A real poll favors Obama at 53% (AP)

He is at 43% on the daily Rasmussen poll - and Rasmussen

historically gets it right more than any other polling service. Other polls had Obama's numbers up prior to the midterms also and did not predict what was going to happen at midterms. Rasmussen got that closer than any. Just sayin'
Yes, Rasmussen extremely accurate poll. Where I live - in OH, Obama has about 20pct approval.nm

While I have no political heroes at all, will never agree 100% with any president, and have reserved my opinion on President Obama all this time, my opinion of him is getting better every day.
I am glad it is working for you. I cannot - Indy

get ready for a President who swore to uphold the Constitution and has flown in the face of it at least 3 times. I can't get ready for a President who promised me (and the US) that he would be a President for all the people, not just Democrats or Republicans, ALL the people, and then proceeded to act in a manner just the opposite when he pushed through Obamacare knowing that was not the will of the majority.
I had hope, I had hope for change. I no longer believe nor trust him, and all the changes he brought...no thanks.
But, I am glad you are happy.
Well I haven't been hurt by ObamaCare but was hurting with our old healthcare system - See message

We will see over time what happens with the new health care plan. If it means that people like me, not insurable unless I pay 3 times more than other people because of what they consider pre-existing conditions, don't lose every penny they've worked for all their lives when they get sick because we have no insurance at all, I'm for it. It's simple. I could not get insurance before since they priced me out of the market. If I got sick, I would lose everything. Now, I have hope.
There is no guarantee that Obamacare is going - to provide premiums
[ In Reply To ..]
that you can afford...not knowing what you can afford. I have to do without a lot to pay mine.
Obamacare is not going to be free. If the mandatory clause is declared unconstitutional, and they go forward without that but with the pre-existing conditions clause, it will increase the deficit tremendously and it will not be able to sustain itself, because what that will do is reward not having insurance. Why pay premiums all your life on insurance you may never need if you can wait until you get sick to buy the insurance? Those young people who are about 41% of the uninsured in his country will certainly not be incentivized to buy insurance then. A bit of a sticky wicket that.
I do find it a bit strange that your only reason for liking him is the possibility of cheaper insurance premiums, though. But, to each his own opinion. At least for now, that is still what American stands for.
Whoa! Don't misinterpret what I said. - sm

I said absolutely nothing at all about the only reason I liked him being the possibility of cheaper insurance.
That is a t-party way of reading one thing and interpreting it as you wish. I didn't say that at all. Please don't misquote me.
Well, the t-party comment says it all. - Thanks for the conversation.

Some days they appear to just be silly and misinformed. Other days they seem to be mean-spirited, angry, and cruel. Let's just say that they are not joyful people and I would prefer to stay as far away from them as I can get.
Another bash post. Sigh. - same old same old.

and frankly, silly and misinformed about sums up this post. Mean spirited definitely..using "they" like you have personal knowledge that anyone associated with the tea parties (and there are many not just one, it is a movement more than a party by political party standards) is all the things you listed above.
All that really does is make you look silly, uniformed, certainly not joyful, and definitely mean-spirited....same things you accuse "them" of.
You know nothing about the TEA party, so you are - fooling no one.. wasting time.nm

And what do you base this on? What I see - is the tea party folks

reminding Republicans that they needed to stop being Democrat lite and get back to their conservative roots of individual responsibility, fiscal responsibility, etc. I believe the Republicans got the message, but time will tell.
Don't want the Republican party destroyed...but I would like to have SOMEONE, I don't care WHAT they call themselves, getting back to upholding the Constitution, putting more power at the state level than the federal level, individual responsbility, fiscal responsibility, etc. I believe it was a wakeup call for the Republican party. The Republicans are the authors of their own destiny now. As are the Democrats...yet them continue down the same path that got them whipped at the midterms.
Maybe when the dust settles a new party will emerge that actually listens to the American people and still believes in democracy and majority rule. Obviously the run and hide Democrats in Wisconsin don't ascribe to the latter.
Democrats in Wisconsin - mbmt
[ In Reply To ..]
Well, I happen to applaud the Democratic senators that fled the state to give the people of Wisconsin time to find out about the budget bill and what it involved. If they had stayed and voted, the people of Wisconsin would not have known what hit them. I don't know if you have been paying attention, but that collective bargaining bill that was passed without the Democratic senators is on hold for the time being.
Why would you applaud people who left instead - of doing their jobs?
[ In Reply To ..]
Not to mention, they obstructed democracy, which they are supposed to uphold. You applaud the child-like behavior of if you can't win, don't participate? I wouldn't tolerate this attitude from my children, but am supposed to find it somehow admirable in elected officials. Heaven help this country when people who think that this is okay vote.
Democracy? - mbmt
[ In Reply To ..]
How did the Democratic senators obstruct democracy? They left the state to allow the people to absorb what was in Walker's budget bill. The people have a right to know what's coming, and that is democracy. Did Governor Walker care about democracy when he and the Republican senators shoved the collective bargaining bill through without much notice and without the Democrats present? Was that even legal? We shall see.
They refused to vote on something democratically. - How did they not obstruct democracy.
[ In Reply To ..]
So the Republicans held the vote without them. I disagree with that being done, but what were they supposed to do when the vote could not be held because the Democrats were obstructing democracy? Ironic that they even call themselves Democrats and then refuse to participate in the vote.
Point is - mbmt
[ In Reply To ..]
It was not necessary for the Republicans to hastily vote on a bill that strips most collective bargaining rights from most public employees since it really does not fix Wisconsin's deficit problems. This was not something that urgently needed to be done.
No--the point is that they obstructed the vote. - At least in my opinion
[ In Reply To ..]
Why do you get to decide what the point is? You don't like the process, fight to change it, but don't obstruct democracy.
It did not strip "most" collecting bargaining - rights...you are embellishing.
[ In Reply To ..]
I read the bill you posted. They can't ask for a raise above the CPI and they were asked to contribute 8% more to their bennies...neither of which I found particularly terrible.
It might not do a lot to fix the current deficit, but it will certainly keep it from adding TO the deficit....right?
Dont' believe me....read the news - mbmt

Notice the paragraph about collective bargaining rights. There are tons of news articles on this issue.
The collective bargaining law would force public employees to pay more for their health care and pension benefits, which amounts to an 8 percent pay cut. It also would eliminate their ability to collectively bargain anything except wage increases no higher than inflation.
In other words, the only thing they can collectively bargain for under the bill is wage increases no higher than inflation. They cannot collectively bargain for anything else such as work conditions, classroom sizes, etc.
That being said, it looks like the bill will be on hold for possibly two months because of the judge's ruling.
The POINT is...they circumvented democracy - by running from the vote
[ In Reply To ..]
because they did not have enough votes to win. Do you really note care that the foundations this country is built on, majority rules, they just thumbed their noses at and ran? Seriously??
As to the law being on hold...if they throw this out, they will just vote again and it will pass again. Period. Unless the Democrats run again. Do the Democrats plan to hold the government hostage from now until doomsday JUST so the public union workers can ask for raises above the CPI and not have to pay an additional 8% for their bennies?
Is it really WORTH that??
Sorry, I have absolutely no respect for the Dems that ran, and if it been the reverse and Republicans had run I would not respect them either! This is not a Dem-Repub thing, this is elected officials of a democracy deliberately circumventing what our country stands for by running from a vote because they knew they could not win.
And I am very surprised that you take that attitude as well. As long as you win and you get what you want, the rest of your state can just go fly a kite. Not very democratic of you, either, sorry to say.
I also applaud them for doing what I believe is right - Time will tell how it all turns out
[ In Reply To ..]
I think that many people have had second thoughts about some of the people they recently put in office. Time will tell how that will turn out too.
So...democracy only means something to you - if it serves YOUR purposes.
[ In Reply To ..]
That is disturbing on SO many levels, especially knowing that if the Republicans had done the same thing, circumventing something YOU wanted passed...you would not be applauding them, you would want their heads on a pike (metaphorically speaking...well Ihope you wouldn't want their literal heads on a literal pike).
Yep...your attitude is disturbing. And a tad bit selfish. You can have voter's remorse, I certainly do about SEVERAL who hold office right now. However, I still uphold democracy and don't want ANY elected official circumventing that for ANY reason.
I take that back...your attitude is real selfish. Sorry, that's the way I feel, and I am hopeful that you are the exception rather than the rule for a typical American.
I think your reply to the above message is inappropriate and rude - just my opinion
[ In Reply To ..]
Why so argumentative? A person gave an opinion. You start your name-calling again. That's tiresome.
I disagree with your opinion. - not the poster above
[ In Reply To ..]
And what name are you referring to? Selfish? I don't consider that name calling, especially considering that I have been called far worse on this board by liberals.
Selfish? - mbmt
[ In Reply To ..]
Why is it selfish? Oh, I know, because we do not agree with you.
No, it is selfish because you put your needs - ahead of anything else
[ In Reply To ..]
are are willing to compromise the democracy and thwart the will of the majority in order to get what you want.
That is pretty close to the dictionary definition of selfish.
You asked.
My Needs...LOL - mbmt
[ In Reply To ..]
I am obviously not a union member. The majority of the people did not agree with the collective bargaining bill in Wisconsin. Perhaps you need to read a little bit before you tell other people that they are "selfish."
shoe on the other foot? - nh
[ In Reply To ..]
I have to wonder how you all would have felt had the republicans had the power to run away and thereby hold off the health care reform vote. bet you would have wanted them crucified!
since it isn't even in affect - nh
[ In Reply To ..]
A little hard to tell if you have been harmed or helped by Obamacare since it doesn't take full affect for a few more years. And I wonder, do you have any hope for economic recovery with the current administration? Cuz I can say I sure don't have any hope if they keep spending the Democratic way. And I have no job of keeping jobs here in the US or housing market recovery either. So you keep your hope of cheaper insurance premiums. Losing everything, as you say, is relative since more and more jobs will be gone, more and more homes foreclosed, the national debt will bury us all alive, etc., etc. etc. What will you have left to lose?
