I just love Westboro Church. Got an idea.....

Posted: Mar 12, 2011

Since it's freedom of speech for them to protest, let's take the union protestors, since they like to protest so much, and send them to WBC and let them protest for as many days and weeks they did in WI. (I"m kidding, of course). Do you think if a group protested outside their church, standing 1000 feet away from them, that it would be considered freedom of speech?

This makes my blood boil. Read with disgust:

Those Westboro people are despicable! I wouldn't want to get that close to them - but I have been wishing I could protest their so c

I don't know if they are ill, or if it was their upbringing or their environment, but something is desperately wrong with them. Their behavior is sinful.

Family member says Westboro Church has an eight foot fence around their property.

Have a lot of nerve calling themselves a church. - Vile creatures.

God hates them because they are of Satan.

There is something truly wrong with those people. I have... - ndmt

Now, I don't know if this tactic has been done near the side show performances they put on at the military funerals (I don't even know if it would be appropriate), but at other demonstrations at colleges, etc., instead of traditional sign-waving and screaming counter-demonstrations, people have been putting up a fund raising booth where they collect donations and send them to a group that WBC spews their hate toward... in WBC's name! I love it!

As far as the military funerals go, I really wish the media would stop covering WBC's protests. That's the attention they're looking for. If no media or counter-protests showed up, hence no one to "spread the message to," I think they would slowly stop. They LOVE the media coverage. People should refuse to even drive down the street when they're protesting... just ignore them.

Perhaps if people DID start - protesting

every Sunday while they are in church and annoy the crap out of them, they might (though I doubt it) realize how rude they are.

Westboro Church WinsMar 02, 2011
It was an 8-1 vote - I think Justice Scali was the lone dissenter, but I'm not 100% sure. I salute groups like The Patriot Guard Riders who protect the families of these fallen heros.   From CNN: A Kansas church that attracted nationwide attention for its angry, anti-gay protests at the funerals of U.S. military members has won its appeal at the Supreme Court, an issue testing the competing constitutional limits of free speech and privacy. The justices by a 8-1 vote on ...

Westboro Baptist Church ProtestDec 12, 2010
Thank heavens most of the media did not cover this. They are vile, ignorant people. It's bad enough they protest soldiers funerals, but now they were protesting Elizabeth Edwards death! Where will all this end? I see the Supreme Court is hearing Snyder's case. Pray he wins the appeal. This is not freedom of speech, it's warped rabid hatred of Phelps' ideas of religion. As one commented on the website, "What does the Baptist Convention think of this?" Another wrote "Why don& ...

Westboro Protest Has Been Called OffJan 13, 2011
Thank you, Mike Gallagher. They have signed a contract that they won't protest.    A Westboro Baptist Church official said Wednesday morning that supporters will not picket the funerals of victims of last weekend's shooting spree in Tucson. Church spokeswoman Shirley Phelps-Roper told The Republic by phone from its Westboro's Topeka, Kan., headquarters that plans to appear in Arizona have been dropped in exchange for appearances on two conservative radio talk shows, ...

Tea Party Republicans Love Love Love Ted CruzOct 18, 2013
even among Republicans, according to a survey from Pew Research. But the group is still potent within the Republican Party — which means that Sen. Ted Cruz gets a bit of good news on an otherwise bleak day. "Tea Party" is a necessarily vague affiliation. There are members of Tea Party groups, of course, but Pew largely had to allow poll respondents to self identify. And a lot of Republicans did so. About four-in-ten (41%) Republicans and Republican leaners agree with the Tea Pa ...

Church Gets An Unfair RapApr 05, 2010
As a practicing Catholic who was once victimized by one of my public school teachers and also by a family member, I found this article interesting. Would You Walk Up To Someone At Church And Jun 28, 2011
tell them they are inappopriately dressed?  My 15yo niece has gotten involved with a teen group at a local church.  She's a very nice girl and my brother does NOT let her dress provocatively.  She does have quite a little figuring happening though.  Let's just say she has been blessed. She started going with this boy at church who is being raised by his grandparents and his mother.  Basically, the grandparents are raising him and it is quite clear that they ad ...

I Gave Up Going To ChurchMay 31, 2013
I used to be an avid church-goer. Catholic, back when you went into a confessional to confess what you felt was a sin. Then one day, the priest (in all his glory) during a mass said, "I forgive you all for whatever you have done." That really got my goat. You didn't even have to feel bad about whatever it was you did, you were just now automatically forgiven, in one big swoop. I knew people in that church that were horrible to their children and spouses. So, I just knew that they went to c ...

Separation Of Church And State....Apr 27, 2015
I agree that the government should stay away from religion - therefore, it follows that the government should not be able to tell me how to practice my religion - if my faith follows the teachings of the Bible, then I should not have to pay for abortions since I  believe that to be murder.  It should allow me to refuse to photograph a gay couple - since that goes against my beliefs.  The government has no problem with me giving money to the poor, helping out with relief in Haiti, ...

Unreal. Church Turns Members AwayFeb 25, 2014
This is a church in Indiana that is being torn apart after they dismissed the choral director because he is gay.  The man evidently believes that people want to disrupt the service.  Can't believe the man blocking the door tells the elderly lady, "keep your hands off of me, Eleanor" after she lays her hand on his arm while talking to him. Sad, sad, sad ...

HHS Bankrolled Catholic And Baptist ChurchJul 13, 2014
A month or two ago news broke that Obama’s HHS was calling for private contractors to help transport illegal aliens throughout the interior United States. What made this already big news even bigger is the fact that the original call for proposals came out in January, long before the bulk of the illegal alien surge began. The breaking news you’re about to read is ten times bigger, because the following proves the Obama administration was bankrolling America’s churches back in 2010. And ...

Arrest Made In Burning Of Church In Mississippi,Dec 22, 2016
GREENVILLE, Miss. — Mississippi authorities have made an arrest in the burning of an African-American church spray-painted with the words, “Vote Trump.” Mississippi Department of Public Safety spokesman Warren Strain says Andrew McClinton of Leland, Mississippi, who is African-American, is charged with first-degree arson of a place of worship. Charleston Church Victims' Families Forgive RoofJun 20, 2015
I wasn't going to post or comment this weekend, but on this stormy Saturday, I just listened to some of the most powerful words from the families of the Charleston victims.  They said: "I will never be able to hold her again, but I forgive you," a daughter of Ethel Lance said. "And have mercy on your soul. You hurt me. You hurt a lot of people but God forgives you, and I forgive you." Funny, The Difference Between Charleston's Response To The Church IncidentJun 23, 2015
Wonderful how the community came together - people of alll races, political persuasions, etc.  After Ferguson, etc., it was the most amazing display I think I've seen of this type in a pretty long lifetime. Here, the incident has been used as an opportunity for hateful political posturing.  And, incidentally, let's be real honest.  Anyone can call themselves a conservative, a liberal, or a liverwurst sandwich, but that doesn't make it so.  Roof wasn't a ...

Church Closes Food Bank Because It Attracts Poor PeopleAug 31, 2011

Hey kids! Did you know that President Barack Obama is on trial today? It's true!
