Rick Perry: Homosexuality is like alcoholism.

Posted: Jun 12, 2014

He thinks gay people should just fight the urge to be gay like alcoholics fight the urge to drink.

No really, he really thinks that.

My feelings are legalization of it now, then down the road will be legalization of what NAMBLA wants and next, man and animals.

Marriage is between one man and one woman, so sayeth the Lord, and His word is the only word that matters.

And no, I don't hate anyone, including gay people, I just disagree with man trying (in vain) to rewrite God's word.

We don't base our laws on the Bible. - I get that's your personal feeling

[ In Reply To ..]
but it's a slippery slope when we start creating laws to support religious beliefs. We don't want Sharia in the United States.

As far as gay marriage leading to bestiality or children, marriage is a contract between 2 consenting adults. Do you think that's going to change? Do you think we're suddenly going to stop protecting children and animals because gay people got married?

I wonder what kinds of things people said would happen "down the road" when we voted to give women and black people the right to vote.

We've already stopped protecting children..... - Tina

I base my laws on the Bible. I am only concerned with what God thinks ... not man. Man won't get me, my loved ones, or friends into Heaven - nor can man save the world. Jesus is the one I strive daily to please.

The laws of the land (which the Bible commands us to follow cover the commandments. If man can't get anyone into heaven how is it anyone's place to play God on earth?
As far as I know....... - Tina
[ In Reply To ..]
The only person "playing God on earth" is our president, but it is unfortunate that you believe a person who believes in God (the Trinity) is playing God on earth. If you read the Holy Bible, you'd get a thorough understanding of how that works and know that no one's "playing God" (save Obama) -- at this point in time anyway....

Marriage is between 2 consenting adults. - thankyouforbringingthetruthtotheboard

[ In Reply To ..]
Not animals and not children. Conjecture based on fears of bestiality and child molestation have no place in a conversation about gay marriage.

God is not our lawmaker. Follow God's law as you see fit, but know that he does not lead our country and we are not all of your faith. This is why are able to do things like get divorced, wear gold jewelry, use God's name in vain, save our own money and treasures as we see fit, speak in church as women, and practice medicine instead of prayer when we are sick.

God IS absolutely our law maker ... - Tina

So you're saying it's not all right to discuss some types of perversity when discussing other types of perversity?

It's no secret that a large majority in our country (and the world) live down deep in the gutter, and it's getting more depraved by the day. I'm not just talking about homosexuality but people living together not married, people having babies out of wedlock, people getting divorced left and right, a vast majority addicted to drugs, murders (abortions) taking place daily, gun shootings occurring practically daily now, total violence run absolutely amuck, few morals, few ethics, a country being practically overrun by illegal aliens who are bleeding our country financially dry, a president in office who's doing everything in his power to degrade and destroy our country and making no apologies for kicking God straight to the curb, and the list goes on and on. And people wonder why our country's in the horrible mess it's in and why it's been reduced to the laughing stock of the world. In today's culture (for the most part) loyalty's just a tattoo, love's just a quote, and lies are the new truth, but on the bright side, many are aware of the truth.

This is the last post I'm going to make on this subject since my opinion's not going to change, yours won't either, and there's no point in beating a dead horse into the ground, but in case you were unaware, our country's currently under God's judgment, and it's only going to get worse. Next year should be very enlightening, indeed -- meaning a h_u_g_e shaking since His past many haven't gotten the attention of many. God said it would happen, and it's going to happen; otherwise, He would have to apologize to Sodom and Gomorrah, and I believe His intention of doing that is zero.

Lastly, regarding the subject in my post, God IS our (man's) law maker. Man can say He's not until the cows come home, but He always will be because you see, His word overrides the mere word of man, and it always will.

In closing, God bless you (and yes … I really do mean that!) :)

You have to have faith that he will deal with sinners as he sees fit. As mortals and Christians, we are witness to Him by leading OUR lives to please him, not to judge or tell others how to lives theirs.

God says to follow the laws of the land:

Romans 13 from the New Living Translation:
1 Obey the government, for God is the one who put it there. All governments have been placed in power by God. 2 So those who refuse to obey the laws of the land are refusing to obey God, and punishment will follow. 3 For the authorities do not frighten people who are doing right, but they frighten those who do wrong. So do what they say, and you will get along well.

For eons and eons, man has done all he can to "take things into his own hands," and look where's it's gotten him.

[ In Reply To ..]
When mortals take things into their own hands rather than letting God tend to business on judgment day, we get things like across-the-board prejudice (i.e., piercings, tattoos, gay rights, civil rights, etc.), war (many in the name of religion), murder, and other atrocities (Hitler is a good example of trying to judge and take things into his own hands).

A civilized government exists to maintain law and order and keep its citizens safe, not to pass moral or religious judgements.

[ In Reply To ..]
I do believe in God but a few members of my family do not. They are more moral and generous than many so-called "Christians."

Historically America was founded on religious freedom and freedom of prosecution and/or judgement for religious believes or lack thereof.

Your post is offensive and furthermore, IMO, does not belong in this forum which is of political context, not religious.

I know you mean well, but would it be okay for one who devoutly worships Satan (who does exist), come here and preach in the name of Satan in the context of politics? It would be legally acceptable since we DO have rights to worship whomever we want in this country as long as no legal/governmental laws are broken.
I'm sorry you find my post offensive ... - tina

I am not trying to force my viewpoints on anyone, nor am I judgmental (as Jesus advocated). I'm not sure why you don't offer the same.

Unfortunately you appear not to respect or acknowledge constitutional rights of gays, people with tattoos, piercings, and those who do not believe in God.

When we espouse our religion as the ONLY accepted religion, our God as the ONLY God, and want to impose it politically, it reeks of an agenda by a German who is demonized by some and worshiped by others.

Again, please don't apologize. My prayers are with you. :)

according to our Constitution, although the country is based on freedom of religion, freedom FROM religion is also a freedom in this country.

And the "intertwining of politics and religion" is something the Constitution has tried to avoid. Look at all these Third World countries where religious zealots have taken over (or are currently TRYING to take over) their country's government. Look how well THAT'S turning out.

The fact that religious zealotry and bigotry turn out such narrow-minded individuals as yourself speaks volumes for not taking all that voodoo seriously. It's a crutch. It's a fairy tale. It's a fable. Nothing more.

Some are now pushing for a 3- or 4-way marriage. While I don't agree with everything in Tina's post, there is some truth to it.
Yes, some of those people are extremely religious also. - sm
[ In Reply To ..]
Mitt Romney can tell you about these people pushing for 3 or 4-way (actually 7 makes a quorum, I believe, but I am not Mormon) plural marriages. Their LDS faith actually instructs them on this. Mitt Romney is a Mormon and believes in some of the same tenets these people who want plural marriages do, as they are from the same faith.

Now, if Mitt Romney were the POTUS, would I be trashing him with all kinds of colorful adjectives and adverbs and saying how he was trying to wreck the country, etc., because he is a Mormon and because he believes that the second coming of Christ will be in Jerusalem and then Christ will reign from there and also from Jackson County, Missouri? (video at around 8:05)

Ummmmmmm, No!

A person's faith and love of his country can coexist. Our Constitution protects all religions and does not promote one over the other. I am an Obama supporter but had Romney become the POTUS, I would wish him well and hope for the best for our country.
I was not referring to polygamy in the traditional sense. - SM
[ In Reply To ..]
I was referring to three women married to each other, three women and two men married to each other, etc.
Oh I see - Polygamy is A-OK
[ In Reply To ..]
As long as it's ONE man and however many women he wants, that's the only acceptable form?

Hmmm, that sounds a bit like, well, yeah, a harem. Whoops, Sharia law, Sharia law!

Besides which, "traditional" polygamy is illegal in this country, so obviously any form of marriage, even illegal forms, are okay EXCEPT same sex?

And that's okay to impose on the rest of us?
Your hostility is misdirected. - SM
[ In Reply To ..]
No where in my post did I say that I agreed with polygamy. In response to the poster who said marriage was between two consenting adults, I was merely describing what I've recently been hearing. If you want my opinion, I am against all forms of marriage that are not between one man and one woman. It is also my opinion that marriage other than that goes against God and nature. So there. Now you have something to get hostile about. Get a grip or get over it.
I beg your pardon - no hostility in that post
[ In Reply To ..]
Honestly, a little satire and pointing out inconsistency and you call it hostility? Not at all.

I am not hostile over your opinion either about 1 man 1 woman. I just happen to disagree with it. I have a very good grip, thank you very much.

I would dispute same sex marriage goes against nature, how so? As far as going against God, I would not know, I do not need religious crutches.

So how about you "get a grip or get over it?" (I have just copied EXACTLY what you said in your post so please don't whine to the moderator.)

I hardly think that is all - that marriage is about
[ In Reply To ..]
Do you?

The only thing that matters is if/how they have sex? Many "natural" married couples don't even have sex, so why is it so important?

A loving relationship is what marriage is about, a choice to commit to another. It does not necessarily have anything to do with the sex act.

As a matter of fact, two male animals will try, I have seen bulls in the paddock do this, so that is natural also.

Let's talk "corrupt to boot," shall we? - Tina
[ In Reply To ..]
If you wanna' talk "corrupt to boot," let me direct you to the criminal who sits in our WH - you know, the slime ball who (1) lies/covers up/fabricates and deceives as necessary; (2) puts politics before our military; (3) keeps our borders soft on illegals; (4) nominates radical, liberal Supreme Court judges; (5) dismantles our military defense systems; (6) has destroyed health care for millions and turned his back on the VA's doings and those who died because of that; (7) refuses to speak in any place where the cross is hung; (8) negotiates with terrorists and undermines our nation's military and YOUR security (for which many have died and ARE dying); (9) spends money like a drunken sailor on steroids; and (10) does everything in his power to destroy you and your lifestyle (and that of your children and grandchildren) and the country you live in.

It all should send a chill up peoples' spines, but for some on this board, they'd rather wah-wah over a remark Rick Perry made. It screams loudly about their priorities and their morals and explains exactly why we have who we have as president.

So news flash: Before your very own eyes, the good ole' US of A is turning into a socialist country - a country who, for the most part, is void of all morality - wallows in vile (encouraged by our president) - doesn't have the backbone to stand up for itself or its friends - and is the complete laughing stock of the world. Pretty hideous! And to think of all those who died for this once-great nation or have come back from wars with missing limbs and head/body injuries sickens me.

I'm out of here for now because quite frankly, the level of stupidity I see on this board is appalling, but I encourage you to argue on with your friends who are outraged over Rick Perry's remark and those who are ripped because they aren't getting enough free food stamps, want another Obama phone (because they cracked it when they threw it down in a rage after learning they might have to take a pee test to get more Obama freebies and knew they wouldn't pass) etc., etc. Remember: Obama's counting on you (and others like you) to focus on the tiny picture and ignore the big picture - the one that's going to end up taking you down and under the rule of his terrorist buddies in the not-too-distant future, at which point you'll have no rights at all - including gay. The terrorists behead gays, but I'm sure you knew that already (?).

But, more importantly, what happened to love thy neighbor? Whatsoever you do to the least of my brothers, that you do unto me?

BTW, I love President Obama, and believe he is a great leader.

BTW also, I am not religious, yet I feel I am more of a follower of Christ than some "Christians."

I believe Jesus did exist and was a wonderful example of how to treat people and associated with all the lowlifes of his time, tax collectors, prostitutes, etc. He associated with them and loved them, did not judge them.

Peace to you.

Now here is a subject I can speak of with firsthand knowledge. - sm
[ In Reply To ..]
Some people just believe whatever they read. I am gobsmacked daily sometimes at the level of sheer ignorance I see in this country.

I actually can give an eyewitness account of exactly what this poster is talking about in one of the "issues." I actually looked into the eyes of the President of the United States who spoke at a memorial service in Waco, Texas, where several first responders lost their lives in an explosion. The President had gone to the opening of the George W. Bush Library in Dallas that morning and had then flown by helicopter over West and then to Waco in order to attend the memorial service of these men. I attended that ceremony in order to support some friends who lost their brother in the explosion.

President Obama was in a room full of people in a city in one of the most conservative states in the country, and people were genuinely glad he came and spoke. Some of them were even surprised but nevertheless grateful. It was a somber room full of people, as you might imagine, and there were Democrats and Republicans, but people put all the politics aside to honor these men. They all came together in that room for the common good, and believe me when I tell you there was not one single cross in that room when he spoke over the caskets of those fine Americans....

There were at least 100.
WOW! - sm
