Mitt to displaced flooded out LA woman: Go home

Posted: Sep 2, 2012

Her house had no electricity and was submerged in flood waters, along with her phone.  Another earth-shaking insight he mumbled while touring the emergency command center with Gov Jindal:  "People down here need help"....his idea of looking presidential.  GOP disaster management at its finest.

Obama's ""response"" to emergency:: - Play Golf!! Ignores victims altogether

ûObama Will Not Rest Until BP Spill Stop
President Barack Obama said Wednesday the 26th of May that he will not rest until the oil leaking from a ruptured oil well in the Gulf of Mexico, and added that the disaster underscores the necessity of seeking alternative fuel sources, Fox News Channel reported.

So Whats happened since the 26th of May?

May 27 2010 11:00 AM Obama and Biden take a photo with former President Bill Clinton and the U.S. World Cup Soccer team.

To begin, the BP oil spill is not a NATURAL disaster. It was a corporate greed disaster that ultimately was blamed on BP, Halliburton, and Transocean had attempted to cut costs and safety corners, a decision that triggered the explosion and ensuing leak. Are you suggesting the government was supposed to usurp corporate CEOs authority and simply march in and take over the next day? Really?

Now, about Obama's natural disaster response. Jindal is whining about stingy pre-hurricane prep federal resource protocols, the same ones the Bush administration used before Hurricane Gustav in 2008, which, naturally, he did not publicly criticize. Meanwhile, Obama approved the state’s disaster declaration.

Jindal called on the federal government to shoulder the full cost of the federal, state and local preparation efforts (sounds downright socialist to me), tone deaf to existing policies that call for the federal funds to supplement costs the state budget cannot handle. He conveniently forgot how the Bush administration fought over exactly who would pay for what in 2008.

On the other hand, NOLA Mayor Mitch Landrieu, GOP Senator David Vitter and Senator Mary Landrieu have all praised FEMA’s prep response, saying FEMA has been more proactively engaged than ever before.

As an aside, it’s worth mentioning that the Obama administration implemented a new system where some $1.5 billion in disaster aid funds are available for hurricane, tornado and flood victims BEFORE they occur. VEEP wannabe Ryan wanted the program scrapped, a notion that older, wiser party elders nixed, an imperative that gained bipartisan support after last year’s spate of tornadoes.

Thus disaster aid does not compete with other programs for funding, nor does it rely on ad hoc measures. Obama used a rather unique approach to garner the bipartisan support, but letting the coffers run low, allowing pressure for action to build from both rivals and allies. GOP procedural maneuvers to effect passage of an $8.8 billion disaster relief agreement were OPPOSED by Paul Ryan, along with 66 others republicans. The new system also bans pork barrel riders to disaster relief bills

Seems that when disasters happen, even the staunchest of tea partiers want government to step in and bankroll motels, meals, temporary housing and house repair expenses. Ryan would like to change this by using disaster funding as an excuse to cut government funding elsewhere…..and we all know what his favorite targets look like.

Reminder: In response to winger whiners taking exception to dem/lib constant requests for sources, which they somehow found offensive, a couple of months back, the moderator ruled that it is a matter of choice whether to post sources or not. Prior to that, I had always done so, and as a result, had been called names, hounded, dissed, stalked and piled upon.

I read two articles and wrote my reply. There was no plagiarism involved. Your attack on me instead of the content of my post says a lot more about you than it does about me. If you don't like the moderator's rules, it's not my problem, so I suggest you take it up with her.

with the intent to twist their post.

So using your logic (or lack, thereof), as long as it is not a "natural" disaster, damn the victims and hand Barry his golf bag. No problem with Obama ignoring victims, playing golf and taking more than a week to even bother to acknowledge their plight. Ummmmm, another example of leading from behind???

P.S. A suggestion for you - If you cannot convey a poster's post correctly, and cannot stop interjecting YOUR thoughts about what they meant, what another poster was thinking, best for YOU not to post at all; you get it wrong every time. Derp

her off-topic departure from natural to corporate disaster management, then steered the conversation back on topic. Tell ya what. I'll respond to your concerns just as soon as you understand that what an elected official does in his off time will never, ever qualify as viable political dialog. It's trash talk with no merit whatsoever.

Try to get this straight. The POTUS does not have authority to simply immediately step in and takeover management of a private corporate environmental disaster. If he had done that, we all know what kind of he!! he would have to pay from the potty mouths.

Now, you'll have to excuse me. The buzz-buzz in your post is putting me to sleep.
Sad thing is, YOU think YOU said something - worth addressing-Hahahahahahahah

Here's what context looks like. - A direct quote from the woman....

[ In Reply To ..]
Jodie Chiarello, 42, who lost her home in Isaac’s flooding:

“He just told me to, um, there’s assistance out there,” Chiarello said of her conversation with Romney. “He said, go home and call 211.” Chiarello said she will likely seek some other shelter because her home was submerged in the flooding.

Neither report I cited in the links provided any editorial comments, embellishments or suppositions....just the woman's direct quote, which speaks for itself.

He told a displaced flood victim to go home and call 211. It's up to the reader to decided whether or not that's "cold," not Newsbusters spin machine. Besides, "cold" is not what comes to mind first for me. As a Gulf Coast resident, the word "clueless" is more like it.

The question is whether anyone should believe her or not. - And I can't think why anyone would.

[ In Reply To ..]
But, it suits your purposes to believe someone you don't know the first thing about, despite the fact that you know perfectly well the story is highly improbable.
And yet, some people who can't stand... - (see message)
[ In Reply To ..]
...Obama will believe a "volunteer investigator" who we don't know the first thing about, who says they traveled to Hawaii and can't find ANYONE who actually remembers Barack Obama being born, so, case closed--he's not a U.S. citizen.

What possible reason would some poor flooding victim have to diss Mitt Romney by lying about the story? I don't know whether to believe or disbelieve her, to be quite honest; she could have misunderstood him, be confused, or have slightly misquoted him for all we know. I just don't understand on what basis you figure her story is "highly improbable."
Wow. You take the word of a habitual liar over - a flood victim?
[ In Reply To ..]
Here's what I know first hand from Hurricanes Carla, Alicia, Ike and Tropical Storm Allison. When water enters your home and stands waist-deep in all ground-floor rooms, destroys everything you have worked your entire adult life to build, when your car has been flooded up to its windshield wipers while parked in the street, when you are displaced for months at a time, living hand-to-mouth with friends and other displaced family members, when yhou are unable to enter your own neighborhood because of flood waters and debris piled two-stories high in the streets, and when you go 5 weeks before utilities are restored in 100-degree heat an AC.....when that stuff happens and turns your world upside down, time stands still, your brain goes somewhere else and THE VERY LAST THING ON YOUR MIND is partisan politics.

I've seen a lot of pathetic posts on this forum but this has got to be one of the worst. Your guy screwed up, for Pete's sake. Deal with it.
You do all the time:You believe habitual Liar Obama - and then have a melt-down
[ In Reply To ..]
When others refuse to follow your blind devotion to habitual liar Obama that would not know truth if it bit Obama in his buttocks (that should keep happy the one reporting A$$ usage faster than you can blink).

You won't even believe Obama's lies when Obama is quoted or Obama states it in his book.

Obama first class liar - DEAL WITH IT!
Guess what? You can't lay Romeny's screwups - on the president. nm

Also, the BBC, Bloomsberg News? They all had the correct report.

Jodie Chiarello, 42 of Jean Lafitte, was one of the women who spoke with Romney and said she had told him, “I lost everything.”
“He said that he was going to do the best that he could for us.” Chiarello, a Republican who declined to say who she was voting for, said she was pleased Romney visited to be “supportive.”
“He’s good, he’ll do the best for us, he has our best interests at heart,” she said of the candidate, adding that he was different than she’d expected.
“I thought he’d be more like a politician, but it was more understanding and caring,” she said. “He was caring.”
Romney told the women that FEMA could point them in the direction of shelters.
