Feinstein, Reid, Boehner, Issa, etc. Remember this always:

Posted: Dec 10, 2014

The only real "transparency" involved in the stunt that Feinstein pulled yesterday is that you got to see the ugly underbelly of "politics".  The report itself is crap, and she and everyone else knows that it's crap.  It was "written" before the (cough!) "investigation" ever took place, and it was written entirely by Democrats WITHOUT INTERVIEWING A SINGLE INDIVIDUAL INVOLVED IN THE PRACTICES THEY WERE "INVESTIGATING"!!

In fact, they actually REFUSED to interview people who came forward and requested to be interviewed.  Now, people, if you can't see through that, you're blinder than Stevie Wonder.

There are three factors behind Feinstein's ugly dog-and-pony show:  She was enraged that the CIA apparently spied on some Senators - including her - and this was payback, pure and simple (yes, politicians can be and are petty, and perfectly willing to commit acts of utter mayhem to get even with their perceived "enemies" - you should never believe otherwise).

And, there's the little matter of political revenge for the midterm elections, which you must never underestimate.  I guarantee that if the Democrats had not lost control of the Senate, this report would not have been released to poison the climate for the next session of Congress.

Third, it's no coincidence that Feinstein hit the Senate floor at exactly the moment that Gruber was getting grilled in Issa's committee.  What can distract us from something like that?  Only a bigger distraction!

Anyone who buys Feinstein's high-sounding "motivations" for releasing this report should never be sent to town to buy milk, or entrusted with minding her baby sister for an hour.

And this fundamental reality (that politicians do POLITICS)  holds equally for Reid, Boehner, Schumer, McConnell, Issa, and the rest of them.  IGNORE what they SAY their "motivations" are and LOOK FOR THE POLITICAL REASON.

I mention Schumer as a great example.  Recently he came out with "regrets" about Obamacare, and immediately people jumped to the silly notion that he was having a stab of conscience for all the damage that Ocare has done - and will do a lot more of.

Read what he said with your new political eye, and you'll see that his "regrets" were not the result of some "Damascus road" enlightenment, but rather his REGRET WAS ABOUT THE POLITICAL FALLOUT FROM OBAMACARE THAT COST THE DEMOCRATS THE SENATE.  It's all right there in his full remarks if you care to look.

I'm just sayin'.  Doctors do doctor things.  Plumbers do plumber things.  Librarians do library things.  And politicians do political things.  Put that in your back pocket, and don't leave home without it.

The politics - get real

[ In Reply To ..]
They released the report because the Congressional session is over tomorrow. Had they waited, the Republicans would have blocked it when they take over in 2015.

Talk about being hypocritical about politics. The whole Gruber thing is about politics. Gruber is a nobody but the latest Republican scapegoat/distraction.

Please read, then comment. - I included Issa in my analysis.

...among other Republicans.

Incidentally, the Republicans could not have "blocked" the release of this report after the new session begins, so that doesn't wash in this case - and even if it were true it would only reinforce my point that the timing of this release was political, not for the ridiculous high-sounding, altruistic reasons floated by Feinstein for public consumption.

JFK assassination investigation blocked for 50 years - sm

[ In Reply To ..]
The new Republican Intelligence committee guy has already said he does not intend to pursue the torture. So, yes, it would have been blocked.
...and for 50 years only one party was in control of - the Senate?
[ In Reply To ..]
Believe me, there are a million ways that this report could have been released regardless of who was in control of the Senate.
Bush and Cheney should be prosecuted - sickened

[ In Reply To ..]
"the timing of this release was political"

Gee, if that were the case, wouldn't it have made more sense to release it, say, 6 weeks ago? You know, before the election?

Gruber helped write Obamacare. This is the guy - MT63

[ In Reply To ..]
that said you're too stupid to understand economics and how they had to obfuscate things in order to get Obamacare passed. This is the guy that said in order for the government to save money (welfare), we need to give poor people abortions. He called them "marginal" people.

I could go on and on. Scapegoat?

Gruber admitted that Obama lied, they knew it - would not control costs

[ In Reply To ..]
Infamous Obamacare architect Jonathan Gruber is on record: Told people not to read Obamacare, admitted he never knew how to control costs in the law, said he designed it by “throwing stuff at the wall” he delighted in taking pot shots at conservatives, he actually thanked congressional Democrats for voting against their constituents.

The world is upside down.

We're getting off my point here. This is not about Gruber - scumsucker though he may be.

[ In Reply To ..]
If Ocare were not systematically destroying the healthcare system (and doing much broader economic damage to the country), and if Ocare was a hit with the electorate, you can bet that Gruber's comments would be an unfortunate "footnote" in history, and Issa would not be chairing these hearings.

Politicians do politics. There are other threads for discussion of Gruber.
I was just trying to show that Gruber is not a scapegoat, - and we now have a law
[ In Reply To ..]
that we all have to live under based on a lie.

Guess we are too stupid to understand how - good this is...

I don't like any report that is one-sided. All involved should have been questioned and in an open hearing for all to hear (mainly us).

I am surprised at John McCain's take on this. I am quite sure he never wants anyone else to be tortured like he was when he was POW in Vietnam. However, I don't think that he should have taken this report as gospel and should demand that other people involved be questioned right now.

This is all politics and I for one am sick of playing politics. Our country was not created and laws not made, Constitution, Bill of Rights for people to just willy nilly keep trying to change them.

Our poor founding fathers must be rolling over in their graves to know all the things done in the name of the Constitution and their hard work trying to see to it that our government would be of and for the PEOPLE.

I agree - to a point.

[ In Reply To ..]
Some things with respect to intelligence matters simply can't be discussed in open hearings, and I think we can all understand that. I'm okay with intelligence matters being undisclosed to the public as long as there's proper oversight of the intelligence community's activities.

AND THAT'S EXACTLY WHAT THERE WAS IN THIS CASE! The administration jumped through all kinds of legal hoops and anyone in Congress with any intelligence responsibilities WERE consulted and/or notified of the agency's activities - contrary to Feinstein's lying claims yesterday. There are minutes of those meetings, including the list of those who attended them, among which names we find prominently listed - who? Why, the Honorable Ms. Feinstein herself.

I agree about McCain as well. No one in the intelligence community put any terrorists through anything like what McCain suffered as a POW, but he seems to have such a biased view of this subject that he's all but blind to the critical distinctions involved and incapable of rendering anything close to an objective analysis on this topic.

McCain earned the right to be "biased" - Not a Pub Chickenhawk

[ In Reply To ..]
I am sure the Republicans will DEMAND a new investigation--just like they have demanded multiple, multiple investigations on Benghazi.

Feinstein grandstanding - and relying on the short - memories of Americans.

[ In Reply To ..]
Stop for just a moment and ask yourself how this "report" would have been received in the weeks or even months after 9/11. Feinstein would have been physically chased off the Senate floor - by members of BOTH parties.

How quickly we forget!

Ms. Feinstein is even stating that BO is "too cautious" when it comes to ISIS. Don't believe Fox News? Ok, NBC and HuffPost are reporting it, too. Well, gee, I guess it's true then. That's what she is politely stating to the media. We can only imagine the real words she is using behind the scenes. This woman is no shrinking violet. ...

Dianne Feinstein Evidently Doesn't Know Much About Veterans Mar 09, 2013
She thinks PTSD started with the Iraq War. WRONG! She's old enough to know that this is a new NAME for battle fatigue, shell shock, and other names that commonly occurred in all wars with veterans. Does she really belong on an Intelligence Committee?????  She should do some research before trying to put all veterans in the mentally ill group. Heck, she doesn't even know what is considered an assault weapon, so hopefully, her bill won't see the light of day vote-wise. Watch h ...

Why Is Issa Refusing To Include All Gunrunning OpsJun 24, 2012
In an earlier post, the claim was made that looking at gunrunning operations during the Bush administration was "stupid" since everything went so smoothly under the Wide Receiver program.  Well then, if that’s the case, WR should stand up under close scrutiny just fine, shouldn't it?  The operative word here is "if."  The F&F operation was not conceived in a vacuum. The fact that gunrunning tactics were initially (mis)conceived in 2005-2006 is inescapable, as ...

Geithnerâs Fed Tried To Keep Sweet Deal For Banks A Secret: IssaJan 08, 2010
By Daniel TencerThursday, January 7th, 2010 -- 2:32 pm The controversy surrounding Treasury Secretary Tim Geithner's role in the 2008 Wall Street bailouts was ramped up Thursday with the revelation of emails that show the New York Federal Reserve -- then run by Geithner -- pressured insurance giant AIG to withhold information about payments the company made to its creditors. More Bad News For Issa. IRS Did Not Only "target"Jun 24, 2013
