How dumb can the Dem leadership be?

Posted: Aug 1, 2012

Wait - I lie.  This is a GOOD decision.  It will energize everyone in the liberal base that's one-billionth Cherokee.

;

Obama's getting the hook in November. - and it won't be close.

[ In Reply To ..]

When the dust settles on Obama's brief Presidential career, there will be many opinions about his failure, but one thing will be undeniable: A significant reason that Obama will not be elected is that he has governed as a "minority" President, contrary to everything he said during his 2008 campaign.

Obama (and his wife) brought with them into the White House a seething resentment toward the "American culture", and in particular its ethnic history. And this resentment has been evident in many, many ways - from flouting the immigration laws to obstructing justice in the case of Black Panther voter intimidation. It is reflected in his entire philosophy founded upon the ludicrous concept known as "social justice" (not equal opportunity, but equal outcomes), which is - very simply - deeply offensive to mainstream America.

Under Obama, race relations in the US have not improved; rather, they have deteriorated dramatically.

Yes, one of the missiles that sinks Obama's boat will be deep-seated opposition to programs like ObamaCare. Yes, it will be his failure to focus on jobs. Yes, it will be his crashing, stunning deficit spending and debt accumulation.

But most of all, it will be governing from the "minority" position rather than as President of all the people. It will be his attempts to dismantle American traditions because they're seen - not as the best traditions in human history - but as "white".

And one sad legacy of Obama's prejudice will be that it might just be awhile before Americans trust that another member of a minority race can actually be the President of all the people - and not just minorities.

Well said, couldn't put it any better!!

Racism indeed has - great potential to sink elections.

Yours and your OP mentor's couldn't illustrate this point more clearly, as do your so-called party leaders who engage in their vindictive and unrelentng witch hunts for commies and terrorists within in their own ranks, not to mention election campaigns that rely heavily on stoking the fires of racial divide. Never mind the exemplary characters and careers of their respective targets have compelled voters to return them to Congress time and again via democratic process, or that they have achieved extraordinary excellence and demonstrable upward mobility in their chosen endeavors, as is the case with Huma Abedin.

Intolerance of diversity, refusal to compromise and prescribed priorities designed to unseat a duly-elected sitting president with reckless disregard for the consequences of ensuing Congressional gridlock are decidedly UNAmerican pursuits. Just ask GOP Rep Steve LaTourette, who handed over his unexpected resignation this week to long-time friend, Speaker John Boehner, because of his unwillingness to "hand over his wallet and voting card" to party extremists.

The extinction of an endangered species, though, at times, regrettable and typically avoidable, more often than not becomes inevitable. The last gasps of a dying breed can be really, really ugly. Such is the case with the kind of hateful racism being promoted here, arising out of partisan desperation to compensate for the failings of a weak candidate of THEIR choosing, and one even THEY are having a hard time getting behind....Karl Rove, Charles Krauthammer, John McCain, et al.

May the long-overdue demise of this particular breed of political animal be swift and irreversible.

Do you really think.... - (S/M)

[ In Reply To ..]
...that Obama has a "seething resentment" toward the ethnic history of the white woman and the white grandparents who raised him? Since you mention "race," "Black Panther," "white," and "minority" several times in your post, I take it you're talking about WHITE "American culture" that you think Obama resents so much(?).

I'm a white American, but I take issue with the characterization of "American culture" as formed by only the white race. Native Americans have more of a claim to this land than I do; and black slaves, though without power, were certainly instrumental in the building of many aspects of this country, including our revered White House. African Americans have formed the basis of a huge part of American entertainment with respect to music, dance, and sports, as well as contributing to civil rights for all.

Good grief--Obama has a seething resentment toward white culture? I disagree. He clearly loved his mother and her family dearly, and I would even say that those white folks in his life had a huge influence on him.

One other question: Who do you consider to be "mainstream America"?

I should have added.... - (S/M)

[ In Reply To ..]
....that Hispanics also play and have played a major role in the development of American culture. Besides the obvious Mexican food influences that are all around us--nearly every single day where I live--did you know that areas of southern California were actually settled first by Mexicans who welcomed white newcomers with open arms? I bet Spanish was the dominant language before English in those areas. It was actually THEIR land first; and now, a lot of southern Californians seem to resent that "they" are taking over.

Again, what exactly DO we consider to be "American culture"?

oh my goodness! Obama's prejudice? - lol

What a screed!

Do you know the meaning of the words you use? - Obviously NOT.

[ In Reply To ..]
Somewhere, somehow, you picked up the word "screed".

And you became, somehow, convinced that by labeling a post as a "screed" you would, merely by virtue of using the word, discredit the post.

You have so, so very much to learn about both written and oral forms of logical argumentation. Take a course.
A quick trip to the dictionary is all that's needed here. - sm
[ In Reply To ..]
something you should have done before taking this impotent swipe. The meaning of screed is short, sweet and to the point: A long speech or piece of writing, often considered tedious.

Though 272 words is not as verbose as other posts encountered here, its length and the predominance of polysyllabic words found within its text DOES, in fact, break all the rules cons have recently established on this forum regarding big words and paragraph count. Considering the expressed sentiments in the post, it would be logical to argue that, from their perspective, this is an epic ramble.

The OP is obviously of the opinion that it is also tedious. To say so is not necessarily meant to "discredit" the post just because you say so. Like your reply, it's simply an opinion.

In light of these facts (and in accordance with the expertise to which your arrogant admonishment lays claim) how does all this amount to the implicit deficit you seem to think the OP is displaying?

Kindly be specific. The integrity of your teaching credentials is at stake.
my vocabulary is vast, as is my capacity to wield it - sm...

If I had wanted to discredit the post I would have done so, but I tend not to engage with people who are so attached to their own bias. Instead, I posted my three-word opinion of the post.

If you really feel that mind-reading is your forte, I would encourage you to go for it, as logical argumentation doesn't appear to be in the cards.

Spending??? Debt??? - me

[ In Reply To ..]
Don't even get me started on this issue. President Clinton actually had the budget balanced and this country in the black when he left office. Good old Georgie Porgie destroyed that in a matter of months if not weeks. Now who was doing all the spending???

TRUTH! If it make us free, let it free us once and for all - from this pretender. nm

Neck-to-neck senate races that threaten to unseat - GOP darlings and

[ In Reply To ..]
and turn them into one-termers sure seem to bring out the cons' worst sides. As usual, the only way they know how to handle the situation is to attack and belittle their opponent, knowing full well the race cannot be won on the merits of issues. This is especially true in left-leaning blue states that produce centrist RINO DC contenders (both senatorial and presidential) whose pandering campaign policies and issues can barely be distinguished from their democratic counterparts. That they would base their attacks on cultural heritage and try to inflate them into another full-blown phoney Fox flap by conjuring up imaginary scandals is par for the course.

That may help to energize their ravenous winger base, who seem to have an inexhaustible supply of "otherness" angles, but beyond that extreme minority group, most voters realize that cultural pride is not restricted to angry white Anglo-Saxons. Whether that heritage is formally documented or passed down through generations of oral traditions is not the issue. Who the candidate is and how they self identify is.

I have Native American heritage I cannot prove that I became aware of the same way Warren did. The lack of doumentation did not stop me from reading everything I could get my hands on about the tribe, the customs, their place in our history and contributions to our culture, and their interactions with my Anglo ancestors. I have to say I took more pride in what I found on the NA side than I ever could in the European, and thus chose to internalize it. As a result, that ancestry, regardless of how remote, became a significant component of my identity. That process also gave me the capacity to understand how and why subsequent Native American generations became racial purists, and it troubles me that my choice to self identify that way is a such source of anger for them, albeit one I believe is totally justified.

Warren does not strike me as the type who would spend a whole lot of time trying to chase down geneology documents to satisfy the red herring musings of disaffected partisans, no more than President Obama would. She does strike me as a candidate who presents a formidable challenge to red dog Scottie Boy. Elizabeth Warren is yet another highly effective orator, whom I look forward to hearing speak at the DNC, and whom you have correctly identified as someone who can energize progressives, racial qualifiers notwithstanding.

I've never heard of a successful election outcome based mountain-out-of-molehill political strategies. Massachusetts will be sending the candidate who best represents their interests to DC. Judging from their election history and the fabric of their own political character, I'd say Warren just may end up sending Brown back home to Massachusetts, regardless of the cons' lynch mob mentality and their efforts to tar and feather her.

I hope they have Bernie Sanders speak on Citizens United. nm - VTMT

Where Is The Leadership?Oct 02, 2013
You can blame republicans or you can blame democrats or anyone you want but here is a very basic fact.  The president is supposed to be a LEADER.  That means his job is to LEAD with a steady hand, guide the congess to resolution and quell the turmoil.  This president is not providing leadership.   I say the blame starts at the top and flows from there.  One does not lead by simply saying "i will not negotiate" and walking away.  This president in failing in his most ...

Republican Congress Leadership To Skip Selma Anniversary EventMar 06, 2015
Scores of U.S. lawmakers are converging on tiny Selma, Alabama, for a large commemoration of a civil rights anniversary. US too dumb to know O is always right By MICHAEL GOODWIN Last Updated: 4:04 AM, July 13, 2011 Posted: 1:43 AM, July 13, 2011 When President Obama started talking at his news conference Monday, I listened intently for 15 minutes or so. I Did Something DumbNov 12, 2013
Okay, not as dumb in the scheme of dumb things a person can do, but here it goes. We have a very large freezer and buy things in bulk to save money. Often, we have to take stuff out in order to get to the item we want to defrost. In most cases, we remember to put all the stuff back that we took out, but every now and then, we forget something. This time, it was a 5-lb bag of sausage. It is commercially-bought sausage, so there are probably plenty of preservatives in there. Anyway, it was ...
