I think we're all tired of politicians lying to us. When they do so in their "official" capacity, i.e. from the floor of either chamber of Congress, they are immune from prosecution, lawsuits, etc. I'm thinking, of course, about the lies Harry Reid told about Mitt Romney not paying his taxes, but he's certainly neither the sole nor the founding member of the Liar's Club in Congress.
I also think that governmental officials such as Lois Lerner should have no recourse to 5th Amendment protections when it comes to testifying before Congress regarding the performance of their official duties. I realize this seems (and currently would be) unconstitutional, but I think there is good reason, in the public interest, to vacate the 5th Amendment privilege in the case of government officials, especially since they have so many ways to hide their crimes. If you commit crimes in any official capacity, you should be compelled to answer questions about your activities, even (or perhaps especially) if it means you are admitting to those crimes. Notice that we have taken official recognition of the fact that certain people have "special" status legally by things such as our RICO laws.
Way too many shenanigans in government these days, and far too much corruption.
