Sick of both

Posted: Nov 1, 2010

I have been reading all the bashing on here for Obama, Democrats, Republicans, Bush, etc.  Frankly it is getting ridiculous.   You see, reading these posts makes me think of what Congress does.  Everybody is bickering and nobody is doing anything.  The comparison is not meant to put anyone in particular down, it is just getting old, just like our government (including both parties).

Frankly, I don't believe either party runs this country anymore.  I believe the financial institutes, oil companies, pharmeceutical companies, automotive industry, etc. run this country.  All the special interest groups have taken over for a long time.  Laws in this country are there to protect them, not us.

I really don't know the answer on how to fix this, other than firing all the members of congress and the president and starting over.  I really wish we could do that.  Again, no any party or president in particular.

It is such a shame because anybody out there who would honestly do a good job without favoring big business would never make it.  They don't have the support of the big business and the money from these big businesses for support.  It is horrible.  This country is going down the tubes.  It has been for a long time, not just this year or even just the Bush years.  Congress reminds me of a bunch of children who are just going to argue and argue and never get anything done.  There is no such thing as what would benefit the country, just which party would be benefited or which big businesses would benefit.

We are rolling into another election.  Frankly, I know I should vote, but I don't want any of them.  Even in the political ads, they spend money and air time slamming the other guy, instead of talking about what they are going to do for the country.  They ALL make promises and don't keep them.  The only thing going on in this country is the rich are getting richer and the poor are getting poorer.  I am not knocking the rich or the poor.

My grandparents came to this country many years ago and worked very hard.  They saved their money and worked many hours and they started a business.  The business is still strong and going today.  They got that way by selling products at a fair price and valuing their customers, not by ripping us off and demanding huge profit margins.  They lived well, but did not do it at the expense of the public and not to the degree that corporate biggies think they need to live at these days.  They realized the value of making the customer happy and not the value of how many tax loopholes they can use and how high they could go on price before customers started complaining.  They would have never thought of sending work overseas to make more money.  They loved this country and kept all their work here.

We need people in office who are not willing to sleep with big corporate heads to benefit themselves.  We need people that are willing to stop this nonsense and driving our country into the ground.  We need people who believe that if you want to live here, you need to do it the legal way.  We do not need to support and pay for people that come here illegally.  They need to go back to where they came from and do it the right way.  We need to take on the attitude of taking care of our citizens instead of taking care of everybody else in the world.  We are the ones paying their salaries, not these other countries.  We need to stop bailing out big businesses everytime their profits are not big enough.  We need to make these big businesses responsible for their actions instead of us fixing it when something goes wrong for them.

Do I have the answer.  No!  But, I do think we need candidates that are of another party besides the dems or the pubs.  I believe we need a party for America and not parties for the dollar.

Thanks for listening to my vent.  I am just sick of the childish political games that go on all the time and wish we as the people could figure out how to make it stop.  We need to take back our country from the big business people and their puppets, our government!

What I am REALLY sick of is the big corporate money and foreign money that is buying all this negative ad space and filling it with lies.

I agree that we "the people" seem to have lost our voice, but our only hope is to study the issues and make a good choice and act on it. There a plenty of good, hardworking representatives out there. We need to make sure they can do their jobs by supporting them. It needs to be "we, the people", not "we the corporations and India and China."

I feel the same way you do. DH is ready to throw something through the TV because of all the lies.

Big business has it made. The good politicians can't be elected because you never get to hear anything from them because big business doesn't fund them.

Thanks to the courts, it's even worse this year than ever. Today, the day before election, I have had 10 robocalls and every commercial break is political ads, one on top of the other. I never thought I'd wish for a car commercial. LOL

The laws need to be changed but that promise was also broken and until someone decent stands up to big business, we're doomed to this crap.

The one I love the most is an ad telling us not to vote for so-and-so because he never created a single job. Of course not! He wasn't in any political position where he could create jobs.

I only wish people vote with their heads and not their hearts this election, but I also know that the wish will never be fulfilled.

ZThe only thing we can do is keep letting the politicians know where we stand on the issues and maybe, just maybe, they will start listening. (That's another wish of mine.)

I am sick of both too, however.... - sam

This midterm election is not about Obama personally or political parties to me. If JOhn McCain was in the White House and we were in the same shape we are now and he had followed the same paths Obama has and Republicans had the majority, I would be going to the polls tomorrow and voting a straight Democratic ticket instead of a straight Republican ticket. When you have double digit unemployment, foreclosures out the kazoo, you do NOT keep spending....that is not rocket science. Congress, get a clue...I hope you get a real wakeup message tomorrow and don't get comfy, Republicans. We will be watching YOU next.

I agree, except all we do is bounce back and forth. Although, some will not admit it (not you personally), but we were doing the same complaining when republicans were in control. Unfortunately, we have two parties that always have control and neither is worth anything. All they do is bicker to make the other party look bad and nothing gets done. We really need to complain strongly to the people in office at all levels. Some don't think this helps, but I know it can help. We vote them in, but we need to keep on the ones we vote in to make sure they know what we want and keep fighting for it. I know I have written and written to my senators and representatives and many others must have to because it seems they are finally listening to us about jobs going overseas. Though it takes a lot of time to get them to do anything, there is at least talk. Many, many complained about the health care in this country, and whether you like the plan or not, at least it is happening.

This is how we need to make things happen. We cannot continue to complain and then just let these people have at it, we need to keep them informed on what changes we need and what concerns we have.

I'm sure if the pubs take over, we will be hearing how they are failing and they will if we don't keep our voices to them going. Vote today, but keep writing them afterward!

I agree....that is why I said Republicans don't get comfy.... - sam

If this election plays out like they say it will, it will send a clear message, because I believe a lot of Democrats are just as disgusted with what is going on as are Republicans and will be voting Republican...again to send a message. The message is that there is too much power at the top now and not enough at the state level, that this runaway spending has to STOP, and this intrusion of the federal government into the private lives of its citizens needs to rolled WAY back. It has gotten ridiculous, and the feds use federal grant money to manipulate states, and that needs to STOP as well. Oh yes, I will be writing and I will be watching and if the Republicans drop the ball, I hope another message gets sent. I don't care what party they belong to...they need to listen to the people who elected them. And I believe today will show that a lot of people, democrats, republicans, independents, tea party, constitution party, whatever....a lot of AMERICANS are awake now and I don't think they will be going back to sleep anytime soon.
I've gotten to the point where - sm

I'd personally like to see everyone vote for an independent and send a serious message to both parties that we are tired of the BS and we don't want either them.
I think we are headed that way if one of the parties does not wise up... - sam

to use a trite phrase, "The times they are a changin'." It will take some time, and honestly, if the Republicans don't put up or shut up this time, I think they will be toast and in 2012 a new party will emerge and they will go the way of the Whigs. Their future is in their hands. And the Democrats better start heeding their members that don't live in LA, San Fran, NY and Chicago, or they will end up in the same boat. The majority of America in the flyover states in ALL parties have had ENOUGH. That is what I think you are seeing.

I Have Been So SickOct 27, 2009
Is this just the flu?  Fever, unbreakable, at a brain-boiling 101 for 48 hours.  I took toxic amounts of alternating Tylenol and Advil, with tons of GatorAde and ice water, but could not break it.  All day Saturday and Sunday, just burning up.  I was seriously tempted to start making funeral arrangements.  And cough, so bad that now my rib muscles are ripped, hurts every time I cough or sneeze.  Body aches, everything hurts, head, shoulders, knees, elbows, back, hip ...

The attacks on president Obama are not something new from the republican party. President Clinton was subjected to the same rabid persecution from Whitewater to Monica Lewinsky, anything to dismantle his presidency.  Thankfully he prevailed and is still respected for his accomplishments and his statemenship.  In the case of Clinton vs Obama, republicans eventually caught Clinton in a compromising position with Monica thus revealing his weak points, sex and women.  In the case of p ...

Help With Sick DogMar 18, 2010
Kelsey, my 12-1/2-year-old miniature Schnauzer, has had arthritis for a few years. She was really in a lot of pain last fall and the vet suggested baby aspirin. I have been giving her baby aspirin and she was like a puppy again...until this past weekend. Just all of the sudden, she is back to feeling miserable. When she stands, her hind legs and front left leg shake. She did let me take her for a walk just around half of our block today but since then has been in bed and not getting up at all. S ...

Sick Mother-In-LawFeb 24, 2010
I am submitting a prayer request for my sick mother-in-law. She has only had one kidney for many years now. Recently, she was taken to the hospital to have a large kidney stone removed. (It required surger.) Her kidney functionality went from 30%to 10% in one week. I believe she will have to start immediate dialysis. I am worried and sad. I am praying that her functionality will come back. The doctors were hoping for that. She is the grandmother of my daughters, and I do not want anything to go ...

Okay, so I've got a tumor in my parotid gland that needs to be excised.  Radiologist leaned towards benign; surgeon leaned toward malignant, as the tumor has tripled in size over 6 months and now there is another nodule in my neck area.  My CEA is also elevated into the 4s; not a huge elevation, but elevated nonetheless.  My H&H are also concentrated.  Neither of these are reassuring. My surgeon did say an elevated CEA is usually more associated with colon cancer t ...

Aren't they supposed to be working for us not against us?  Why does each side think it's okay to take the American people hostage as long as it furthers thier agenda?  It's not just the tax cuts that will expire, but it also puts into motion the defense cuts that were never supposed to happen, which could put more than 1 million people out of work.  I think every single one of them should forfeit thier paycheck until they come up with a plan that helps everyone, not ...

Feeling Guilty About Sick HusbandFeb 28, 2011
My husband had terrible lower back pain and went to the doctor last week and was told he most likely had sciatica.
