Rep. Moran=Moron: IOW, another politician who won't answer questions asked by women

Posted: Mar 12, 2013

I don't give a darn what anyone on this board says about who asked the questions. This isn't about WHO asked the questions....it's about what this representative thinks about women and it's about the answers this Rep. decided to ignore.

If you "don't give a darn what anyone on this board says about who asked the questions", then how can we respond? I'm afraid to say anything about the video now for fear you will interpret it as an attack.

Posters don't interpret posts as attacks unless you attack - The Sarge - sm

them personally.

You could respond by watching the video and then giving your opinion on what you think of it.

Truthhurts posts good posts. If you give your opinion about the video without personally attacking her by calling names or telling everyone here not to listen to her, she doesn't know what she's writing, look at past posts, etc (not saying you do, just using those as examples), then that is what people want to hear, your opinion about the subject being discussed. It's when people poke fun of posters is when others take that as an attack.

Truthhurts was was simply stating it doesn't matter "who" stated the question. She doesn't care what anyone says about "who", she wants to talk about the content of the video and what they said in the video. Don't try and change a post and go off key by talking about everything except what the video subject matter is about. That's all.

We'd like to hear what you think about the content of the link she provided.

I watched the video, and I was struck by the speaker's weak argument. I really don't think this has anything to do with politicians not answering questions from women.

You see, it kind of does matter who the speaker is. It's just that given the preemptive strike in the original post, I feel like I'm not supposed to go there.

I would not have even noticed the identity of the speaker had it not been brought to my attention.

It's just difficult to respond to a post that tells you what you are or are not allowed to discuss.
She didn't tell you what you were not "allow to discuss" - The Sarge - sm
[ In Reply To ..]
She simply stated she doesn't care about who stated the question it's the video she wanted to discuss, not "who". Nobody is keeping you from giving your comments about the subject matter being discussed.

It's pretty easy to respond to posts. You listen to the videos or read the questions and then you discuss what is being talked about. Truthhurts never said what you are and are not allowed to discuss. She was probably trying to keep the message on track as usually she gets bombarded to the same posters attacking her for her opinions.

Pretty simple really. Just talk about the content of the video or the subject matter being discussed.

I just don't think you should try to speak for the OP. She was clear, I understood her post. I have no argument with her.

I understand that the OP wanted to discuss the video, not the "who".

I posted a fair question to the OP, and she is free to answer me if she wants, but she certainly doesn't owe me one.

All I'm trying to make clear to you is that I happen to care about the "who" in the video. It's hard for me to respond to the video without discussing the "who". You directing me to "just talk about the content of the video or the subject matter being discussed" tells me I should stay away from discussing the "who".
That's cool - The Sarge - sm
[ In Reply To ..]
Just wanted to clarify that nobody was telling you that you couldn't discuss something.
Difficulty following? May I ask what in heck you are talking about? - LM

What?

I'm not sure what being a man or a woman - has to do with anything.

[ In Reply To ..]
American men are more likely than women to be victims of violent crime.

I don't think turning this into a gender issue addresses the real problem.

There's also no way to know if he was ignoring her because she is a woman. Politicians happen to have a habit of ignoring questions.

Which part? - BillyJoe

I am unclear as to where in the proposals for gun laws where it states women cannot bear firearms?

Between this and faux outrage over Feinsteinn's PTSD comment (used to be called shell shock or combat fatigue and the last time the law was written it was not a problem that is as prevalent as it is now after a decade of war and an ongoing war) just shows that all the right wants to do is throw up strawmen instead of solve problems. SMH. But hey, NRA is making their clients some big cash, that all that really matters right, the almighty DOLLAR!!

Wow - reader

[ In Reply To ..]
I really don't know what to say. I can't believe he didn't even try to pass some sort of bs pat-on-the-head response.

I hope they vote him out next election.

If the issue had been birth control - Tired, but happy.

I bet this board would have been hopping about what a ditz she sounds like.

In Answer To SM's Questions About H.R. 1406May 10, 2013
I didn’t want the answers buried because the original post is pretty far down the page.   You don't HAVE to take the compensatory option. You volunteer for it. If you want your OT paid in cash the week you work it, then so be it.   You said: "One other thing I'm not finding or maybe it's there and I don't understand the legal jargon: Is the OT that is converted into PTO time and a half? Do I get a half hour extra for every hour of OT?"   Yes, that&# ...

How Do You Answer A Nosy Friend's Questions?May 13, 2015
I have a very dear friend of nearly 40 years and I have not one thing negative to say about her except that she asks what I think are inappropriate questions. For example, without fail, she will always ask the price of a big ticket item. She doesn't broadcast the news, she just wants to know for whatever reason. I am getting together with her soon and know she will ask the price of something BIG that I bought. She has no idea how long I saved and what I sacrificed to do this. Does anyone ha ...

Women Of Certain Age, Not Able To Post AnswerNov 06, 2015
Wrote below about office calling in 4 different medications I do not take at present, did not ask for including inhaler, steroid cream, arthritic cream, an anti-inflammatory. I went to the office this morning, told the doctor ordered, asked to talk to office manager, too busy and then nurse came by and was told she ordered. I was told by the nurse, "if you don't want them, just leave them, don't pay for them." I thought perhaps I had by mistake been called in another person's meds ...

Older Women Versus Younger Women And Trump/ClintonOct 10, 2016
Women who "like" Trump are invariably older and don't like Hilary Clinton because they were raised in an era of economic competition with each for men. In the old days, men generally took care of their women, and some women lucked out with good men and some stuck it out with bad ones. Young women can take care of themselves economically so aren't as threatened by other women so they're more apt to go for HIllary. Older women also don't like Clinton because she stuck with her ...

Stop Telling Us We Have To Pretend Men Are Women And Women Are MenAug 05, 2017
I have a lot of compassion for anyone who struggles with the biological gender with which they're born.  I can't imagine how confusing or painful that is.  However, I will NOT say you are a man when you're a woman or vice versa.  This asinine legislation about the bathrooms does not make sense.   Whatever your feeling is about this issue, ask yourself what is true.  Because the truth may be distasteful to someone does not make it untrue.  If you stru ...

Poll: President Obama Still By Far The Most Popular National PoliticianApr 14, 2010
By Stephen C. WebsterTuesday, April 13th, 2010 -- 11:15 pm For all the talk, saber rattling, obstruction and fervent peddling of alternate realities Republicans have engaged in since President Obama took office, one might think they'd be doing a little better in the polls, even if by merely playing the role of a lesser of two evils in the eyes of the masses. Not quite. President Obama is still by far the most national politician in the United States, according to a new CNN poll [PDF link ...

DVR QuestionsFeb 19, 2011
These are probably stupid questions but I don't know anyone who has a DVR so I thought I'd come here to ask about it. We are thinking of getting a DVR service so we can quit the VHS taping merry-go-round, etc. Before I sign up, though, I'd like to know something about it from someone who's not trying to sell it to me! I understand that basically you can put in the name of a show you want it to record, and any time that show is aired it will record. Is that correct? So ...

Some Questions About HPV. Any InformationDec 01, 2015

General Questions On FlexibilityApr 05, 2010

What Questions Would You Ask An Accountant Before Becoming A Client?May 10, 2011
I've had it with ours. We don't get full copies of our filings back and he never files until the very last day if we owe taxes. He e-files through some company. Yesterday, I received a letter from the IRS that WE DIDN'T FILE FOR 2009! We certainly did but we can't remember how much we had to pay the IRS, if any. We do have checks for local and state taxes paid last year, but not federal. All I get his answering machine when I called (twice). I don't want to call the IRS ...

Tech-type QuestionsJul 16, 2016
I posted earflier about how my local cable TV/internet/telephone company started blocking TV channels unless you rent a "box" from them.  I lost my temper and broke my bundle.  I cancelled TV and phone, ordered Direct TV, moved my phone # to a tracfone, and left internet intact because it's fast and high quality. It turns out that Direct TV couldn't get a "line of sight" to their satellite and so couldn't install.  I called Dish Network, and they're supposed t ...

Bread Making QuestionsJul 17, 2014

I'm going to give up and get a bread maker.  I see they come with recipes, but I cannot tell if you can use your own recipes in them.  Does anyone have any experience with this.  One of my favorites is a receipe for Pioneer Bread which uses some corn meal.  It is not heavy like rye, which I understand does not work well in machines. Any advice on this would be appreciated.  I am becoming alarmed ab ...

Perimenopause Questions - Looking For NaturalNov 01, 2014
Been visiting many different sites regarding perimenopause.  That is what I have.  While I don't have all the systems I do have 95% of them (luckily no hot flashes or night sweats though).  What really is getting to me is urinary incontinence.  It doesn't matter how much I try and hold it until I can make it to the bathroom, it doesn't work.  Been looking up what vitamins I should be taking to help control some of the symptoms (not going to go on rx meds) ...

Toaster Oven QuestionsJan 01, 2016
Does anyone own a toaster oven.  Our oven broke and is cheaper to buy a toaster oven than fix ours.  The only thing we really cook in the oven is small stuff (roast a chicken, cookies, brownies, melt cheese on our sandwiches and things like that).  No huge turkeys or whatever. So I'm looking at toaster ovens, at least a 6 slice toaster.  Does anyone have any recommendations or ones to stay away from.  We went to target and some were flimsy.  We are looking at ...
