Okay...so here is my thing. I don't like unions. I think that unions have used and abused union workers all the while saying they are there to protect them. Union bosses have made outlandish salaries and are as crooked as the greedy CEOs who also make outlandish salaries.
I understand that union workers in WI are ticked. No one wants to lose money...just ask anyone in the private sector who has taken a pay cut or lost their jobs entirely. It sucks and it isn't fair. However, the state has to do something or some people aren't going to get paid at all.
In saying that, I don't understand why Walker won't negotiate on this and not take away collective bargaining. That measure I find rather harsh. I think (and maybe I'm wrong) many would begrudgingly accept this deal if they got to keep collective bargaining.
As for firefighters out there protesting, they are exempt from this as well as the police so I don't know why they are protesting.
Teachers...should be at school teaching the kids. I do have a problem with teachers calling in sick when they are not and schools being closed. Is it fair for the kids to have to make up this time and go to school into their summer break because of this? No.
I think there is childishness coming from both sides. There are some points that I agree and disagree with on both sides.
As to the heated discussion below about inciting violence.....I have yet to see the WI protesters incite violence. They have a right to depict any politician with a Hitler mustache.....just as the tea party people do. I don't believe the tea party incited violence either so I think both sides to accuse either side of that is absolutely ridiculous and just goes to show how immature and childish we can be.
So....I'm trying to be (stealing a phrase from Bill O'Reilly) fair and balanced here.
No spin. Just my personal thoughts on the situation.
