Obama: 'There's no way to say race relations are worse'

that he, Eric Holder, Al Sharpton, and Jesse Jackson are just a few well-known racists. They all have done a very good job of proving it.

I don't agree with the president that race relations are better. They seem much worse to me. That said, I have to wonder: what things do *you* think the president has done to make them worse?

From my perspective race relations took a noticeable turn downward when Obama was elected, before he even took office. Before he /did/ anything. Except, of course, have the gall to be elected to the highest office while being black. That's really the 'crime' that has so many people upset, and which has resulted in worsening race relations.

The bigots barely hide their true feelings behind code words and phrases, but that's what is really behind every claim that he's a Muslim, and every 'birther' whine (clue: McCain was born in Panama and Cruz in Canada, but you don't see a bunch of conservative whites claiming they're not eligible to be president).

So yeah, I think race relations have soured, but I think that can be placed entirely at the feet of people who don't like that our twice-duly-elected president is black.

Don't be pulling the race card into this. - Truthhurts

What do you call it when whites voted for him too. Did they vote for his white or his black side? (that's what some people say and I'm just being sarcastic).

Of course, it's not overwhelng but a large portion of whites voted for him. So whites had faith in this guy both elections.
What race card? - Doubts
[ In Reply To ..]
Yes, I'm aware that a great many whites voted for Obama. How is that remotely relevant to the argument I put forward? Being white does not automatically make one racist against blacks.

I'm not playing a race card. Perhaps I'm playing a *racism* card, in that I'm suggesting worsened race relations have little to do with anything Obama has done, but instead is just a result of reaction to his skin color.
Very logical - sm

Illogical that since whites voted for Obama, thus racism does not exist as regards President Obama.

It can only be said that THE WHITES who voted for President Obama are less likely or perhaps even could be said that they are not racist.

This is just reiterating liberal talking points. (sm) - LM

if you noticed a downturn in race relations "even before he took office". That was when the people vetted him. He was never vetted by the media. Never. Still isn't. There were a lot of questions that have never been answered, or were answered with lies. The media protected him by saying people didn't like him because he is black, and that continues to this day. I for one believe that sitting in Rev Wright's church for 20 years and claiming to "not know" what he preached is only bought by people who don't want to face the truth. I mean really. His relationship with terrorist, Bill Ayers. If that was a republican, you know darn well, that would have been brought to the forefront instead of making excuses. His background, being raised around Communists and Marxists, his hidden school records, all of it. There's too much to even go into here. But that would explain the 'why' that you question. Had nothing to do with him being black. But his being black held a definite advantage for him. Do you realize what he could have done if he were so inclined, to bring the races together? Any remnants of racism left he could have contributed greatly to eradicating it. But instead at practically every turn, right from the beginning, he chose to divide us. Example: Commenting on the nutty Harvard professor who was black and his friend. He defended him saying the (white) cops acted stupidly when he admitted in the same sentence he didn't have any details. That's just one. I'm not going to send out a whole litany of his divisiveness. But he has sure taken advantage of his race. He had a golden opportunity in this country to make things better, which I think a lot of people thought he would do. You know, hope and change. Well, we got the change and now there is not much hope left. And the media still protects him. Do you ever wonder why?
Very well said, and I couldn't agree more. - NPC

His antics and cronyism have caused a very wide rift that just may be irreparable. I feel sad for our country.

As a child of the 60s, growing up in the deep South, I hope race relations are better. I think there has been some enlightment on the part of many about racism and that it really is.

I think most people want to stay with what is familiar, and there is a real fear of the unknown. I also think that most people black, brown, and white have a "live and let live" attitude toward other people. Maybe I am just naive, but I want to believe people just don't look at the person's color and that's all they care about.

Typing RaceJul 04, 2010
Thanks to the person who mentioned "Typing Race" online as a way to increase typing speed. (Can't remember what forum.) It is so fun and addictive. Maybe I am just web-illiterate but I had never heard of it before. I am re-learning to type on a Dvorak keyboard, to help my carpal tunnel, and it was sort of (very?) discouraging to be reduced to slow, hesitant typing. But Typing Race is making it so much more fun. Sometimes you get matched up against the same people on different races and the ...

Liberals Using Race CardMay 01, 2010
"The liberals that are making false accusations about Tea Partiers must stop!! This is dirty, outrageous, and wrong!! The Democrats and liberals in the media have consistently entered into a smear campaign of tactics consisting of false accusations, hateful rhetoric, and incendiary comments.
