Moochelle visits Buddhist temple. Cost to the

Takes me 3 years to earn that much. What a waste of taxpayer money.

Okay I didn't know Buddhist temples charged anything. Are you sure she didn't use that money for clothes.

Why on earth would she even have to visit one. What point or purpose?

I don't understand how Democrats can defend this behavior. - LM

When the Bushes did the exact same thing for 4 days? Didn't hear a peep out of Fox News and the hypocritical right-wing fringe then, did we?

Well, FYI, Michelle Obama is doing her job as First Lady of the United States of America.

I can only surmise that conservatives must therefore enjoy the trade deficits that exist between our countries and probably also see inherent value in demeaning other countries' religious institutions. Right-wing media plays into their fear and hatred of both Buddhism as well as their hatred of Michelle Obama. Oh, how pathetic.

This type nonsense, in my opinion, is why conservatives are not fit to be leaders of the free world. In order to lead the free world, you should be required to have a rudimentary understanding of foreign relations and be able to treat others, although they might not necessarily be in lockstep with your rigid worldview, with a modicum of respect.

Unless there's a double, President Bush is with the First Lady - Truthhurts

They were TOGETHER on a tour of Asian countries for political reasons, trade, policy, etc. Big difference.

Why did Michelle go to Japan? She cannot make any decisions on foreign policy, trade, etc. She has no authority in presidential matters.

Michelle and Obama always seem to take separate planes to go anywhere and she usually doesn't accompany him on his political trips. What's up with that?

I'm tired of it all because it costs the taxpayers too much for her to be taking separate trips. That cost could have lowered the debt and/or deficit spending quite a lot with only the cost of Air Force One at $288,000/hour. Figure how many separate trips they took over the 6 years and add it up. It probably could have shaved at least $1 Trillion off the debt/deficit in a year.

Using the excuse of having to take care of the kids as Michelle has done countless times doesn't fly. After all, that's why her mother is supposedly living there.

So, the link just showed that the Bush's were "in tune" with protocol and respected the hosts of the countries they visited. Won't say that for Obama and Michelle.

That's what I was going to say. Great minds and all. LOL (sm) - LM

All first couples take trips together to foreign countries. Mooch sure makes a lot of trips by herself, I've noticed. It costs us a ton of money, and like you said, it's not like she can actually contribute anything. It's over and over with this one. Same thing.

So did it work? Let girls learn? - Expensive trip. Hope so.

in person, individually.  This is how it should be done.  Sort of like deciding whether to attend the visitation or making the home visit to a close friend.  That trouncing down the street in solidarity was a show for the world, with little meaning.  It might have been reassuring for the French, but the U.S. lack of participation or to what degree didn't affect the average person on the street.  The government recognized what was important and those concerns ...

Cost Of Getting Braces Going UpJan 11, 2013
Obamacare Medical Device Tax: As of Jan.1, Obamacare imposes a new tax of 2.3 percent on medical device manufacturers, including those who make dental braces. The tax is imposed on gross sales -- even if the company does not earn a profit in a given year. While the tax will be paid to the IRS by the manufacturer, the tax will be passed along as a higher cost of the product, ultimately to be borne by the parent buying the braces for their child. With the cost of braces being as high as $7,625 ...

Do Doctor's Visit Really Cost This Much?Sep 08, 2016
So, I'm one of those people generally don't go to the doctor unless they are spurting blood across the room, but... A couple months ago, I found a lump in my breast, so I made an appointment with a GYN. I went there, they had me leave a urine sample, he felt the lump, wrote me a referral to a breast surgeon and for a mammogram/ultrasound and told me it would definitely need to be biopsied (freaking me out some more) and that was it. I had the mammogram/ultrasound. His office call ...

Tea Party Could Cost Republicans In CensusApr 06, 2010
By John ByrneMonday, April 5th, 2010 -- 9:00 am Republicans were thrilled when Tea Party-backed Scott Brown won a special election to capture Ted Kennedy's Senate seat in Massachusetts. But they're not quite as thrilled with the Tea Party now. Angst at the government in power may fuel some conservatives to boycott the US census, costing their party coveted seats in Congress for years to come. Republicans could also lose seats in state legislatures if districts are redrawn. The US po ...

The big enrollment drop at MU has been brewing for months, but finally became a reality this week with the start of fall term on campus. MU’s freshman class this year has some 4,799 students, a drop of over 1,400 from last year, when freshmen numbered 6,211. ...

The Cost Of Obama's Regulatory ExplosionJan 30, 2013

To the contrary (as White notes), according to figures published by the Obama White House (see table 2-1), the costs of regulations issued by this administration have dwarfed the costs of regulations issued by prior admini ...

I Think The Cost Of Birth Control Is A Problem For Jul 01, 2014

Raising The Medicare Eligibility Age Would Cost Patients About Twice As Much,Dec 06, 2012
"When economists and policymakers worry about the long-term fiscal crisis, what they’re mostly worried about is Medicare. That’s why a persistent idea during this fiscal cliff season is raising the Medicare eligibility age from 65 to 67. It’s an idea that appears superficially to have many virtues. Bringing the Medicare retirement age into line with the Social Security retirement age seems logical. The change is simple to describe to journalists and the public."  & ...
