Issa say Senate Republicans were drunk

Posted: Jan 1, 2013

I heard this interview on CNN an hour or so ago, but here's a link.

Issa didn't go as far as to say they were drunk, just a strong insinuation, but LaTourette did.

So I guess that's the new desperate strategy/talking point of the House... throwing your own party under the bus.

;

Oh brother - you're posting Think Progress? - Why not post National Enquirer

[ In Reply To ..]
Not much different.

Besides the key word here is "jokes".

Sorry, but it was the only place that - bootstraps

Had direct quotes from CNN. I don't think there's much spin, but even if there is, the quotes are true. I saw the interviews on CNN.

I just did a search to find documentation that the interview occurred that that's what I found

anyhow, I'll update as soon as a more mainstream is available.

WhyNot, Think Progress has a progressive orientation - but is respectable and dependable. You should

try reading it now and then to add other information and perspective. Not to change your mind, just get it humming along a little busier. :)

And check the credentials of its writers. Not exactly National Enquirer types.
Well I shall! But here's YouTube of interview - bootstraps

I like my mind to hum and be busy!! Thanks :-)

Issa threw in the jab, may have been joking, but I think he crossed the line.

Bootstraps, you ARE ranging. Suggestion was for WhyNot. - Issa was joking but likely while doing a pass play
[ In Reply To ..]
LaTourette. It's such a common smear maneuver. If successful, the bloggers and little attack dogs will grab the ball and run with it, adding the sort of conviction and virulence the congressmen can't get away with themselves.
somehow I feel like a young grasshopper today - bootstraps
[ In Reply To ..]
Didn't notice the WhyNot moniker. Silly me!! ;-)

LaTourette was the first to mention the drinking, so he was the quarterback.

At any rate, and joking or not, pretty low blow, very low.

It's like watching Fox. You want to know other viewpoints. - Fox does occasionally report valid points. nm

Yes they do, but we're talking about Think Progress - (i.e. natioanal enquirer material)

[ In Reply To ..]
and so are the minds that read them. Never will get any news from TP. Funny that TP is the same acronym as toilet paper. That's about all its good for too.
Closed minds have stopped learning. Just because - your favorite notions get challenged... nm

yeah, like "Tea Party." - NM
[ In Reply To ..]
.

Those who voted for that unprincipled thug probably feel they're - getting what they wanted. nm

of course they were drunk... - it was New Year's Eve

[ In Reply To ..]
and they were just celebrating what they wanted to anyway...getting something accomplished that was just totally wrong for the USA anyway, but surely benefitted them. Toast to that! Now where exactly are those moral police and values police when you need them?? surely not in OUR govt. Drunks, cheaters, and liars abound!

Hmm. I was just talking about you, and here you are. - Those are mostly elderly men still at work in

[ In Reply To ..]
the small hours of the morning after very long days. What you are suggesting didn't happen--before the vote at least. After, with an 89-8 victory for BOTH parties (only 3 dems and 5 pubs on the losing side), no doubt some of the 89 Senators might have felt like celebrating a bit, but I'm guessing most just wanted their beds.

And because they say it,,,it is true? come on - sm

If you trust the word of either party without proof positive your a huge part of the problem in this country

proof doesn't matter in this case - bootstraps

[ In Reply To ..]
Republicans Representatives are saying the only reason the Senate Republicans voted yes was because they were drunk. It doesn't matter whether they were or not, the point is their own party disrespected them.

According to Issa and LaTourette, what other reason could there be for Senate Republicans for voting for the bill? They were drunk!! If they weren't drunk then would have remembered that the Republicans are the Party of No.

oops....forgive anyone else for posting - on the Politics board

[ In Reply To ..]
this board apparently belongs to bootstraps and nobody else, as hers is the only opinion that matters! oh my!
wow - bootstraps

Seems to me bootstraps is trying to have a conversation here. Don't hate, participate.
participate in what? - the only opinion here that matters
[ In Reply To ..]
is bootstraps...she dominates EVERY "conversation" with her opinion and browbeats anyone who dares to disagree with her. That is not a conversation at all, but a dominatrix in disquise. Why even both expressing an opinion when it is always beat into the ground...no matter what it is, as long as it is not posted by one of her minions who happen to agree with her. She is not right on EVERY aspect, and some others have valid opinions but cannot voice them because they are not "credible" as in HER sources only. Schoolyard tactics at its worst. If she wants to be a politician....run for office!
A big fat "wah" to you. - Why don't you cry about it?
[ In Reply To ..]
WAH.
that's all you got? - how childish...point proven.
[ In Reply To ..]
nm
Childish is whining that people are meanies - b/c they don't agree with you.
[ In Reply To ..]
.
just plain nonsense - sm
[ In Reply To ..]
Just once I'd like to see you guys make some sense without resorting to childish silliness, voodoo logic, ad hominem attacks, or namecalling. The poster you have chosen to attack is respectful, constructive, can actually string two or more sentences together in a cogent fashion, and manages to make her points without lame character assassination or kidney punches. To accuse her of dominating the board is not only without merit, it just makes you look plain foolish. I think we're all into exchanging ideas and engaging in debate. If you are ill-equipped to engage, it's no one's fault but your own.
Exactly - grits

Interesting, isn't it, how when several people agree with bootstraps, they're her "minions," and yet when several people support a poster who holds the opposite viewpoint, they're oppressed free thinkers struggling to disseminate information?

US Senate Republicans Blocked The Veteran's HealthMay 21, 2014
And now they're blaming the President for this problem...I find it sad that they couldn't find room for this in their budget, but had no problem with the cost of the government shutdown. How much did THAT cost?   (Reuters) - U.S. Senate Republicans blocked legislation on Thursday that would have expanded federal healthcare and education programs for veterans, saying the $24 billion bill would bust the budget.   Even though the legislation cleared a procedural vote on T ...

Drunk Bus Driver Jan 08, 2010
Sorry if this is a repeat but I just saw it on the news yesterday because they did her sentencing.  She only got 90 days with 6 months of house arrest.  She was driving 37 kids on a school bus while she was drunk, all the while, the kids were pleading with her to stop.  She kept saying she was fine and they kept telling her she wasn't.  She finally did stop, and the older kids, showing an amazing amount of maturity, helped the smaller kids off the bus, then got off ...

Why Is Issa Refusing To Include All Gunrunning OpsJun 24, 2012
In an earlier post, the claim was made that looking at gunrunning operations during the Bush administration was "stupid" since everything went so smoothly under the Wide Receiver program.  Well then, if that’s the case, WR should stand up under close scrutiny just fine, shouldn't it?  The operative word here is "if."  The F&F operation was not conceived in a vacuum. The fact that gunrunning tactics were initially (mis)conceived in 2005-2006 is inescapable, as ...

Though his injuries are not life-threatening, it appears the transcript showdown with Committee on Oversight and Government Reform Ranking Member Elijah Cummings left him temporarily stunned into silence with a badly bruised ego.  Rumor has it he is determined to press forward with his quest to lay the IRS pseudoscandal at the White House threshold, despite having been exposed as a highly selective, info leaking cherry-picker who refused to reveal the full content of an official interview t ...

The only real "transparency" involved in the stunt that Feinstein pulled yesterday is that you got to see the ugly underbelly of "politics".  The report itself is crap, and she and everyone else knows that it's crap.  It was "written" before the (cough!) "investigation" ever took place, and it was written entirely by Democrats WITHOUT INTERVIEWING A SINGLE INDIVIDUAL INVOLVED IN THE PRACTICES THEY WERE "INVESTIGATING"!!   In fact, they actually REFUSED to interview peop ...

More Bad News For Issa. IRS Did Not Only "target"Jun 24, 2013
While we are left to speculate what it was in those interview transcripts disclosed last week that Issa was so intent on hiding (perhaps WH exoneration?), there is new information that casts further doubt on his White House connection theory.  Seems the IRS BOLO list (Be On the Lookout) included the key words "Occupy," "Progressive" and "Israel" and that the majority of those applications flagged for review were not Tea Party groups.  It would appear Issa's assumptions and basis f ...
