seems all they do is B**CH and moan when one of their own is put upon in some way. Shouldn't they be helping them get ahead in life? For example, make speeches to all the baby daddies running loose who don't pay child support or participate in their offsprings' lives? All they do is give stupid speeches about "rights". Isn't it their "right" to have a job? Why should their unemployment rate be zooming up since they have a black President? Something isn't right here and the big mouths should be getting involved.

And I don't mind telling you that I have reported this offensive hate-mongering post of yours. There is nothing political or constructive in anything you have said in this hate speech. I wonder if my black face was standing in front of yours if you would have the guts to say what you have said while hiding behind your computer. Have a beautiful weekend my dear!
You don't think black leaders should help their fellow man? - Truthhurts
[ In Reply To ..]
This is what I don't understand. Black unemployment higher than white and Hispanic unemployment, yet you take issue with it because black leader's names were given?

They (especially Sharpton and Jackson) SHOULD be out there helping, not hindering; but all their speeches seem to blame the white race for all their troubles. The Black Caucus does the same in Congress.

Do you think that really helps black unemployment or do you think it IS the white race that is really the problem?

I think the OP's post was correct and I'm not making this a racist or hate-mongering post as you seem to think. I'm trying to understand why YOU think it's offensive.

Care to discuss instead of reporting right away?

You can read it above. It is a disgusting post and I hope you would agree it has no place on this forum.

Let's not be disingenuous about the tone of the post. It wasn't about helping our fellow man. If it WERE about OUR fellow man, we would have been spared catch-phrases like babby daddy, child support, and dog whistles like "one of their own," "THEY have a black president," and "B**TCH and moan".

And why do you ass/u/me that I think the "white" race is the problem?? Let me tell you something, I see the HUMAN race okay? I have a mixed race family that is beautiful so I'm not about to hop on any black versus white bandwagon with you because that is not what I am about. The Brain Surgery post was offensive and it was pointing at one group of people. Plain and simple.

Ummm, a couple of facts seem to be in order. - sm

[ In Reply To ..]

Perhaps they are busy gathering some facts.  An example of a fact would be the following statement:  Under Obama (so far), the unemployment rate has DECREASED by a larger percentage than any other president (at least since 1949), falling from 10% to 7.3%, down 2.7%.  There is no reason to believe the rate will have a sudden or significant reversal its steady decline.  BTW, 7.3% is the lowest its been in almost 5 years.  This would tend to argue against gloom and doom alarmist in the winger camp that claim the economy is on the verge of collapse.

Another example would be the data below which shows beginning and ending UE rates under dem and GOP presidents dating back to 1949.  It also shows the percentage of increasing (+) or decreasing (-) changes (bold type) in the rate.  Notice how UE rates have net average decreases under democratic presidents and and net average increases under GOP presidents, with only one exception.

Civilian Unemployment Rate,U.S. Department of Labor: Bureau of Labor Statistics

period         start end  chng   President      Party
Jan 1949 Jan 1953    4.3   2.9  -1.4   Truman       Democrat

 Jan 1953 Jan 1957    2.9   4.2  +1.3   Eisenhower 1 GOP

Jan 1957 Jan 1961    4.2   6.6  +2.4   Eisenhower 2 GOP

Jan 1961 Jan 1965    6.6   4.9  -1.7   JFK/Johnson  Democrat

Jan 1965 Jan 1969    4.9   3.4  -1.5   Johnson      Democrat

Jan 1969 Jan 1973    3.4   4.9  +1.5   Nixon        GOP

Jan 1973 Jan 1977    4.9   7.5  +2.6   Nixon/Ford   GOP

Jan 1977 Jan 1981    7.5   7.5   0.0   Carter       Democrat

Jan 1981 Jan 1985    7.5   7.3  -0.2   Reagan I     GOP

Jan 1985 Jan 1989    7.3   5.4  -1.9   Reagan II    GOP

Jan 1989 Jan 1993    5.4   7.3  +1.9   Bush, GHW    GOP

Jan 1993 Jan 1997    7.3   5.3  -2.0   Clinton I    Democrat

Jan 1997 Jan 2001    5.3   4.2  -1.1   Clinton II   Democrat

Jan 2001 Jan 2005    4.2   5.2  +1.0   Bush, GW I   GOP

Jan 2005 Aug 2008    5.2   6.1  +0.9   Bush, GW II  GOP

Since 1928 there have been 13 presidents, 7 Republicans (Hoover, Eisenhower, Nixon, Ford, Reagan, Bush Sr, and Bush Jr) and 6 Democrats (FDR, Truman, JFK, Johnson, Carter and Clinton).

Six of the seven Republican Presidents had unemployment increase while in office. Ronald Reagan is the only Republican President since 1928 to leave office with a lower unemployment rate.

All six Democratic Presidents had unemployment decrease or stay the same while in office.  The worst Democratic performance was Jimmy Carter, who had neigher a net gain nor a net loww in the unemployment rate.

these incontrovertible facts.

Here's another one for ya. EVERY data set on UE rates is flawed in that respect, regardless of whose administration is under scrutiny. Hence, one could also conclude that all the RISES in UE rates under GOP watch were deceptively conservative estimates and were actually higher, since that is a data set that cannot be accurately measured.

Therefore, this is no less of a moot point now than it was the last time it was posted by wingers who otherwise cannot comment on the labor stats that fly in the face of their aforementioned unfounded, not-a-leg-to-stand-on gloom and doom scenarios.
Oh, c'mon. Really? Did you count part timers? - nm

I posted Labor Dept stats that measure all that - and more.
[ In Reply To ..]
Their records are comprehensive, thorough and reach far back into our past. That particular graph was derived from their archives. It was published for educational, not political purposes. The conventional methods they use to arrive at those averages are a synthesis of all kinds of different measures, including part-time employment.

When it comes to measuring employment, Americans, whether they be politicians and their advisers, Wall Street analysts, financial planners and advisers, bankers, investors, business administrators, academics, or just plain old ordinary citizens turn to the US Bureau of Labor Statistics for their info, not ax-grinding Obama haters who have deluded themselves into believing they can win future elections with their non-stop lies and deceit.

Here's a little tidbit for you. (sm) - LM

Here is the historical data from the US Dept. of Labor Bureau of Statistics.    Funny how the last big (and highest) spike was under the Reaganomics regime. As you can see, it isn't as high yet as it was then.  I predict it will peak roughly where it did then and will start to go back down as it did then.  If it keeps rising and does not show signs of a drop, then I'll panic.  After all, most conservatives think Ronnie was wonderful don't they? &nbs ...

A financial pundit, James Galbraith, suggested:  We have a large cohort of people who have been displaced by a major economic crisis,” he says. “It's utterly ridiculous to make them subsist on unemployment insurance, when in fact, there aren’t going to be jobs.  This is not a temporary condition for a great many people.” Galbraith claims lowering the retirement age would solve that problem. Why Did The Unemployment Rate Drop?Dec 02, 2011
I think the most encouraging part of this report is in the last paragraph. The U.S. added 120,000 jobs in November, but the unemployment rate posted a huge drop to 8.6% from 9% and a broader unemployment rate fell even more to 15.6% from 16.2%. Why? The number of jobs added comes from a survey of establishment payrolls. The unemployment rate comes from a separate survey of U.S. households. The household survey is much smaller than the establishment survey, and as a result it can swing around a ...
