I'm sick and tired of paying hidden fees on my bills

like my cell phone has universal government tax to pay for Obamaphones, my internet bill has hidden fees, and my gas/electric bill has $1 dollar added every month to pay for heat during the winter for "those who can't afford it." We pay for this stuff. All the while I'm lowering my lifestyle, growing my own food, walking instead of driving my 18-year-old car....infinity. There, done venting.;

Like the other poster I am MORE than happy to help others when I can. One day I was feeling sorry for myself knowing I had $10 to last for several days. On the way out of the parking lot I saw a whole family with a sign asking for help. I told them I had to break my $10 and would be back. Within 5 minutes i returned to give them $6 but they were gone. True story. i am hoping someone offered them a ride/help.

so people who couldn't afford them would have access to family, emergency services, etc. It was Obama that extended the program to include cell phones in 2009. I believe it was a woman in Detroit (not certain) who was raving about how Obama was going to pay her mortgage, etc. and give everyone who voted for him "Obamaphones." It was coined as a term of endearment and actually, the term stuck - my SIL is on disability and when she went shopping for her new phone last year, the salesman asked her if she wanted to apply for an Obamaphone.

These are not HIDDEN taxes and they are not new.

And BY THE WAY, the cell phone program offers LIMITED service, and is mainly for the purpose of helping people who lost their job be able to get another one. You know, so there are LESS people unemployed and receiving unemployment benefits?

There are PLENTY of folks who work full time and yet still qualify for taxpayer assistance because they are not paid a living wage. And I'm not talking about fancies... they fall short making ends meet on rent, food, heat, medical care, etc., while the companies they work for rake in the big bucks.

The standard "get a job" answer shows lack of insight into the problem. Many of them/us have full-time jobs!

I'm on the budget plan for my energy bill and every summer/winter budget plan change, my bill will differ $10 to $30 plus a month. One time it went up so much to compensate for all the deadbeats who didn't pay their bill at all during winter just b/c it's illegal to turn anyone's heat off November thru April so they just don't pay anything. I know a few people who do that and I even spoke to an energy employee who told me that one winter they lost $3M in payments due to such deadbeats and the rest of us will have to pay for it including him. That's BS!
