He actually failed to give credit to the WOMEN who assembled the list of qualified candidates, compiled in 2002 (BEFORE Romney was elected) by the Massachusetts Women's Political Caucus as part of a Massachusetts Government Appointments Project study. In other words, it was not assembled by his staff at his behest.
Oh, by the way, women made up 42%-54% of his administration in 2003 (there are two studies with different figures on this), but by Nov 2006, their presence was down to 27%. Also, according to a University of Massachusetts study, none of the higher positions such as budget or business development. They were placed in positions the gov had little to do with.
I guess token representation is better than no representation at all, but it does not exactly translate into fire-breathing feminism either.
