I would really like to know the answer to why the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and Consumer Reports, along with various phone calls, would ask me to tell my reps to say "NO" to this health care bill. What is it we don't know?
I am trying to read the "new" 2700 page bill but between the back and forth, it gets a little tedious. I dol NOT go by what is posted by any blogs, dem or pub pages. I am wading through it slowly and what I see is some good stuff but also some bad stuff. Some parts of the bill will cover some situations immediately, some 90 days after it is signed, and some parts not until 2014.
I also saw something about Student Loans in this bill, too. What does that have to do with health care? What else is in there that no one knows about? Another tacked on "pork" that doesn't belong.
Also, 72 hours to read 2700 pages is quite impossible. Of course, I'm not Superman, only one little person without a bunch of legal experts to digest anything.

Read closer. Student loans pertain to health care workforce (subtitle C, sections 5201 to 5110). Subtitle D, sections 5301 to 5316 elaborates further on education and training. I don't think providing for well trained health care providers is exactly what you would call "pork."

[ In Reply To ..]I'm just a lowly transcriptionist, not some Hill staffer or professional politico, so please bear with me. I heard one of the reasons for the student loan bill, which apparently was DEAD IN THE SENATE so that's why it was attached to this bill, has to do with money. Par for the course in DC I know, but it takes away the middleman (the banks) in student loans and makes the government the only lender.
If you read the plain English in the bill summary, you will see - whatever you heard
[ In Reply To ..]is not based in fact. If the summary does not satisfy you, it certainly provides you with something you can search for within the full text by simply using your "find" application. BTW, the Senate already passed this part of the HCR, remember? You must be talking about some other student loan program, not the one relative to the health care workforce, which is very much an integral part of HCR.
Why all the bristle just because somebody knows something about the bill? I'm not the only lowly transcriptionist doing just that. Backward Typist is similarly engaged. I have provided the links and cited the sections. Don't be so lazy. Go educate yourself.
