Is anyone following the story of the father who

Posted: Jun 29, 2014

At first I thought it was an unimaginable tragedy but as evidence comes out that the father searched computer on deaths of children left in hot cars it looks like he is guilty of murder.  He took the child to breakfast not very far from his work so it is hard to think he could forget him once he arrived at work.

Dad has to be a psycho who is dumb as a rock to do searches on a computer for children dying in hot cars knowing he would be investigated. There is also evidence (surveillance video) that he went to his car at noon. How could he miss the child then if it was an accident?  Was he checking on the progress of killing his child in the hot car?

There were 2 hot car deaths in the area close to where I live and both moms were working women with good jobs.  The deaths were found to be accidental.  I can't imagine living with myself if I had forgotten my child to die a horrible death in a hot car.  A lot of people gave these mothers a pass and say it could happen to anyone, but I disagree.

My question is have you ever forgotten your child and left them behind anywhere?

;

I believe the mother is behind it. how else could she stand - and talk at her sons funeral??

[ In Reply To ..]
I would be on a heap on the floor crying. And she said she wanted more children with this man?? Clearly she was the mastermind behind it.

Maybe they are both psychos - who would go along with that terrible plan

[ In Reply To ..]
I mean if they wanted to get rid of the child they could have chosen a death that was more humane. The agony that child had to undergo is horrible. Missing his father and trapped in a hot car alone. That is an ugly plan to do away with anyone.

The mother has to be nuts. - She supports the father

[ In Reply To ..]
Here is a statement she made. "Ross was and is a wonderful father," she said Saturday, to applause.

Even if this was an accident a "wonderful" father does not forget his child. And Ross is no longer a father, wonderful or otherwise.

There is no way I could forgive him and I certainly would not praise him for being a wonderful father after he killed the child on purpose or accidentally.

Happening in my town so get a lot of news on this - mother also researched how long

[ In Reply To ..]
it would take for child to die in a car. The funeral was yesterday and she stands by her husband. He called into the funeral from his jail cell and people in the audience actually gave him a round of applause. (Church in Alabama, think a Baptist). Thousands were in his corner at first, taking up a petition to release him until this information started coming out. I knew the police had to have something really determental. Get this- He worked at Home Depot in an office. He stopped and got breakfast for him and his kid on the way in- drove the short less than 2 miles to work, did not drop off the kid, did not leave out to pick up the kid and then got a few blocks down the street, drove into like a strip mall place, came out of the car and started wailing about his kid. The police state there is no way a person could have gotten in the car and not noticed immediately the stench from the dead body, said overwhelming as soon as they got there a few minutes later. He was arrested on the spot immediately.

She may be mentally unable to accept it - Like Lacy Peterson's family at first

[ In Reply To ..]
If a person appears normal and decent, I think there may be some mental disconnect as to the reality of a situation. Lacy Peterson's family was very supportive of her killer/husband until the police filled them in and they noticed his peculiar behavior. Also Jeffrey McDonald, the Green Beret doctor who killed his wife and kids, had support from his in-laws until they also noticed he was not acting like a normally devastated husband and father. This mother may not be able to think of her husband as anything but a good husband and father because to do otherwise would be to acknowledge that he is a monster and with that the guilt of letting him kill their son.

Wife also searched hot car deaths - maybe they are both psychos

[ In Reply To ..]
Could be they wanted attention and pity and it was a plan.

Some people make money from misfortune, like the woman whose grandchild who was severely attacked by 3 of grandfather's 10 pit bulls made up a story about KFC and raised big bucks from people who were outraged the child was allegedly asked to leave because of her appearance. Turns out the story was untrue and KFC reviewed surveillance tapes and hired a company to investigate. They were never in that KFC on that date and no employee interviewed admitted she asked the child to leave. Pitiful the child was put in harm's way at grandpa's mobile home with 10 pit bulls and then was used to raise money with a made-up story.

Some people will do anything for money and attention. It is a very sick world we live in.

I did not even read all of this thread. I'm so annoyed that people get away with forgetting their child in a car. Obviously, something else in their life is more important. If you are so busy you can't remember to keep your kid safe, then don't have kids. I have zero (I mean zero) sympathy for parents how are too busy to keep their kids safe. If you seriously can't afford to take care of your kid properly, don't have one. If you are too busy, busy to even consider your kids, then don't have them, period.

Good grief, the law is tougher on someone who leaves an animal in a car. That's what society has been reduced to. Kids are not valuable anymore.

and that being said - see msg

Did nobody in the parking lot see or hear the child?? I can imagine the toddler was crying being in distress from the heat.....

This story is so weird.

I am positive if the child had been seen or heard - someone would have notified

[ In Reply To ..]
someone in authority. The other day getting out of my car to go into store and I heard a dog start barking. Looked over, saw a couple getting out and approaching the store and watched them (and they were well aware of my eyeing them) as they went in. I had to pick up 2 or 3 items and knew if when I came back out the car should be moved otherwise I would call 911. The cars were parked side by side. One thing is the tox screen is not back yet so it is unknown whether the child could have been drugged, still waiting on that. No body in their right mind would see that and not report.

Maybe he didn't cry because he was already - sm

asleep? You know how many babies who won't go to sleep at home, will go to sleep when you put them in in their car seat in the car and start driving around? I could imagine that in that case, once the car was parked and the man left, if the baby was sleeping soundly, it never cried, and just never woke up.
They had just stopped a few minutes before that - went into a restaurant, ate breakfast
[ In Reply To ..]
and then drove less than 2 miles to the job site. The husband and wife both had researched on their computers how long a child could stay in a hot car before dying. Having said that, the father went out to the car around lunch, opened the door, put something inside (they have camera evidence of that) and then left to supposedly meet friends after work down the street. He had gone a few blocks, pulled into a sorta strip mall type business place, got out and started screaming about his son. He was immediately arrested and been in custody since. What the police said was the stench was so overcoming in the car when they arrived about 4 minutes after his stopping there is NO way you could not have noticed that. So he got in the car, the boy dead and already smelled of death and he drove down the street before stopping a few blocks away. The mother sounds like a nut case. Said she never thought to be upset with her husband, she would not want her child back now, he does not have to go thru school being an awkward child, etc. They sound like they plotted this child's death. Only time will tell though.
If the baby was in the car a day or less, how - could there be a "stench"?
[ In Reply To ..]
Doesn't it normally take longer than a day or so before a body starts to decompose?
This happened in my state, about 2 counties over and we - get news on a daily basis
[ In Reply To ..]
This is what was reported on the news about the stench. The day was about 88 degrees but temperature probably went over 100 if all windows rolled up, does not take long for that to happen. I know he was arrested immediately on the spot- he worked at Home Depot office and that was before any surveillence film could be reviewed or any computers could have been looked at. The police right from the start charged him with murder. I am only telling what we heard here on the news so apparently it must have been bad, police said no way could a normal person gotten into the car and driven anywhere much less down the street several blocks before realizing something was wrong. After his arrest then the police started searching at his office, his home computers, etc. People here were outraged thinking the police were hasty in arresting him and took up a petition of over 11,000 people asking that he be released from jail. All over Facebook people were taking up for the father, thousands voicing their opinions. As more information came out that petition was done away with. I told my husband the police had to know something bad- usually an arrest is not made right on the spot as they did him. I never joined in the debate going on here in Georgia because of the immediate arrest. I watch too much 48 hours and know a case sometimes takes months/years before an arrest to be sure the right person arrested.
in Georgia - see msg.
[ In Reply To ..]
I have to say...here in GA they arrest you for everything. They are very strict here. I live in GA and sometimes have to shake my head for what the police locks up!!

I am not defending the father, but I am also careful in what to believe.....we all know what the news media does just to get more people to watch their news channel/newspaper..etc.....
I hate for anyone to generalize on my state - because then others think
[ In Reply To ..]
we don't have a clue there. I don't know if you were born and raised here but so many think of Georgia as backwoodsy folks, not wearing shoes, living on a farm somewhere. What 1 person said below, the child probably soiled its pants (when you die, in case you didn't know, you lose control of both bowel and bladder) and there is no way the police would have arrested this father right on the spot had they not had information right then and there. As far as the police arresting you for anything here in Georgia, that is something you just thought up in your ow mind, far from the truth.
The odor of a body baked in a hot car prior - to decompensation would smell
[ In Reply To ..]
Plus the child must have soiled his diapers/underwear and bake that in the hot car 7-8 hours.

A LONG time ago (late '50s, early '60s), I was - see msg.

home from school with the flu, and my mom needed to run a quick errand. I had a fever and was too sick to leave at home, so my mom brought me with her. My mom, not knowing that auto A/
C is powered by a running engine, thought that if she left the air-conditioner on with the motor off, that it would still cool the car. It didn't, and luckily it was a quick trip to the fabric store and not a big shopping trip, because when she came out to the car I was nearly unconscious. Back in those days, people just didn't know those things, I guess.

But now it's always on the news, so there's really almost no excuse. I don't know all the details, but if he looked up hot car child deaths BEFORE this happened, it sure sounds suspicious.

Hot Car - cam

[ In Reply To ..]
The mother confessed that she looked up hot car temperatures also. I mean what do they get from looking it up? Obviously if it gets too hot your child dies. I think there is something fishy going on just my opinion. This just has a different feel to it than the others, not that he is a man, just feels different.

There was more than just - the fact

[ In Reply To ..]
that they both researched hot car deaths. Apparently the father's normal routine was to take the child to on-site daycare where he worked, then pick him up before going home. If that was his usual routine, it is very odd (and suspicious) that he would not just do what he always did every day. Hot car deaths more often happen when the routine is disrupted, for example when the parent taking the child to daycare is not the one who usually does it and just goes about his/her normal routine, forgets the child is in the car, and just goes on to work. If the normal routine was to take the child to daycare, that would be his default action. It seems very odd that he would just "forget" his normal routine on a hot day.

Also, if he always took the child to the daycare at his place of work and picked him up before going home, how does he explain just getting in the car and heading home without stopping at the daycare first? Again, if that was his normal routine, that would have been the default action.

I think there were also probably other anomalies in their stories that made the police suspect that this was done deliberately.

Update on the news this morning from my - state where child lived

[ In Reply To ..]
The father and child stopped to have breakfast on the way in that day and they went in the restaurant to eat. After eating breakfast to reach the daycare/office their route was timed and would have taken around 1 minute and 20 seconds.

Do We Really Need Mother's Day, Father's Day?May 10, 2015
Seems like Mother's Day, in particular, is a pretty sad day for lots of mothers whose kids have drifted away, and Father's Day is a pretty sad day for lots of kids whose fathers were missing or perhaps even unknown. Mothers and fathers all, presumably, have birthdays.  And there are other holidays like Christmas (or equivalents) when families exchange expressions of appreciation, etc. Seems to me that MD and FD have just become reminders of the disintegration of the family for a ...
