INFORMAL POLL / QUESTION

Posted: May 8, 2014

Ever heard the phrase, "Unite based on what you have in common?"Curious:  What do the various factions on the board think we have IN COMMON?;

You go first. - nm

nm

I go first? It's not rocket science and its - not a trick.

[ In Reply To ..]
1. We all want a living wage.

Go!

Is this about politics or MT wages? - sm

[ In Reply To ..]
If about politics, I want a government that respects the Constitution.

If about MT wages, I would like my previous pay back.
A living wage applies to everyone. - nm

Did you mean to answer me? - Post above yours?
[ In Reply To ..]
If so, I don't get your point. I am NOT the original poster here.
Huh? - sm
[ In Reply To ..]
Yes, I meant to answer you. A living wage doesn't just apply to MT, but to everyone. I'm not sure what MT has to do with it. This is the politics board.
I didn't mention "living wage." - sm
[ In Reply To ..]
That was a different poster. There has been a lot of mis-posting around here lately.
I know it wasn't you that mentioned it. I know - it was another poster.
[ In Reply To ..]
Never mind. It's not worth explaining.
ha ha but let me repeat the poll - question
[ In Reply To ..]
I totally agree with you on the MT WAGES - i.e. why I said we ALL want a living wage.

As to the other point: What do we have in common? I guess we ALL want a government that respects the Constitution.

So that is what we have in common ? - otherwise
[ In Reply To ..]
you wouldn't have responded, right?
Yes, regarding how to live our lives. sm - Feather Tuscadero
[ In Reply To ..]
I would venture none of us enjoy being told where and when we can get healthcare, or practice religion, or spend our dollars, or give up our dollars, or any of 1000 other things the gov't has its influence.
Wherever we each fall on the spectrum of an issue, we all want to be able to decide for ourselves and our family what is best for us.
Well you're entitled to that response - but it's not what I meant
[ In Reply To ..]
For one thing its way too broad with many many different 'takes' on what the government 'tells us to do'

We are now required by law to have insurance - or pay a reasonable premium if you choose not to. That means one has a choice. But the choice one NO LONGER has is to carry no insurance, and expect to be covered via the emergency room... with the total tab picked up by the government/taxpayers.

With regard to religion, any governmental restrictions have to do with federal institutions, like public schools. Not anywhere the same thing as taking away your religious freedom.

I think the things you mentioned can be interpreted very differently by individuals versus something we could unite behind.

I agree I don't want the government over-reaching though...
I was purposely broad in order to include many..sm - Feather Tuscadero
[ In Reply To ..]
When asking what we *all* have in common, answers are going to be broad. I couldn't possibly know what YOU want/hold dear or any other stranger on this board.
It seems you have specific things you're hoping people answer with, and when we're not, you're getting annoyed. Why don't you just tell US what YOU think we all have in common and we can discuss that?
Why are you - angry?
[ In Reply To ..]
I asked a simple question: Can we united based on what we have IN COMMON. Your answer was deliberately broad in order to mask an agenda.

You don't want to the government telling you what to do. OKay that's your answer and it's fine, but try to have a discussion with 10 people about this and you'll see there is no UNITING because every person will have a different 'TAKE' on what this concept means.

I stated: We all want a living wage.
Not obscure and very likely true.

I'll be happy to clarify WHY I posed the question, but I wanted to give people time to think about this concept.
No anger here. nm - Feather Tuscadero

It's about politics. If it was about MT - wages, why would it be on this board.
[ In Reply To ..]
.
Please tell me this has not degenerated into - a discussion about whether this is political or no
[ In Reply To ..]
I don't know if people are legitimately confused or pretending to be...

THE ORIGINAL POST asked about what we all have in common - with the idea that we unite based on what we have in common and NOT let politicians divide us issues we don't agree upon.

TOTALLY political - for this board.

Wages affect us ALL, MT or not, so since I was asked to go first, I said:
we could unite behind the NEED/desire for a LIVING wage.

She's asking what we have IN COMMON. - We ARE mostly MTs, arent we?
[ In Reply To ..]
That sounds like common ground to me.
Exactly! What we have in - COMMON
[ In Reply To ..]
So far I see:

Living wage.
Access to real health insurance coverage.

Well, we're all starving MTs who want bettery - pay & access to good health care.

I suppose we all want our troops out of Afghanistan. nm - Feather Tuscadero

The campaign to mislead the public, discourage conservative voters, etc. is underway, full bore. Do NOT believe ANY polls.  Think for yourself - and VOTE, regardless of any polls that might suggest that Obama has this sewn up.  The DNC had a disastrous convention and they're also trying to make that look like the best thing since conventions began.
