Okay. Read the bill now. Actually, that seems like it should fix it. - Wonder what could go wrong?
[ In Reply To ..]Okay. In my original post, I said: "There's now proof they're not interested in any compromise legislation to fix the problem. That bill is DOA as written and just more pretending to want to fix things. Same old GOP."
People asked why, and honestly those are great questions. Here's why I said that. I had originally thought the bill contained the verbiage the article does about DACA. Once I took care of some household things and had a chance to sit down and pull up the bill and read it, it does NOT contain that rhetoric I thought it did.
So, yes, you guys were absolutely right. It does appear that bill will give the Secretary/executive branch the authority to decide what to do with the kids on an expedited basis. It's a short bill that amends section 235 of the William Wilberforce Trafficking Victims Protection Reauthorization Act of 2008.
So what could go wrong, right? But this thing almost seems too good to be true, and watch the issue of money/funding muddy up what seems like it might be a decent fix.
