UGLY protests. Your message is lost. You have none.

Posted: Nov 5, 2011

taxpayers are paying for overtime police, cleanup, destruction. These KIDS need to get a life!  You are accomplishing nothing but trouble. Most of America is now AGAINST Occupy.

http://gawker.com/5854613/occupy-protests-get-ugly-in-denver-portland-and-austin

;

They got ugly because of (a) over-reacting police, - and (b) infiltrating anarchist goons.

Go to an encampment someday and talk to people who actually have vision and ideals. You might learn something valuable about humanity, and about yourself.

Good piece of advice. - I vote "like." nm

[ In Reply To ..]

Tell me. What is their vision, their ideas? Because - for now, all they prove is they can break laws. nm

[ In Reply To ..]
nm

There are many visions of a better future. - s/m - Pro-Occupy

[ In Reply To ..]
A vision that the general populace of America is a wealth of intelligence, energy and ideas that should be tapped, not quashed. A vision of a way that allows everyone to be able to speak up and have their say, and give their input on how to repair the damage that has been done here in the last 20 years or more. Right now, we pay politicians, congressmen and women, senators, governors, and other elected officials way too much money to do way too little. And not a one of them taps into the potential fund of knowledge and workable ideas that middle class Americans possess.

Some checks and balances on mega-corporations. Their profits are obscene. And the worse off all of us little guys are, the better off they are.

An end to corporate lobbying and funding of our government.

Changes to how the stock market operates. (I, personally, would like to see that whole pyramid scheme dismantled and done away with, but I guess I'll just have to settle for "new and improved").

The possibilities for change are endless, and not just in this country, but worldwide. If wealth were more evenly distributed in India, for example, would they need to work for pennies on our dollar just to survive? I think not. Then maybe more of our work would come back where it never should have left.

Nothing's impossible, and if people work together, rather than try to elbow each other away from the proverbial "pie", as they've been doing for too long now, the more there will be available for everybody. And that's just MY opinion. There are millions of other people with ideas out there that see a real possibility of making American work again, rather than just continue to fall apart.
Good post. Thanks. Also, only one party advocates that - sm
[ In Reply To ..]
the USA "continue to fall apart." The last time they did it, the entire government almost shut down and as a result our credit rating was also dropped.
Then get someone with intelligence to protest, and - peacefully. They have NO message now! nm
[ In Reply To ..]
nm
Nm, even though having no message is your area of expertise, - as usual you are dead wrong.
[ In Reply To ..]
Don't you ever tire of these vapid drive-bys?
Why are you so threatened by them and the truth? - nm
[ In Reply To ..]
I'd like an answer to that question myself. - notholdingmybreath
[ In Reply To ..]

Why don't you attend one of their protests and - sm

[ In Reply To ..]
talk with them directly, hopefully with an open mind, and I'm sure they'll tell you, very calmly, just what their vision is. They're all over the plact, not just Wall Street. I guess it's just easier to stay home at the computer and trash the movement which, by your own question, you don't have an idea what they stand for.

I did it, and it worked for me. I support them 100%.

Oh, by the way there was a SECOND protester, an American veteran, whose speen was injured by the police. You might want to look into how that gentleman is doing right now. Unless that's okay with you...
You cant talk to those loons! They just got done - using kids as shields in DC!! Disgusting.nm
[ In Reply To ..]
nm
Disproving your Fox "kids as shields" report echo - is as easy as pie
[ In Reply To ..]
All one has to do is open the video link which the OP so kindly provided and, assuming one is sighted, watch what happened. The cops grabbed the kid and unsucessfully tried to separate her from her mom, who they were intent upon roughing up. To claim otherwise is, well, just plain looney. Had there been anything more to it, do you really think the police would have retreated back into the building without arresting any of the OWS folks? Really?

They have no ideas - sm

[ In Reply To ..]
The OWS defenders on this forum wouldn't dare step foot in an OWS encampment. Its a lot of bull. Once OWS has outworn their usefulness, obama and his minions will thrown them under the bus.

I guarantee it!
I'm going on Sunday - JS
[ In Reply To ..]
This week I'm going through closets and rounding together coats, blankets, and warm clothing. Then, I'm gonna hit my father's house (he's a bit of a hoarder - not a dirty one like you see on the show of the same name, but a single man obsessed with buying in bulk and has way too much) and see what he is willing to donate. I will be attending the protest in Manhattan, and I'll be sure to post here to fill you in on all the ideas that they (don't according to you) have. I guarantee it!

Thank you for the motivation!
How ridiculous! - sm
[ In Reply To ..]
I've been to their "encampment" several times and can ALWAYS talk to them. They're very objective in the way they present their case, and even the ones without multiple degrees are friendly and informative. I support them 100%.

I can understand, though, why YOU couldn't talk to them, since your preconceived notion of them is already negative.

I have a great idea - see message

[ In Reply To ..]
I would like YOU to go to the nearest encampment, pitch a tent, take notes, and get back to me.

Would love to hear what you have to say about OWS. Please, don't do it someday, do it tomorrow or the next day.

Share with those on this forum too, how great OWS is, you know, their "ideals" and vision.

You talk the talk, now let's see you walk the walk. Otherwise, you're just a poseur.

Looking forward to hearing from you "comrade."

PS: Watch out for overreacting police and infiltrating anarchist goons, sarc/

Oh my. Someone strike your last nerve? - Take five deep breaths and count to ten.

[ In Reply To ..]
Hope this helps, compatriot.
You should take his/her advice, - nm
[ In Reply To ..]
I have tendency to ignore unsolicited advice - especially when
[ In Reply To ..]
it's based on false assumptions and wild-eyed accusations. I've spent the past 4 weekends at Occupy campsites, two in the city where I live and the other two in cities I drove 200+ miles to get to. I'd be there full time if I could but, contrary to prevailing misinformation on this forum, I have M-F job and family responsibilities to attend to and do volunteer blogging 2-3 hours a day on the side for Pacifica, which these days consists primarily of OWS reporting. That leaves very little time for partaking in MTStars mud slinging, so I figure any one of these poseur posse prototypes can tune in to their live broadcasts, podcasts or program websites at their convenience to get my "reports." PS: FYI, the OWS campsites I visited were free of over-reacting police and infiltration by unwelcome goons-for-hire.

I've already been, plan to go back. What's your excuse - poser? Do you ever even leave your house?

[ In Reply To ..]
Well, since you have been there - share your experience
[ In Reply To ..]
Otherwise, you are like the rest of the defenders of OWS on this forum, poseurs and armchair quarterbacks; using the OWSers to further your utopic agenda.

As to your question, do I ever leave my house, of course I do. I work for a living, have responsibilities to meet, bills to pay, its a struggle, but I would rather work than shirk. Get my drift?
Been trying to, but you keep trying to shoot it all down. - BTW, I work 6 days a week, min. wage.
[ In Reply To ..]

OWS movement has not yet completed - its 50th day.

[ In Reply To ..]
A tad early to be writing them off, dontcha think? I'd suggest you do a little research on that "most Americans" malarky. Patently false. There's barely been enough time to ascertain even the suggestion of a trend in the few polls that have been conducted thus far, but suffice to say what little data that has been gathered is favorable toward the movement, though the MAJORITY of those polled are still undecided. There is no such thing as a majority of one, hon.

Yep, and if there's one thing I've learned not to believe, - its slanted American polls. (nm)

[ In Reply To ..]

So I take it you don't believe the OP's "most of America is now - AGAINST Occupy" statement?

[ In Reply To ..]
After all, how else can she measure anti-Occupy sentiment, but for polls? ESP?
Polls can be manipulated to reflect anything you want - them to, which is why they cant be trusted.
[ In Reply To ..]
You can take the same question, tweek the way it's asked, and get polar opposite answers. So no, they aren't very reliable.
I guess a direct answer to a simple question - is expecting too much. nm
[ In Reply To ..]

Just imagine what they might be able to accomplish - in a YEAR! They give me hope. (nm)

[ In Reply To ..]
Got anything of substance to add, or have the toxins clouded your mind so badly, hate is the only word you spew?
I don't recall saying anything hateful. Unless you call - being disgusted with your spews hateful.
[ In Reply To ..]
But, I don't hate you. Feel sorry for you? Yeah, maybe a little. But mostly I feel nothing for you one way or the other.

I do find some people's determination to tear down anything that represents even the slightest attempt to make life better rather distasteful. Do I hate you for it? Nope. In this country, not only is freedom of speech still intact, but in addition, the freedom to be ignorant is still intact, as well.
Calling spade a spade is a simple act of - telling the truth
[ In Reply To ..]
Referring to a group of people as a sickening embarrssment and useless mess is hateful statement, as is your second post, and both comments are absolutely void of substance. The only thing you can hope to accomplish with this miserable mindset is to make folks want to run far and wide away from anything you have to say while generating more support for your targets. Nice job.
Wait a minute. I think you're replying to the wrong post. - The "sickening embarrassment" post was -
[ In Reply To ..]
a response to a positive post I had made on the OWS movement. So I think your post is misplaced.
Oops! my apologies! you were right- it is I who - responded to the wrong post! sm
[ In Reply To ..]
Good grief! I'm tired, and it's late. I agree with you. i've forgotten who I was responding to. Time to go to bed!

Sorry about that! LOL! (sheepish grin)
No problem. Hateful spews from forum bullies such as these - should be forgotten ASAP.
[ In Reply To ..]
Life's too short to perseverate on waste products from the bottom feeders. I've enjoyed following your posts this p.m. Sleep tight.
See what I mean? I said something optimistic and - hopeful, and you were sickened by it.
[ In Reply To ..]
A reaction like that to anything or anyone who tries to make life better for everyone has a pathological ring to it.
Interesting - sm
[ In Reply To ..]
Give me one example of what OWS is doing to MAKE LIFE BETTER for everyone.
How about better pay and fair benefits? Less - offshoring? Better representation in gov?
[ In Reply To ..]
Some hope of retirement? Or home ownership? Or even being able to afford rent? An end to corporate control of the White House & Congress? Among other things?

Stay tuned - America

[ In Reply To ..]
Well I guess according to the Poll dancers, we have to wait and see how the majority of Americans feel about this OWS bowel movement after all it has only been 50+ days. Really!!

So until there has “been enough time to ascertain even a suggestion of a trend in the polls” or a single coherent theme to their protests:

OWS can go ahead and use children as human shields, provoke the police, scream brutality, and then cry like babies because they think their first amendment rights are being violated, continue to shut down businesses, cripple the economy even more, destroy property, block the streets, cause major traffic delays, defecate wherever, rape and pillage, assault law-abiding citizens, take over vacant/foreclosed homes, occupy parks, occupy sidewalks, and bridges, etc.

All the while demanding the utmost restraint and discipline from all those that stand in their way.

It's only fair. Right Hon?

Yup. It's only fair. There's no law against ignorance - or beaten-down complacency. Only sympathy.

[ In Reply To ..]

Wow. Teabaggers certainly are - a surly bunch when

[ In Reply To ..]
the new kids on the block steal their spotlight. You are beginning to sound like a broken record, but no surprise there, considering your talking points read like a laundry list of Fox OWS coverge over the past few weeks. Go preach to the choir, hon. No one else could possibly take any of this upchuck seriously. Now, you'll excuse me while I go draw a hot bath. I feel like I've been slimed, just by opening your post and inhaling all its foul content. In the meantime, you might consider breaking open a nice new box of soap. That gutter you call your mouth could use a good scrub.

Good grief - WHERE on earth do you get your news? - Oh wait. Let me guess. Television?

Why Do You Think There Are Protests In Nov 26, 2014
Surely they do not really care that much about Michael Brown or Darren Wilson personally.  Do you think it is all unjustified protesting?  Michael Brown ISSUE was a spark to a movement.  This movement represents 2 things: 1.  Racial discrimination by police/authority and society in the U.S. 2.  Police aggression and brutality/over-reaction, frequently against people of color (brown and tan).   Obviously, the extreme looting/burning in St. Louis is out of line.&n ...

The Ugly Root Of Socialism: EnvySep 15, 2015
Envy is the emotion that arises in the human heart "when a person lacks another's superior quality, achievement, or possession and either desires it (for themselves) or wishes that the other lacked it".
