Surely they do not really care that much about Michael Brown or Darren Wilson personally. Do you think it is all unjustified protesting? Michael Brown ISSUE was a spark to a movement. This movement represents 2 things:
1. Racial discrimination by police/authority and society in the U.S.
2. Police aggression and brutality/over-reaction, frequently against people of color (brown and tan).
Obviously, the extreme looting/burning in St. Louis is out of line. The emotions are running high, and it is a personal reaction there. People knew Michael Brown and knew Darren Wilson, or at least the Ferguson police department. They have a lot more anxiety and emotion involved. Still not an appropriate reaction. The burning of Michael Brown, Sr.'s church, the church he was baptized in very recently (Michael Jr was supposed to have been there also, I'm not certain if it was for his own baptism or just in support of his father, but Michael Jr. was reported to have been speaking about faith with the construction workers who were swearing at their work situation when he walked by--he promised to come back and check on them...) was not an appropriate reaction either. There has been talk about outside forces having been responsible for some of the incitement to violence and I would have to agree, there might be an outside element in the burning of the church (some have insinuated the KKK---I don't really want to go there unless there is better evidence), but I don't have any trouble thinking it was not the regular Ferguson protestors.
I went to a protest walk last night. Albeit a small, home town situation, so it was not likely to be violent, but t was wrapped in faith and respect for other humans, whether they be of color, homosexual, transgender, male, female, and several of the aforementioned at a time.
I even find myself thinking about Wilson and how he must feel and must have felt at the time. I believe self-preservation will keep him from revealing his true feelings. I can't believe that if I had been in that situation that I would not have a whole lot more remorse in the end result (whether I felt justified or not) in killing an unarmed person that was just starting his life. When policemen kill children with toy guns, that they mistake for real guns, the shootings are found to be justified, but the policemen still show remorse.
Obviously, this is just my opinion.
