;"broodmare" is exactly the same thing I said out loud sitting here reading the above. And also thought of Margaret Atwood's "The Handmaid's Tale." May we never, ever see anything resembling that kind of dystopian future (though the GOP's constant attempts to take possession of women's uteri does feel eerily similar).
Duvall is one of my favorite actors, so that helped. The book is still better, but this is a case where I don't think I'd suggest that you *definitely* should read the book before seeing the movie.
