From The Atlantic yesteryday: "The political world is in a tizzy over hidden-camera footage of Mitt Romney at a fundraising event. Here's the money quote -- literally -- from the Mother Jones scoop:
There are 47 percent of the people who will vote for the president no matter what. All right, there are 47 percent who are with him, who are dependent upon government, who believe that they are victims, who believe the government has a responsibility to care for them, who believe that they are entitled to health care, to food, to housing, to you-name-it. That that's an entitlement. And the government should give it to them. And they will vote for this president no matter what ....These are people who pay no income tax.
As a moderate liberal/progressive ive who's been paying income tax since I was 16 and will not be voting for Mr. Romeny, I'm wondering where on earth I fall in this, 47% plus me, or are there other income tax payers who won't vote for him?
Link below to the rest of a very informative and readable article on Mitt Romney's attitude toward what he sees as a "group" who won't vote for him.
My suspicion is that this weirdly defined construct actually reflects Mr. Romney's views toward all non-Mormons, conservative and liberal, who accept paying into centrally administered government funds instead of centrally administered Mormon church funds plus private savings accounts, i.e. people of his own faith. If so, what does this mean for his agenda as president?
