This is a Vanity Fair article on Romney as a husband, father, and friend; his heritage as scion of a prestigious family; as a Mormon and his fasttracking in the church leadership; how he dealt with the problems of the people under his religious leadership, including women; and his 15 years at Bain Capital, including his philosophy of "creative destruction."  Enjoy. :)

Back in California in a neighborhood with a lot of Mormon neighbors, I learned that most of them had their husbands instruct them in how to fill out their ballots. They didn't consider themselves too stupid, nothing like that; it was just part of being a good Mormon wife, living life according to the teachings of the church.

Some areas have become more liberal over the years, with women getting a few more rights (as in the article), but I don't know how much and whether there's been any loosening of the command for women to seek instruction from men, rather than making decisions on their own. The days when my kids played with Mormon friends while I chatted with their moms are gone.

In any case, Mitt's candidacy has had me wondering about Ann. :) BTW, I was really surprised to hear people don't like her as much as her husband. This has obviously been very stressful for her, and she has my sympathy.
