Fox News: America's right wing machine at its finest - SM

An atheist computer hack working for Dell computer in a highly classified position for the government who admits to stealing government information and potentially divulges it to who knows who in order to feed his sick need to free the oppressed and now in Russia under political asylum is a hero.

Yet a United States soldier and POW is pre-judged a deserter in order to advance a political agenda.

I was making an observation. Nowhere in my post was I prejudging him. You just saw the word FOX and made a huge assumption. Talk of prejudging...

Why would you take that personally?

I was referring to Fox since I've already seen some of their handiwork on the subject in the past and more recently on "The Five." They've absolutely prejudged him and also his father and even his father's beard!

Most of those released by Bush were not high ranking senior Taliban commanders, who were labeled the most dangerous terrorists in the world. In fact, two of them were wanted by the U.N. for WAR CRIMES. They should have been turned over to them, not sent to a country where they can do as they please.

About 614 detainees held at the detention center since it opened in 2002 have been sent home or resettled in third countries by the George W. Bush and Obama administrations and of those, 104 — about 16.9 percent — are confirmed to have returned to terrorist activity of some kind, the report says. An additional 74 former detainees — 12.1 percent — are suspected of engaging in terrorist activities after their release.

A number of past detainees who were released from Guantanamo Bay and started careers as diplomats, businessmen and in other civilian jobs.
This is being overblown in the media, as usual, to advance a political agenda. - sm
[ In Reply To ..]
Fact: The U.S. involvement in the armed conflict against the Taliban is ending, and the 5 detainees that were included in the Bergdahl swap would have had to be released soon anyway.

They were actually scheduled to be released 2 years ago.

Fact: The US DOES negotiate with terrorists (and we DO torture), always have, probably always will.

"'There's little that's actually new here,' said Mitchell Reiss, who worked in the State Department under President George W. Bush and served as national security adviser to Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney. 'It may be new to certain individuals. Whether it's new or not is not as important as whether it's sound policy and promotes national security. That's the ground where there's a more legitimate debate.'

In his book, Negotiating with Evil, Reiss wrote that America actually has a detailed history of negotiating with terrorists and rogue regimes that support terrorist activity.

[...]

· After the North Koreans captured the U.S.S. Pueblo in 1968, President Lyndon Johnson apologized for spying as part of negotiations to secure the release of 83 American prisoners.

· In 1970, President Richard Nixon pressured Israel, Switzerland, West Germany and Britain to release Palestinian prisoners after two airlines were hijacked by the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine.

· During the Iran hostage crisis of 1979 to 1981, President Jimmy Carter agreed to unfreeze $8 billion in frozen Iranian assets after more than a year of negotiations with the Iranian revolutionaries.

· In perhaps the most famous swap, after seven Americans were captured in Beirut, Lebanon, President Ronald Reagan agreed to send missiles to Iran in what became known as the Iran-Contra scandal.

· President Bill Clinton's administration sat down with Hamas in attempts to negotiate peace with Israel. His administration also worked directly with the Taliban nearly two decades ago on several occasions to see if the group would hand over Osama bin Laden and other al-Qaida leaders.

Reiss also noted that President George W. Bush engaged in negotiations with Iran and North Korea even after decreeing them part of the "Axis of Evil." [PolitiFact, 6/1/14]

consider Snowden a hero. I know I don't. I feel he is a traitor...just saying.

This whole thing with this soldier, however, has a lot to it. Not only did our president NOT discuss this with congress and give them 30 days before doing this, but he handed over 5 terrorists. We negotiated with terrorists to receive 1 guy who left his post without any gear after having sent an email to his dad saying he was ashamed to be an American and didn't agree with what America was doing. We have essentially told any and all terrorists that if they hold Americans hostage that they can get multiple fellow terrorists released. I just do not understand how so many of you don't see the seriousness behind all of this.

I know many have said that we have done this before but we did it at the end of a war. This war hasn't ended. Terrorists are still trying to kill Americans. They have declared Jihad...this "war" isn't over and to hand them 5 of their buddies is completely asinine on our part.

I clarified my post. - sm

[ In Reply To ..]
I was referring to Fox News, but I clarified my post. I was a soldier so this particular type of commentary is offensive to me.

Bowe is a soldier and deserves our respect, at least until proven otherwise.
FOXNews hasn't made a claim that he's a deserter. - SM
[ In Reply To ..]
Two members of Bergdahl's platoon said that he was a deserter and much more. And the guy from the DOD claimed the collaboration. FOXNews did not take a stance on this. It sounds like I'm defending Fox, but I'm not. I'm just trying to set the record straight. I hope it turns out that he didn't do anything wrong. I just wish five terrorists would not have been freed.
It's Not A New Narrative - sm
[ In Reply To ..]
And my post didn't make it clear, but it's an issue I've followed now for quite awhile just hoping for a fair resolution for Bowe. Since mid 2009 when Bowe was captured and this issue was first reported, the narrative on Fox had been that he was "crazy" and "maybe mentally disturbed" and it was even suggested the Taliban could "save us a lot of legal hassles." The talk at the time was how unfortunate for Bowe that he wasn't captured BEFORE January 20, 2009, when the narrative might have been much more favorable under CIC Bush.

Fast forward to negotiations for his release being underway by the current administration in 2012/2013, where the Taliban had offered to release him in exchange for 5 Taliban Gitmo detainees (see link below from Fox News).

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BHTGffBZftI

So what is baffling to me now is the seeming shock and surprise on the part of the press and Congressional lawmakers when this had been an ongoing issue for quite some time and the POTUS had been roundly criticized in some of the same circles for his failure to achieve this soldier's release.

Part of the narrative was set long ago, which ultimately might prove true or false, but hopefully he can get a fair shake.
Fox said he "walked away from his post" - md
[ In Reply To ..]
....left his gun, his jacket, his dog tags....sounds like AWOL to me (deserter, whatever you want to call it). When this Obama administration is done, you will find that right from the beginning, when he suddenly became a senator that he himself was groomed for years by people of questionable background....it wouldn't surprise me at all if we find that he is the biggest "terrorist" in the pond setting the scenario for when his term is up.
That is different than last night then... - sm
[ In Reply To ..]
...but what I now understand also is that no matter what Bergdahl did or didn't do, the US is obligated to bring home all soldiers. My problem is the swap for high-level Taliban terrorists and not letting Congress in on this. This is another example of presidential lawlessness in my view. He is acting like a dictator.

I agree with you about Snowden. - sm

[ In Reply To ..]
In all fairness, though, based on lack of past and present cooperation of the Republican House, they would be fighting him tooth and nail.

ALL detainees will be released in about a year simply because that's the law. At least we got a soldier in return. Whether he is a traitor or not, if he is, he should be returned to be tried and punished, if found guilty.

It seems to me that the five that were released would be as angry as hornets (who wouldn't be after being confined for more than 10 years?) upon release, and I'm sure the remaining detainees would be just as angry.

There's an election coming up in 2016, the only thing the Republicans can claim is that they're the best in "protecting" us. So I predict another "terra attack" sometime this year or next year.

I'm just glad we're getting the heck out of Afghanistan, the sooner the better. Obama concluded the mission that Bush was no longer "worried about" (in his own words) and we captured and killed bin Laden.

Maybe less countries would hate us if we just got our noses out of their countries and took care of fixing our own, which is in DIRE need of repair.

The pubs have been having a very hard time making their conspiracy theories stick, so I suspect this latest event gives them a chance to revive the fear factor card they played so often during the Bush years.

They know the VA scandal makes the Republicans look worse than the Democrats because the pubs have always been against giving the vets the tools and funding they need to perform their duties.

Benghazi does not stick on many, many levels--the most current level would be the hypocrisy the pubs display in wanting to leave an American soldier in the hands of terrorists.

The so-called IRS non-scandal is so lame. It is the IRS' job to identify tax evaders/frauds. Again, with limited resources,it only makes sense to identify potential risks with whatever knowledge is available.

Yup, it should be very interesting what the clown car comes up with next.

So, soldiers in his unit are all lying? Fox didn't pre-judge this guy - Truthhurts

and Fox isn't the only one with the news on it. The soldiers who served with him stated he walked off the base more than once.

BTW, the deal with his father, I'd be suspicious too. What American citizen is allowed to go to a country we are at war with to try to negotiate the release of their son? Not happening. Not allowed. Speaking Afghan? There are different sites stating his words meant different things.

Even Diane Feinstein is miffed because the administration DID NOT INFORM Congress or anyone in the Intelligence Committee of this swap.

In fact, it was Obama himself that signed the law stating he had to notify Congress of any release of prisoners 30 days in advance. Face it, Obama really screwed up this time.

And, yes, Fox News (obviously not everyone) had prejudged Bergdahl way back in 2009 shortly after the incident and further went on to criticize other networks for not rising to their level of "journalistic" expertise in doing it.

And, yes, flash forward to June 2014, and now they're all doing it for certain, and everybody's jumping on the bash Obama wagon and anyone who gets in the way of their political agenda in this daily media political gameplay.

But everyone doing it does not make it justified or absolve the actual doing it. Whatever happened to all those links posted being the lamestream media, are they suddenly less LSM?

All I'm saying, and I think what others are saying is: Give the soldier his due process, you know, the Constitution/Fifth Amendment (or the military equivalent thereof) versus the trial by media 3-ring political circus.

The really sad fact is that this soldier's capture happened almost 5 years ago and happened during a time when the Fox News DEFENDER of the president and anything that happened during his administration had morphed into the ATTACK the president and find fault with everything possible in order to advance our political agenda network. Not only had Fox prejudged this soldier as a deserter, they were vigorously criticizing the rest of the media for not reporting the so-called "truth" about him.

And maybe what only Fox was reporting was, in fact, the truth, and then again maybe not, but you'd have to be wearing blinders not to detect a pattern at Fox for the type of "trial by media" journalism that is served up at Fox day in and day out against the current POTUS (and Hillary Clinton lately for that matter), and it just turns my stomach to see it spill over onto this soldier and his family.

I hope they can please put their political agenda aside on this issue.

JACK WHEELER ON BARACK HUSSEIN OBAMA - ProMT

[ In Reply To ..]
Jack Wheeler is a brilliant man who was the author of Reagan's strategy to break the back of the Soviet Union with the star wars race and expose their inner weakness. For year, he wrote a weekly intelligence update that was extremely interesting, well-structured, and informative. He consults(ed) with several mega corporations on global trends and the future, etc. He is in semi-retirement now. He is a true patriot with a no-nonsense approach to everything. He is also a somewhat well-known mountain climber and adventurer.

Written by Dr. Jack Wheeler:
"The O-man, Barack Hussein Obama, is an eloquently tailored empty suit. No resume, no accomplishments, no experience, no original ideas,
no understanding of how the economy works, no understanding of how
the world works, no balls, nothing but abstract, empty rhetoric devoid of real substance.

He has no real identity. He is half-white, which he rejects. The rest of him is mostly Arab, which he hides, but is disclosed by his non-African Arabic surname and his Arabic first and middle names as a way to triply proclaim his Arabic parentage to people in Kenya. Only a small part of him is African Black from his Luo grandmother, which he pretends he is exclusively.

What he isn't, not a genetic drop of, is "African-American," the descendant of enslaved Africans brought to America chained in slave ships. He hasn't a single ancestor who was a slave.
Instead, his Arab ancestors were slave owners. Slave-trading was the main Arab business in East Africa for centuries until the British ended it.

Let that sink in: Obama is not the descendant of slaves; he is the descendant of slave owners. Thus, he makes the perfect Liberal Messiah.

It's something Hillary doesn't understand - how some complete neophyte came out of the blue and stole the Dem nomination from her. Obama mania is beyond politics and reason. It is a true religious cult, whose adherents reject Christianity, yet still believe in Original Sin, transferring it from the evil of being human to the evil of being white.

Thus, Obama has become the white liberals' Christ, offering absolution from the Sin of Being White. There is no reason or logic behind it, no faults or flaws of his can diminish it, no arguments Hillary could make of any kind can be effective against it. The absurdity of Hypocrisy Clothed In Human Flesh being their Savior is all the more cause for liberals to worship him: Credo quia absurdum; I believe it because it is absurd.

Thank heavens that the voting majority of Americans remain Christian and are in no desperate need of a phony savior. He is ridiculous and should not be taken seriously by any thinking American.

And yet he got elected, not once but twice. Thanks to those who did not think it was important to vote for freedom and those who were willing to give up their freedoms for entitlements.

Remember, you don't have to be on a southern plantation to be a slave;
if you are dependent on government entitlements, you just have a different slave owner."

Notes On This Thread - Seriously

[ In Reply To ..]

When people posted about Bush in this thread, they were told by the OP to remain on topic.  When someone posted something negative about President Obama that was completely off topic, not a word of objection was made.  The people who were posting about Fox News, actually a subject of the OP, were told to "get over Fox, they are not going anywhere" and given a list of other networks.

The takeaway is:

- You can be totally off topic as long as the OP agrees with you.

- You should ignore the subject altogether unless you agree with the OP.

- Fox is not going anywhere; President Obama is not going anywhere either, so apparently those two DO have something in common after all!

Notes on deflection on this thread - Time to get serious

[ In Reply To ..]
It's hard to try to have a conversation on this thread and others when posters who want only O positive post and can't handle a difference of opinion keeps deflecting and trying to change the subject.

Talk about Benghazi and Clinton/Obama we get...But Bush did this.

Talk about the war going on now, we get....well what about Bush.

Talk about Jack Wheeler's article on Obama and we get...well what about Bush.

Talk about the VA scandal and we get...But Bush....

Every single subject if it is negative on Obama or his admin, instead of talking about the subject matter we get bombarded with But Bush did this or what about when Bush was in, Bush Bush Bush instead of talking about what the original post was about.

And if someone brings up Bush and we write back about Obama we are told to stay on topic.

Can't have it both ways. Otherwise, that is just seriously demented and nobody will ever have a conversation.

Outrage, Rage, Hypocrisy..... Loop..... Repeat - Seriously

[ In Reply To ..]
I liked your post because I mostly agreed with it, just about everything with the exception of "deflection." What you perceive to be deflection is more like being "defensive," IMO. When people feel they or their beliefs are under attack, they will naturally defend.

Just my opinion, but I think the basic 2-party system fuels this. Each blames the other for EVERYTHING, and each takes turns in the executive office, inheriting each other's problems, and each blames each other for EVERYTHING, and then:

Outrage, rage, hypocrisy..... loop..... repeat.

Outrage: Bush sucks because __________.
Rage: Clinton did __________ also, and where was your outrage then?
Hypocrisy: Knows no bounds when you blame one man/one party for everything.

Outrage: Obama sucks because __________.
Rage: Bush did __________ also, and where was your outrage then?
Hypocrisy: Knows no bounds when you blame one man/one party for everything.

So somebody posts something about Bush and are told it is off topic, and it kind of is, but not really because the war we're discussing was started by Bush, and the "outrage" topic is something Bush also did. OP doesn't want to talk about Bush. End of conversation. If real discussion is what you seek, then what did you think about Bush's release of 500 Taliban members?

So then somebody posts something totally off topic about Obama, but kind of not because he's the president, and about his race, religion, nationality, and slavery, including name calling of Obama voters. Sure, that is pure hate spew and not really on the original topic, but the OP has no problem and let's discuss and call people names if they don't agree with 100% of all that stuff. Were you expecting a real discussion about this? Were you expecting people to agree they were __________?

Fox News? On topic! Discuss if you love Fox. If you disagree, then stop talking about it already.

So as long as you post "outrage" against one man/one party, then you'll get "rage" as a response with "hypocrisy" bringing up the rear..... loop..... repeat.

Ok, I'm sure this has happend to many of you. Your family members come to you for a diagnosis since "you hear it all the time". My sister has been complaining for a very long time now of severe mood swings, slowly putting on some weight, and thinning hair. I suggested she have her doctor check her thyroid since our mother has a thyroid issue. Well the test came back within normal limits (what ever that is, lol), but she had anemia with hemoglobin in the 7s. She had to have 5 iron fusions; s ...

Sponging Family Members!Nov 03, 2013
I have a cousin and her family is so irritating and they seem to sponge off of everyone.  They work and make decent money, but live as if they have no money whatsoever.  They never buy things unless it comes from a thrift store and such and even when my cousin visits me, she almost begs me for my clothes, shoes or whatever.   My cousin, her husband and daughter will just show up at random family members houses, me included, and hang around and when it's dinnertime, she will A ...

Poll Of NRA Members Shows 74% SupportDec 15, 2012
Not much lower than 82% for the general population, but definitely MUCH higher than the NRA leadership. I've forgotten the number, but most NRA members, normal citizens who undergo them themselves, actually believe gun purchases require background checks. Although the Brady law requires background checks be conducted by commercial gun dealers, at least 40% of gun sales  (last study 15 years old) are private sales not involving background checks. (BTW, eBay and Craig's List do not ...

Unreal. Church Turns Members AwayFeb 25, 2014
This is a church in Indiana that is being torn apart after they dismissed the choral director because he is gay.  The man evidently believes that people want to disrupt the service.  Can't believe the man blocking the door tells the elderly lady, "keep your hands off of me, Eleanor" after she lays her hand on his arm while talking to him. Sad, sad, sad ...

It's Time To Re-think Immunity For Members Of CongressApr 04, 2015
I think we're all tired of politicians lying to us.  When they do so in their "official" capacity, i.e. from the floor of either chamber of Congress, they are immune from prosecution, lawsuits, etc.  I'm thinking, of course, about the lies Harry Reid told about Mitt Romney not paying his taxes, but he's certainly neither the sole nor the founding member of the Liar's Club in Congress.  I also think that governmental officials such as Lois Lerner should have no ...

Tea Party Plan To Impersonate Union MembersFeb 26, 2011
Here is the but one plan being hatched before Walker spilled the beans to Fake Koch.  Tea Party leader Mark Williams was referred to as the mastermind of this plan.  I tried the link provided in the political carnival article but that particular blog appears to have been SCRUBBED.   Maybe you can have better luck than I.  http://www.marktalk.com/blog/2011/02...-us-this-week/ Tea Party plan to impersonate union members:  “Even if it becomes known that we ...

Trump Puts NATO Members On Notice: We Ain't YourJul 21, 2016
Ever since the League of Nations, treaties that the US has entered into with respect to so-called "allies" have resulted in the US bearing the brunt of the heavy lifting, both financially and militarily while these so-called "allies" have skipped out on their own obligations.  The press is making a big deal out of the fact that Trump will not allow this situation to persist.  In response to whether the US would honor OUR obligations to defend NATO states, he DARES TO ASK WHETHER THEY ...

Members Of Parliment Are Debating Military Action In SyriaAug 29, 2013
Syria crisis: David Cameron's plea to MPs over evidence   MPs are debating a government motion which could pave the way for military action in Syria following a chemical attack near Damascus. David Cameron said he was convinced the Assad regime was behind the attack and there was a "clear legal basis" for targeted strikes to save lives. But he understood public cynicism about it after "the Iraq episode". Labour's Ed Miliband said he was not against intervention but more evide ...

Members of the Electoral College from Pennsylvania say they are receiving thousands of phone calls and emails from around the world ahead of Monday's vote in Harrisburg, according to a report from Philly.com. One elector told the website that each elector has been assigned a plain clothes state police trooper for protection. "Such has been the life of Pennsylvania's 20 electors for President-elect Donald Trump since the Nov. 8 election," according to the report. The state&# ...

Harried Reid And Other Members Of The Court Have Weighed In On The Snyder CaseMay 28, 2010
It's about time our reps get involved in this case.  I just heard this on our local news so looked for it. It's great that the Supreme Court decided to hear the case, but hearing this today makes me jump for joy. Maybe now, Mr. Snyder will have peace, but as he stated, he's not doing this anymore for his son, he's doing it for ALL miliitary families that had this happen or may have it happen in the future. Reid weighs in on lawsuit over protests at soldier's fune ...
