that scapegoating is fun and easy, even the most ****************** understands that the economy is not in the control of one person, president, political party, government or country, whether it is a great economy or mediocre economy. Really, if you want to ************, there are probably plenty of other things you can choose besides "the economy."

to talk to someone like that? Maybe she does live in a trailer. So what? *****. But I don't report rude posts. I'm grown up. Don't worry, I realize that I could "hate on" Obama (WTH?) about many other things. But it's the economy he wants us to focus on now, his recovering economy, not the "phony" scandals.
No, you don't understand!!! - right thinker

You are absolutely wrong if you think that the economic mess we are in is not the fault of the govt -- big tax and spend and regulate democrats and go-along with it RINO republicans are 100% to blame for this. Things do NOT happen in a vacuum. That kind of vague thinking, that everyone and no one is responsible, may make you feel more comfortable, but it is time to pay attention and understand WHY things are the way they are, and start placing the blame where it belongs!
Fine, then I place the - blame

Have you EVER looked at actual votes in Congress? - PetesSake

Get a clue! Stop watching Fox and go investigate for yourself. Check out the votes when President Obama tried to get through a jobs plan! Check out what happened when President Obama tried to block incentives for offshoring our jobs--something that every MT should be concerned about! Check who voted these things down!!!!! RESEARCH AND *****!
Kind of hard to research bills when you don't point to specific bill number - Truthhurts

There were 27 or more job bills put out by the House alone.
Which ones were you speaking about? Which congressional session: 111 1st or 2nd, 112 1st or 2nd, or 113? Earlier than that?
A lot of people on this board have jobs and can't spend hour searching each and every one, so it would be nice to know which one(s) you were specifically pointing out.

Do your own research! The proof is in the pudding. I do not listen to any of the talking heads. Google and locate the official and actual bills and votes and take a look at who is doing what. It is eye opening! Then stop being enabling the idiots--don't carry their water and encourage other hard-working citizens to vote in fools who don't have our best interest as their goal.

who actually have our best interests as their goal? I would love to know who they are because it seems to me that the only interest of any politician is self-interest.
I suppose - NK
[ In Reply To ..]
that would depend on what you consider to be your best interests. For instance, there are posters on this board (and in the country), patriots I believe they call themselves, who think it is in our best interests to have a failing economy and no affordable health care in anticipation of the self-satisfaction of blaming the president. My mother used to call that "cutting off your nose to spite your face." But, to answer your question, Sherrod Brown serves my own interests quite nicely.
You must be from Ohio too :) - ZvilleMT

Hey fellow Buckeye :) I don't totally agree with everything Brown does, but I am glad Voinivich is finally out!!
I don't think that the posters on the board or the politicians think we should have a failing economy and no affordable health care, they just don't agree with the way things are being done right now. The economy is already failing and DC keeps spending money, mostly because they know they can keep printing it out of thin air, and the ACA is a mess. I'm not in favor of repealing the whole thing, but I think they need to delay and revamp it. The ones in congress that are trying to defund it think they are playing to their base. I think that those who want a government shut down are in the minority (I could be wrong, though).
I think one of the main problems in politics is that everyone thinks their way is the only way and there's no room for compromise. Take the ACA, for example. There were so many things that both parties agreed on - they should have started there, passed a bill on that, and then discussed the other issues afterwards. Too much "me, me, me" thinking going on over there for my taste.
I like my governor - The Sarge - sm

It's sad when you vote for someone because you believe their lies that they are really going to work for you. Granted I don't know everything about my governor, but he is well liked and my husband said he is one of the very very few that is doing things to make our lives better. He is John Kitzhaber. I also like Dennis Kucinich. Think he has always tried to do what is right for the people, but I don't know what happened to him. Just don't see him in the news anymore. Is he even in congress anymore? Not one politician in WA that I can think of is doing anything for us. It's all to enrich their own lives, but those are those are the only 2 I can think of off the top of my head.
I like Kucinich too... - ZvilleMT
[ In Reply To ..]
He's now a contributor on Fox News if you get that channel (or watch it). His district got redrawn and he lost the primary, so he's not in congress anymore. He was sometimes kinda wacky, but I think he did try to do what was right and not what was popular - he certainly went head-to-head many times not only with pubs but with dems too.
I didn't know that. I don't have cable/TV here - The Sarge - sm

On Kucinich there were a lot of things I disagreed with his ideals about, but what I liked about him was when I would hear him question people I felt like he just wanted to get to the truth of things and like you said not what was popular. There were a few times when I would hear him question people and I thought he was wrong and badgering them and I used to sit at my TV yelling at him, but as an overall I think he tried to do best. There is a lot I don't know about him too, and I don't agree with everything he did, but I feel he was doing what he thought was right and i liked that about him.
Our governor is voting on issues he feels would be the best for us and not is what is popular in WA. He doesn't seem to be intimidated and if he feels something is wrong he will not vote for it no matter how much pressure the DC crowd puts on him and that's one of the things I like about him.
I don't watch Fox or any show (no TV) so didn't know he was on there. I think that is good. Gives them a good balance of opinions.
I also liked him because he was not afraid to say he actually saw a UFO once and he didn't care how much he got ridiculed. LOL

Are you even here in the United States?

the propaganda they buy into. In-laws in San Diego had to file bankruptcy in Nov 2008. They couldn't quite make it through W's reign of economic terror. SIL holds down 2 jobs she didn't have back then, BIL's business is doing well, they just put a down payment on their first home and are also able to insure their kids' health.
My son's best friend moved in with his parents in Colorado in Jan 2009 after graduating from college in June 2007 and spending the interim unemployed. He just got a promotion to department head on the job he found in March 2011, moved out from his parents in June that year and got married. His wife found her job after nearly 3 years of unemployment in Oct 2011. They are expecting their first child in December, paid off his car loan and just made a $4500 down payment on a 2012 4Runner for her and the baby. They can afford full insurance on both vehicles and medical insurance that will more than adequately cover the delivery and pedi bills.
My husband's business nearly went belly-up five years ago. He had to sell off all his equipment, start working from the house and cut his small work force from 5 down to zero. Today, he's no longer working from home, has replaced about half the equipment he lost and is looking for a third employee.
I left MT in March 2009 after my pay rate reached half of what I was making at the beginning of the Bush administration, vowing never to return. After 4 years of unemployment, I was able to create my own home-based job as a transport dispatcher. What I like most about what I do now is my job can't be outsourced and I am able to pay all household expenses to help support my husband's effort to rebuild his business, essentially from scratch. We live in Texas.
My girlfriend and former coworker, who also lives in Texas, left MT back in 2010, and moved back in with her 88-year-old mother and sister, who has AIDS and is not able to work. She enrolled in a fast-track community college billing and coding program, has been receiving paid OTJ training and has a guaranteed full-time position waiting for her in Jan 2014. She's looking forward to her financial independence and eliminating her mom's role as primary caretaker for her sister.
I don't know anyone in ID or MI, but if I did, I suspect they would have similar stories to tell.
YOUR examples. Overall, the Obama economy - stinks! ...as well as the morale... just a fact.

"It's the function of the company you keep".
I know plenty of people who had jobs when President Bush was in office. They are now out of work under the Obama regime. This is happening all over the country. A new report just came out 4 out of 5 people are out of work.
You like Obama so you see only good things. I voted for Obama. Sure he is a likeable guy, nice looking great singing voice, but lousy at hiring the right people to get the economy back.
With that said. The decisions he is making today and in the future are not Bush's fault. The economy is his baby now. He even said in his campaign he would take responsibility, so now this is his.
Four out of five people are not out of work. - You have to be joking? nm.
We're actually okay here in CA, too. At least - in my section.

I just bought a new car and now we're saving up for a house (not very excited about that--I actually prefer to move every two to three years. I get bored). We've traveled more than I've traveled in the last 20 years.
I know it's not the case everywhere, but I think we live in a bubble here. There's just a lot of old money and if you can afford the rent, you're set here.
