Losing faith

Posted: Jul 7, 2013

So many bad things are happening in my life right now including losing my home to foreclosure because of cuts in pay most MTs have experienced.  I feel helpless and hopeless.  I thought God would take care of his faithful children.  Ask and you shall receive.  Jesus came to earth so I might have a more abundant life.

So many people hurting I would like to help but I am unable to financially.  Just keeping my head barely above water and for the first time in my life I am depressed.

...other up, so I am praying for you. The future of so many is in question right now in ALL walks of life, not just transcription, and it IS scary! I know I am having to supplement my income doing transcription with money from my retirement account, and I am still WAY too young to do that (57 years old). I am so glad to have that money to fall back on right now, but I know that money won't last forever. I don't know what your religious beliefs are, but since I accepted the Lord as my savior, I know I always have a friend I can go to when I do get scared.

To encourage you... - Anon2

Sometimes when things get so overwhelming, it can be tempting to start questioning where God is in all of this and why isn't He helping. I know when my mind gets so busy with worry and stress and feelings of helplessness and hopelessness that sometimes the last person I think about going to is God. I imagine He doesn't care about me. But, I know better than that. This crazy messed up world will take you down, if you let it, and the only one more powerful than it, is God. I believe He is always in action, watching over His own. I don't think He misses anything that's happening to us. He knows what we're thinking and feeling. I think it grieves Him when we lose faith in Him, when we let difficult, trying times pull us away from His counsel, from His wisdom, knowledge and understanding. He knows you're hurting. He knows everything you're thinking and feeling. He knows your good heart and your desire to help others and how sad it makes you feel that you can't right now. He knows you. And you should know Him. He's your lifeline, your every breath and beat of your heart. He holds you every day in the palm of His hand. I know what it feels like to pray and pray about something, only to see nothing happen. But, it's much later on, sometimes months, maybe even years later when I've looked back and realized were it not for going through all of that, I may have missed out on being in this much better place now (not just physically, but maybe spiritually?) So, there could be a much more profound purpose behind all of this for you. But, that you will be blessed, I have no doubt. Just keep thanking Him from the depths of your heart for the smallest of things to the biggest. Keep the faith!

So Sad - I feel your pain

Somehow He will show up and get you through your trials. Just wait for Him. It is so not easy. God Bless your sweet heart and I will pray for you.

I do not believe that God takes care of everything. However, I do believe God will gives us the strength to endure.

So, maybe if you look at God more as someone who helps give you strength, rather than someone who takes care of everything, it might help. I think that's why your losing faith. God doesn't "do" things to us. Some people do it to themselves, or in your case, some things just happen. God also doesn't do things for us--he gives us the tools in our brain to figure that out.

Losing Faith - My opinion

God still is taking care of you, just maybe not exactly the way you want. We humans think we need so many more material things than we really need. I lost my transcription job in March (but pay had dropped over the years before that). Was in bankruptcy but could not make the payments so now in default of bankruptcy. I am renting a condo for me and my two kids. Sometimes I struggle to pay the bills. I have gone back to school online, partially because I don't qualify for unemployment and this helps with some income, plus gives me some hope for a future job. I have never had my electricity turned off, I have never been without food for my children, I have never lived out in the street. I consider all of these things to be God looking out for me. We don't need everything we want. Think of all the poor swollen bellied children starving in many countries. God loves them too, right? Why should we expect so much?

I so agree with what you say. Although I have not declared bankruptcy, I have about $50 to my name and go from paycheck to paycheck. I sometimes skip meals. I was once a highly-paid MT. Now my company has work only hit and miss. Still and all, I have a (rented) roof over my head and a kind family. All I ask of the Lord is the strength to endure. I heard a minister say once that when we get impatient about a problem we should say, "God is working on it." That has calmed me down a lot. God bless every MT in the world, believer and nonbeliever alike, who is going through this crazy time.

I am so sorry this is happening to you. I know where you are--I have been to the point of nearly declaring bankruptcy and sometimes I go without decent food for a couple of days right before my paycheck. But Jesus did not come to make it easy for us. He did not say he would take our troubles away. He said he would be with us IN our troubles. No matter how bad things get, I do know that He is there. I will keep you in prayer.

Losing My FriendMay 12, 2012
Last July I posted about my friend, Fran.   She had been taken to the hospital with an infection, then underwent open heart surgery followed by a long list of compications.  She had insulin dependent diabetes since she was five years of age.  Fran never made it home from the hospital, and spent many months in a nursing home.  Today I got the call that she died Friday morning.  Although I am thankful her suffering is at an end, I am feeling so empty and t ...

THIS IS WHAT DEMS LOSING LOOKS LIKEOct 04, 2012
They set themselves up to lose earlier this week b/c they knew that man-to-man, without the editing prowess of MSNBC and the networks, that their guy would lose big time....and he did. However, after debate - it's all good. "CNN poll must be way skewed," they said, "with way to many republicans in the poll."  Really - that's something CNN has never been guilty of before...why would they start now? Just take the loss, admit your guy is running on nothing and, therefore, had ...

royally flamed (some troll saying I did not lose my son).  Anyway, I had taken out a bank loan of $3000 to hire the first attorney that lied and cost me my son.  I actually got half that back and used that to hire this second attorney that I just now fired.  Why?  Because he has had a FULL month to do something (get us a court date, something) and he has done nothing.  I told him I am not going to pay him to do nothing, he has had a full month and done nothing, so yes I ...

Coffee Breaks Without Losing ProductivityOct 22, 2009
Thought I'd share -- I finally found a way to get a fresh cup of coffee in under 2 minutes (fingers not typing=no money)...  I found a great website that delivers single serve coffee makers & machines.  The machine brews in about 45 seconds, so I'm back at it faster.  What's even better, my 10-year-old can now make me a cup because it's so easy to use.  My 6 a.m. shift is a little easier now :) www.coffeemarvel.com   ...

Voting For Obama Is Like Losing Virginity?Oct 26, 2012
Wow...first it was vote like your lady parts depend on it and now we are losing our virginity when we vote for Obama.  Can democratic women think of anything besides their who-ninnies?  I find that much more offensive than binders of women.  At least those binders helped women get jobs.  Losing the V-card by voting for Obama is disturbing to say the least. If voting for Obama was like losing her virginity....her first time must have a big disappointment!  ...

Are You In Danger Of Losing Your House? Please Read For InfoJan 20, 2013
If you are not already aware of the TARP (Troubled Asset Relief Program), you might not know that you may be eligible for mortgage assistance.  I believe each state has been given the authority to administer their mortgage assistance programs under TARP as they see fit.  Each state may have a different specific name for their program.  Thank God, I qualified, and my mortgage, property taxes, and homeowners insurance are being paid monthly by this program.  It is, essentially ...

GOP In GRAVE Danger Of Losing House In 2014Oct 06, 2013
Just like the last election, the GOP resides in sort of a bubble, and they actually think the rest of us are with them, when we're not. Democrats Losing Moral Clarity On Israel...Jul 21, 2014
found interesting. They explain a lot about the generally negative view that American liberals have of Israel.... "But on the left, the Israeli-Arab dispute itself has been redefined. Liberals used to see the stakes with no illusions: A small Jewish democracy, an outpost of liberal Western values, was surrounded by brutal Arab dictatorships that denied its very right to exist. That moral clarity has eroded, partly because of facts on the ground over years of conflict — but ultimately throug ...

Where Does Faith Come From?Oct 01, 2014
I am a 60-some-year-old woman who has no faith and no belief in God. I want to, I really do, but it's just not there. I went regularly to a Methodist church as a child, but not a particularly religious upbringing. I don't really remember what if any religious thoughts I had as a child. When I married, I converted to Catholicism simply because my husband was Catholic, though really in name only. We raised our two daughters as Catholic and they went to Catholic school and we att ...

I think Jill should quit while she's still ahead with the $7.2 million in her pocket. I hope this will not be long.  I just feel lost in my faith.  I grew up in a home where we gave thanks to the Lord, we were not getting on our knees every hour saying praise the Lord :-), but we said prayers at dinner, church and sunday school every week from time I could walk til graduation in high school.  Grandma was a sunday school teacher at an episcopalean church and played the organ/piano there, we went to Sunday church dinners and stuff like that.  Then around grade 5 ...

God Is Testing Me, My Faith?Jul 06, 2011
What do you think when someone that's going through something horrible says 'God is testing me, my faith'? It's one of the many reasons I doubt there's a God....if there were, and one is a believer, why should they be tested? Sounds like torment to me, and why would someone that loves his children torment them in such a way? Would God (if there is a God) be so insecure that he'd need constant proof of one's faith?
