The Great One Speaks on Afghanistan
Posted: Nov 21, 2013
On November 20 (yesterday) George W. Bush (AKA "The Great One") was on Jay Leno. Here what he said about
DRAWING DOWN IN AFGHANISTAN: “I don’t know how big the footprint needs to be, but I do know that if we leave too early, women and young girls will suffer a lot,” Bush said of U.S. troops’ exit from the country.
I just do not understand why the Republicans are not happy. ;
Maybe because we can like and admire a leader and still be able (sm) - Abby

to think for ourselves? We don't fall in lock-step like some. IOW, not as easily duped, for the most part. I didn't agree with everything President Bush did, unlike the Obama fans who just mindlessly follow along. I think that's why we're not all happy.
Wrong. Many of the president's supporters - think

he's too moderate and WAY too willing to compromise, think ACA did not go far enough, think he went too far in Afghanistan and have taken issue with him on countless other policies along the way. My own impatience with how long it took him to "evolve" on gay marriage, how slow immigration reform has been and how he has not been more aggressive in standing up to the destructionists on jobs comes to mind. Still, I can assure you that, all things considered, the dems and libs are a pretty happy bunch of folks, if for no other reason than the fact that W's reign of terror is a thing of what is now becoming the remote past....even though we are still suffering the consequences of its fall-out to this day.
She's not wrong. She gave her opinions - On the same note I could say

you are wrong. If you think he is too moderate then you are for living in a society like North Korea, because he's no where near moderate.
He is occupying the seat of the President of the United States. What that means is he IS supposed to compromise. As in you give a little, we give a little. The United States is a multi-party country. That means there is more than one party. There are democrats, republicans, libertarians, communists, green party, etc. The country is not ruled under just democrats (or republicans) for good reason. It's called checks and balances. If you don't like compromise, again there are countries out there that are ruled like that. That is not how our country is or is supposed to work. Can you imagine if all republicans got in. Everything was republican, Senate, house, supreme court, justice, etc. If you wouldn't want it all republican, then you know why we don't want it all democrat.
There are a lot of issues many of us don't care about and don't affect us. Gay marriage, abortion and other social issues. Those issues don't affect us and we could care less. Destruction of the economy, making our country unsafe, drones, immigration, people losing jobs, food stamps being cut off, social security, rising taxes, people losing their home, health care, education those are issues that affect us. Right now it is going at an alarmingly high speed, which is very scary for most people. I don't care that there were jobs lost under Bush, what I do care is that the jobs are continuing to be lost under Obama's regime. I do care about the decisions that he is making while sitting in the office that is destroying many people's lives. For the democrat/liberals to come out with the "I've got mine so I don't care about the rest of anyone" attitude is a sad mark on our society.
How you felt under W's "reign of terror" is how we are feeling under Os "reign of terror". You didn't like it when he was in, but you think its okay that we should have to live under it now. That again is the "I got mine and **** the rest of you" attitude that is dividing the country more and more. You think the reign of terror is a thing in the past? How very sad that you cannot see what is happening in our current days events. The reason we are still suffering is because it is continuing on. No thanks to Bush.
The country has more than a million people. Everyone in the country is important and everyone's needs are important. Not just democrats. It would do the liberals well to remember that.
I only took issue with the "mindless following" dig. - by

giving examples of how my fellow dems DO. NOT. DO. THAT. Speaking of lock-step mindsets, I've heard that exact same accusation coming from the Flox Shrews crew dozens of times. Misinformed. As usual.

Do you disagree with GW Bush's remarks on Leno? Are you saying you are going to disagree with Obama simply to separate yourself from those "who just mindlessly follow along?" Wouldn't that be just another form of mindless following?

I'm never pro-war, but a sudden pullout could be very dangerous for us as well as the Afghan people. I would very much like to see American aid based on "performance". Karzai may have been elected, but he's corrupt and inept.

The suicide bombing Wednesday that took the lives of seven CIA officers and contractors in Afghanistan may have had help from an informant close to the spy agency, and may have been carried out on behalf of a Taliban warlord family that was once an ally of the CIA, news reports say.

Reminder: Obama Promised War In AfghanistanAug 23, 2017On Monday, President Donald Trump laid out his strategy for the war in Afghanistan going into 2018 and beyond. While reaction to the strategy was somewhat mixed, there was one thing that stuck out: Wait, didn't former President Barack Obama say that we'd be done with this by now?
Why yes, yes he did. Let's take a trip in the way-back machine and look at some now-regrettable tweets, dug up by Fox's Stephen Miller:

U.S. Identifies Vast Riches Of Minerals In AfghanistanJun 14, 2010Think of the potential! Amazing! The war, the terrorists--all of it.
WASHINGTON — The United States has discovered nearly $1 trillion in untapped mineral deposits in Afghanistan, far beyond any previously known reserves and enough to fundamentally alter the Afghan economy and perhaps the Afghan war itself, according to senior American government officials.

Afghanistan And Horse Comment By Obama Last NightOct 23, 2012Here's a story and link of the following:
Although the glory days of the United States Cavalry are long gone, horses still serve the military. At Smith Lake Stables, adjacent to Fort Bragg, N.C., 36 horses are owned by the U.S. government and serve their country in two assignments. In one assignment, they act as equine ambassadors, linking the civilian public to the military. The horses are used in an annual summer camp program and in weekly day camp activities for home-schooled kids. But ...
