A person will only pay $144 IF they are Eligible for the extra tax credits.
Also, what specifically does the policy cover AND how much is the out-of-pocket cost there?
Often, what seems like a great deal really isn't.
Lucky you. - anon

I am sorry, but $144 per month on that income is a FABULOUS DEAL. I so wish I were you. Obamacare promises that only 9.5% of our income will go to healthcare and you can obtain insurance if you have preexisting conditions, which to some is a miracle. While you certainly are extremely fortunate to only have to pay this, I pay well over $12000 per month just on my premium, another $2500 per month on meds, and after a huge deductible has been met, another several hundred to several thousand per month in in-office procedures and blood tests. I cannot even afford to get the surgeries, procedures at surgery centers, and new imaging studies I need. Then add my husband, who know longer has benefits, had 5 heart attackes, etc. I have never, ever had a lapse in my coverage, so preexisting conditions are covered, but because all the insurance companies have covered me prior to him losing his benefits, I had an extremely hard time getting coverage at all. Unfortunately, I have medical conditions that require treatment not available at free clinics or even the ER.
More than 99.5% of my "income" and my husband's goes goes to my medical bills. There is no money left for him or crucial treatment I need.
If you think your age protects you from requiring medical treatment... think again. It just takes a drunk driver or cancer to financially wipe you out or an unexpected pregnancy or illness.
Consider that amount, especially in California so very fortunate. With insurance, I spent close to $1 million dollars in the last 7 years out of my own pocket. Good bye house.
