Of "slim to none", his chances are on the "none" side.

BS is full of it. - Pardon the pun.

Where has socialism ever worked? (And by the way, don't fall back on the "democratic" thing, which is nothing but some sugar to make the "socialism" more palatable. All societies are fundamentally oligarchic, with power concentrated in the hands of a few, regardless of their labels or the veneer they use to hide the realities.

When you've shown me where socialism works, and works better than capitalism at creating social wealth among ALL classes (yes, our poor are better off than theirs)...gimme a holler. I'd love to see this.
First of all, most, if not all, developed countries have some degree of socialism. sm - VTMT
[ In Reply To ..]
Secondly, capitalism without socialism to balance it leads to fascism. Socialism without capitalism leads to communism. We need one to balance out the other. That is what Bernie is for, democratic socialism. Countries of note? Norway, Denmark, Scandinavia in general, Germany and other countries to a lesser extent. Greece and Venezuela are not examples of democratic socialism. Instead of bleating"socialism" maybe you could specifically say which of Sanders' policies you disagree with?

For YEARS. You know not what you seek if you want pure capitalism. NOT A ONE OF US WOULD SURVIVE.
Absolute rubbish. Who's filling your head with this nonsense - and why are you swallowing it?
[ In Reply To ..]
In fact, unwind the creeping socialism that has burdened the nation, especially since FDR, and you'd see an economy that would boom like nothing you've ever seen.

1. The government is neither the only means of achieving social objectives, nor by far the best one. The government pays out about 65 cents of tax dollars received to recipients, whereas many charitabe organizations return more than 90 cents. The government has wasted $hundreds of billions - and perhaps by now in the $trillions - with redundancy, inefficiency, mismanagement, reams of regulations, and outright fraud.

2. Socialism is not the answer to "bad capitalism." If you have bad capitalism, you will assuredly have bad socialism. Where you get the notion that socialists are honorable, unselfish people is beyond me. Look at every socialist government - and you'll find greed, corruption, cronyism, theft and worse among the ruling elite. And, you'll find a huge underclass with all the poverty, lack of opportunity and the things you think you're eliminating.

I'm absolutely astonished that you seem to know nothing whatsoever about the reality of socialism as it has actually played out in the world. You really need to disillusion yourself.
FANTASTIC POST! Many promoting socialism/communism - are totally ignorant of the fact

[ In Reply To ..]
and the super rich pay their FAIR share of taxes like the middle class does considered socialism?
The tax code is only indirectly related to a country's - economic system.
[ In Reply To ..]
But let's get back to the first problem you have - or, rather, problems:

1. What's "fair"?

2. Who decides what's "fair", and on what basis should that decision be made?

3. What fantasy makes you think that corporations don't pay taxes?

4. What fantasy makes you think that corporations DO pay taxes?

The siren song of the socialist relies on people who don't question blind, ignorant rants and tirades against (whatever inequities might exist), who have no idea how economies function, and who cannot or will not think past the "sweetened garbage" to the next level.

Stop swallowing this tripe!

Just answer the question please. - nm

charities are not on that list. Before Christmas I saw a cautionary list that showed the actual percentage those charities actually give to their cause. It was mind boggling! One of the news programs also did a segment on this. Again, thanks for the list.
I am a capitalist and I am voting for Bernie Sanders! - sm
[ In Reply To ..]
Capitalism is a great system. It motivates people to work hard in order to achieve what they want, but it has some flaws in its current implementation.

In a capitalist society, everyone competes to be the best, but what happens when the deck is stacked?

When large corporations or wealthy individuals don't have to pay taxes, or are provided subsidies that aren't available to the less wealthy, you're no longer living in a capitalistic society.

When racism, xenophobia, homophobia, and hatred make it more difficult for some people to start working towards their goals, you're no longer living in a capitalistic society.

When people go bankrupt paying for school, or medical expenses that aren't preventable, and aren't able to get back to a level playing field, you're no longer living in a capitalistic society.

Bernie Sanders isn't a dirty socialist. He wants to make sure that everyone starts from the same place. He wants to make sure that everyone is able to work hard and achieve their goals. When every American has access to healthcare and education, has food on their table, and a roof over their head, and all Americans are treated equally, the race to the top can begin. That is what capitalism is.

Bernie doesn't want to destroy capitalism, he wants to fix it.
Well, you can fool some of the people all of the time. - There is nothing new under the sun.
[ In Reply To ..]
It's a fool's errand to hold a discussion with someone who can't even see the internal contradiction in the position you support - and I'm no fool, so goodbye.
Realities of democratic socialism---it never - was proposed as pure socialism
[ In Reply To ..]
The government is servicing those that the "charitable" organizations will not service; the people that are not deemed worthy or there are simply too many for the "charitables" to take care of. Is the next supposition that if we did not have to pay as high a tax, that people would become more charitable. Excuse me, while I choke. NOT LIKELY.

In the context of this election we are not talking about pure socialism. We are talking about a democratic socialism. A control of the government services we already have in place with an adjustment towards helping the people instead of corporate America, i.e. instead of going to war, go to universities.

Your post smells of fear. Fear of actually helping the people who need help, which is about 80% of the U.S. population; some more than others. The government will just be the instrument of dissemination of the help. If you want to wait for the church to help, so be it, but don't hold your breath.
