Are the police, in general, for or against
Posted: Sep 1, 2015
As more and more responsible gun owners own guns, I wonder how this is going to work out for everyone.
In this story, it is uncertain if homeowner had a gun. But, if he did, and if he shot the cop entering his home without warning, who is right and who is wrong?
http://www.msn.com/en-us/news/us/police-officer-shot-after-responding-to-wrong-home/ar-AAdOB7J
Meanwhile, someone is taking pot shots at people driving in Arizona. Oh, I am so glad guns are readily available to just about anyone who wants one.
Turns out the guy who shot the cop in Houston had been declared mentally incompetent in 2012. He still had a gun in 2015. Haven't heard if it was illegal---like that matters a bit.
Less guns ===== less shootings, or, seriously, did we just not hear about the shootings? I know we would have heard about the big ones, like the journalists in VA and the policeman in Houston, but would we have heard about all the others that seem so rampant now. Fairly certain all the ones involving children "accidentally" shooting their parents and siblings were buried and just considered "accidents," so they were not as heavily reported, but I also think it is happening more often.
Just in case this is confusing as to how I would handle guns---I would eliminate them from anyone's hands but the police officers, and make the police officers responsible for their actions, i.e. they will pay for their mistakes, so they should be more careful. Perhaps a bit more taser training would help them.;
So then you would take away my gun, my right to protect - myself, as a woman?? SM

How dare you. I'm 57 years old and live in a fairly decent area, but there's still always a risk that someone will try to break in.
I have a friend, a retired social worker, 64 years old and she's in a bad area because she's on disability and cant afford anything else. Are you going to take away her gun as well???
You want only police to have guns. You better sit down and start talking with all the criminals who buy guns illegally and commit their crimes, talk them out of doing that.
Until the criminals stop stealing or buying guns illegally, I'm keeping mine even if it's a crime. Then I know I'll be safe if I'm in with all the criminals who have guns.
Yes I know how to use the gun safely and responsibly, I have a concealed carry permit for years, and know the laws. Mine was legally purchased at a shop with full background check done thru state and fed levels, not from some crook in a back alley somewhere on the lower east side at midnight.
Ditto! I recently got my permit to carry, as did my - daughter. We feel much

Yeah there is a big jump from where we - are to a gun free society

but that question,
If the cop comes in through your door unannounced, pursuing the burglar, in the wrong residence, and you shoot him, are they going to prosecute you?
And, I have absolutely no desire to have a gun for protection. My father tried to get me to carry a gun on the south side of Chicago as an 18-year-old, I told him they would just take it from me and shoot me...he didn't disagree. I prefer escape routes from house. They want my TV that bad, they can have it.
Chicago has some of the most antigun laws in the nation, - yet they are #1 in crime. If you

Yes, it would be an extreme change and it is a pipe dream.
Have a friend who is a big gun advocate. Carries in his car (don't know whether it is legal or not), around here people don't care much, until they are caught, of course.
Anyway, he came home to find "people" in his home. One was carrying his TV, the other was carrying his daughter's Crayola bank (lol) anyway, he went back to car for his gun and turned to see the people leaving by his front door, not carrying his TV at that point, but the bank was found in the nearby woods. He had a real moment of truth...he found he couldn't really shoot anybody. He felt violated that they had been in his house, but he didn't have near the bravado about this that he talked.
Of course, this is nothing like being faced with personal violence. I can see where people might end up shooting people in "self-defense" but I don't think I would ever shoot someone over stuff.
My gun is for self protection and to protect my - family. Most people would

Parents home broken into--all that was stolen - was the guns

I like police protection but I don't need the government taknig care of me. - No nanny state for me.

The liberal position on EVERYTHING is having the government take care of everything. No, thank you! Especially not the government in this current administration.

General Questions On FlexibilityApr 05, 2010I have recently been inquiring about a new career in MT. I learned of this website and have been reading feverishly to become as informed as possible.
