how much do you want to bet it won't be all over the news?

Bill had a great Talking Points memo last night and the night before. Oh, yeah, he has a heart for servicemen and their families....and yes, I watch him once in a while. DH really likes him.

Make that the March 29 and 30. - Backwards Typist

Keith Olbermann (who personally donated tens of thousands)and MSNBC helped sponsor all those free health clinics all over the country. Did you know about that? Rest my case.

Real heroes don't need their heroism bragged about for some PR stunt.

Yes, I heard about that. They are to be commended for that but - Backwards Typist

this is about a son killed in the line of duty and getting "slapped in the face" as the father stated, by his own country.

I even had KO on the night he talked and showed video of the clinics. I heard about it on NBC the next day, too.

I didn't see where they got 'slapped in the face'.

Sorry, BT, you lost me - I was referring to Bill O'Reilly - sm

and if he is helping for the noble reason, then I commend him. I think it is horrible what this father has had to go through, but I was offended by your remark about it not being all over the news -- does it need to be? Besides, of course the free clinic event was on NBC -- that is the parent company of MSNBC. But did you hear about it on Fox? Doubt it . . . . I'm sure Fox will be heavily covering Bill's generosity (as well as Billo the egomanic himself).
Didn't mean to offend you. I think all good deeds done by commentators should be - Backwards Typist

commended on the news. Like I said, I don't watch all the time, so I can't say for sure. Bill has a Pinhead and Patriot section and he may have said something there. Who knows?

I would take that bet.... - JTBB

As much as I don't like O'Reilly, he's doing a really good thing and should be commended.

Google "O'Reilly marine"
It looks like a ton of folks are picking up this story.

The one thing I don't like about this (and Keith Olberman is guilty of this too) is that he feels he has to televise his donation. My question is why. Both Bill and Keith have a history of excellent donations, and that is just awesome; but, to try to make news of it is, in my opinion, nothing but self gratification.

Bill mentioned it on his show. The ton of folks are - Backwards Typist

blog pages or whatever you want to call them.

I saw only one true newspaper picking up on it so far, but that's not to say they won't. Newspapers, but not TV.

I would love to see all personalities (except actors and actresses) be commended for what they do. That would be some good news posting. Why do I leave out actors and actresses? Because the media falls all over them when they do something good, but never people like Bill O and Keith O.

See my point?

Awesome SlippersFeb 04, 2010
I was "blessed" with wonderfully sweaty feet.  I wonder if I'm the only one whose feet can be ice cold and sweaty at the same time. Well, for Christmas, my MIL got me these Isotoner slippers that are kinda like short boots.  They let my feet breathe.  I raved so much about them, my SIL got me a different style of Isotoner slippers for my birthday last month (I turned 29.  Again.  Aw, who am I kidding, I should now be saying I turned 39, and that has happened five t ...

Something That Has Always Kinda Irked MeSep 29, 2012
is that some of the same people who complain about capitalism, like Michael Moore, are also some of the same people who became extremely rich because of capitalism.  Another thing that irks me is that the same people who say the rich should pay their fair share aren't voluntarily paying what they consider would be their fair share.  If it is so important for the top 1% or so to pay more in taxes, why don't they walk the walk instead of talk the talk?  There is NO law sta ...

My step-dad has two granddaughters, one of whom got married, the wedding literally was last evening.  The older of the two sisters planned and hosted the bridal shower for her sister.  My mom was invited.  The shower was to be hold at the older girl's house who lives in "the city."  My mom does not drive into the city.  She's nearly 70 and she does not drive outside of her comfort zone which consists of a 20 mile radius from her home.  Arrangements were ma ...

If so, what did you do to break these spells?  In the last few days I have had spells where my mind just goes completely blank and I sit here staring at the screen not knowing what to do.  It has been happening when I sit down to work and even in the middle of a report.  I will just sit here staring at the screen.  Sometimes when I look down it has been 15-20 minutes or more since I started a document and not a single line typed.  It scares me because I know it could be ...

Where Does Faith Come From?Oct 01, 2014
I am a 60-some-year-old woman who has no faith and no belief in God. I want to, I really do, but it's just not there. I went regularly to a Methodist church as a child, but not a particularly religious upbringing. I don't really remember what if any religious thoughts I had as a child. When I married, I converted to Catholicism simply because my husband was Catholic, though really in name only. We raised our two daughters as Catholic and they went to Catholic school and we att ...

How Do You Strengthen Your FaithDec 04, 2011
I hope this will not be long.  I just feel lost in my faith.  I grew up in a home where we gave thanks to the Lord, we were not getting on our knees every hour saying praise the Lord :-), but we said prayers at dinner, church and sunday school every week from time I could walk til graduation in high school.  Grandma was a sunday school teacher at an episcopalean church and played the organ/piano there, we went to Sunday church dinners and stuff like that.  Then around grade 5 ...

If You Are Approached By Someone Of A Different FaithAug 03, 2011
I was leaving for work this morning (it was mid-morning, I was goingin late as I had to wait for the gas company to come) and I saw 4 well-dressed people exit a car. I immediately guessed correctly what they were doing, they were going to go to knock on doors to share their sects magazines. They stopped me as I was walking through the parking lot and were very friendly, so I was friendly back to them. I went ahead and took their papers and didn't bother to say anything about not b ...

God Is Testing Me, My Faith?Jul 06, 2011
What do you think when someone that's going through something horrible says 'God is testing me, my faith'? It's one of the many reasons I doubt there's a God....if there were, and one is a believer, why should they be tested? Sounds like torment to me, and why would someone that loves his children torment them in such a way? Would God (if there is a God) be so insecure that he'd need constant proof of one's faith? I thought God knows everything? So wouldn ...

How Can I Strengthen My Faith?Dec 16, 2014
Without going into all the devastating facts of what Nuance is doing to its domestic workforce, suffice it to say that I am a victim of the latest pay downgrade and am losing faith that something better will come my way. I am not looking to discuss ways to find another job (at this point). I am looking for ways to improve, increase and strengthen my faith in the Lord. Faith BoosterJan 27, 2016
I am always encouraged by stories of answered prayer, so I want to share one so others can be encouraged, too. A couple of weeks ago, I stopped at the supermarket on my way home from walking the dog in the park.  When I came out of the store, my car would not start.  Of course, this was one of the few days my husband was able to get work and he was at least an hour away.  When I tried to call him, I got an automated message that I did not have enough minutes on my prepaid phone t ...

A Question For Faith CommunitySep 01, 2014
I haven't been to this board in a long while.  This is not of high importance, but it bothers me (feeling less than loved) and I'd like to know if that is understandable or if my feelings are wrong. Jeb Bush Justifies Actions By FaithMay 18, 2015
"...the ability to act on their core beliefs. that is what faith is about. The best of our faith...all faiths... is when people act on their core beliefs..or to do whatever they think is right based on their faith."  This is problematic.  Hitler? I'm sure J. Bush means well.  He just doesn't see this is problematic.  Hitler (I hope) is extreme, but anyone, anywhere can call up faith and belief as their justification for their actions.   I suspect  ...

This Woman's Faith Is Incredibly Inspiring Sep 30, 2015
Naghmeh Abedini came to my church on Monday night for a prayer service for her husband and other persecuted Christians around the world.  Her husband, Saeed Abedini, who is an American pastor, has been imprisoned in Iran on some trumped-up charges, but he really has been locked up for his Christian faith.  He has been there for just over 3 years now.  However, it is doubtful the Iranian government has any intention of letting him leave once his 8-year sentence is up because they h ...
