Is Mitt an ignorant Conservative or just a liar?

Posted: Oct 27, 2012

Mitt told a crowd in Ohio that Jeep is going to close down its US plants and move them to China.  The benovalent Romney said after he is elected he will do everything in his power to keep those jobs here (unlike Sensata which he has refused to help). Even after he was told his statement was false, Romney repeated it in another city.

The thing is, Jeep has no intentions to close American production. The company put out this response to Romney shortly after news of his lie were made public:

“Let’s set the record straight: Jeep has no intention of shifting production of its Jeep models out of North America to China. It is simply reviewing the opportunities to return Jeep OUTPUT to China for the world’s largest auto market.

U.S. Jeep assembly lines will continue to stay in operation. A careful and unbiased reading of the Bloomberg take would have saved UNNECESSARY FANTASIES AND EXTRAVAGANT COMMENTS.”  (I think this is just a nice way of saying Mitt is a liar.)

The Romney lie is even more outrageous considering that JEEP announced this week that it will add a 3rd shift an 1,100 jobs to it Detroit assembly plant, and is  investing $500 million to upgrade its Toledo plant.

Perhaps Mitt is only reading the ultraconservative extreme blogs that some conservative posters on this Board are so fond of.   Maybe someone could let him know that those blogs are filled with lies, too.

the lies they tell. One of their mantras is "if you say it often enough, they will believe it". Hate to say it works with these low-educated voters.

Sorry, not the Republican mantra. - backwards typist

Sorry, but that's the Democrats mantra. It's been around quite a few years. Why do you think they keep repeating and repeating old and debunked stories?

I'm trying to figure out whether Romney - Fanatical Hypocrite

[ In Reply To ..]
will say anything to get elected, like most politicians, or whether he actually believes the things he says. When he says he's a staunch conservative and then says he's a moderate, does he believe both at their respective times? Can he be both in his own mind? Right now does he have Fox News and MSNBC on split screen while dressed in a tye-dye business suit, his wife on one side of the couch, his husband on the other?

I don't know how politicians do it. How could you go on the campaign trail day in day out for months or years, lying and selling pieces of your soul so us slobs at home can think "This guy wants to help me." The same moaning, screaming, belligerent masses that will tear you apart for every mistake once you're in. It takes me at most a year to come to hate the sitting president.

Election season is grating on me.

Well I know that Obama will say anything to get elected - and the stupid and ignorant will believe him

Every politician lies. Just the nature of it. Mitt's lies are no worse than Obama's lies.

Mitt still gets me vote because the O years have been a disasters.

Looking forward to the country improving under President Romney.

I can understand that - Fanatical Hypocrite

[ In Reply To ..]
It's been a hard 12 years with a great number of disasters. Obama's responses to them have not always been optimal even in my opinion. I can understand wanting change. Also, Obama does lie. A lot. Comes with the job apparently. Politics is in a sad state in general.

The main reason I'm voting for Obama is that I feel he did reasonably well given the issues he faced. I would have been 10 times more radical than Obama and Bush ever were and likely run this country into the ground (even I'm thankful I've never been elected).

Besides the fact that for whatever reason I think Obama did a good job, I also, as one may have guessed, have an extreme dislike for Romney. I just don't feel he'll be looking out for my best interests or those of the people I care about. None of my friends are in the top 1%. Some are even in that bottom-feeding 47%.

One day I hope I get a president that lives up to the hype. I'm also not holding my breath.

Once I figured that out, life got a lot easier and less stressful. Now it's a simple matter of not putting complete stock in anything any of them say, and figuring out which one's platform aligns most closely with my own beliefs. That way, even if no actual progress is made, at least I can reasonably assume there will be no attempts to do harm to the institutions I value.

? How can Romney "help" Sensata? - backwards typist

[ In Reply To ..]
He's not the President. He's still a private citizen.

As for the Jeep story, here's the REAL DEAL (and, may I add, the reason you don't read or believe blogs, right or left, without doing your own research/verification):

Romney was apparently responding to reports Thursday on right-leaning blogs that misinterpreted a recent Bloomberg News story earlier this week that said Chrysler, owned by Italian automaker Fiat SpA, is thinking of building Jeeps in China for sale in the Chinese market.

The Bloomberg story, though accurate, "has given birth to a number of stories making readers believe that Chrysler plans to shift all Jeep production to China from North America, and therefore idle assembly lines and U.S. work force. It is a leap that would be difficult even for professional circus acrobats," Chrysler spokesman Gualberto Ranieri said.

Romney could have said "I do not want American jobs outsourced to China." Obviously Romney owns(ed) a huge percentage of Sensata since he reported a charitable donation of $405,000 in Sensata stock that he received as “partnership distributions” in 2010 and 2011, according to his tax returns.

Why won't he release his returns from 2000 to 2009? What is he hiding? KB Toy profits, ClearWire?

Over the last two years, Congressional Republicans have forced a 43 percent reduction in the primary FEMA grants that pay for disaster preparedness. Representatives Paul Ryan, Eric Cantor and other House Republicans have repeatedly tried to refuse FEMA’s budget requests when disasters are more expensive than predicted, or have demanded that other valuable programs be cut to pay for them. The Ryan budget, which Mr. Romney praised as “an excellent piece of work,” would result in severe cutba ...
