Depending on what station you watch, the debate was won by

Ryan or Biden...so that makes it a DRAW, not a win. Biden spoke for 42 minutes while Ryan spoke for 41.

I must say, Biden only had stumble tongue on a few answers but no gaffes. Biden got very angry with both Ryan AND Martha, wagging his finger at Martha quite a bit when she tried to get him to stop because he was going over his minutes. What was with the smiling, laughing, and smirking? He was also very rude during the debate by interrupting Ryan.  You don't do that.

Biden didn't talk about plans, budget or otherwise. Ryan did. Biden kept interrupting him, I think to try to shake him up so Ryan would make a mistake during his presentation. Didn't work.

Ryan stayed cool through the whole thing and I thought he gave good answers.

I think Ryan caught Biden off guard on the unemployment question when he asked Biden "Do you know what the unemployment figure is for Scranton, PA and for Janesville, WI? Ryan knew and even though Biden said he did, you could see in his face that he didn't.

BTW, what's this? Now Biden is saying he's from Scranton? The only time he acknowledges he's from Scranton is when he's campaigning for Obama and goes back there. He's always said he's from DE.

I think Martha did a decent job of trying to keep the debate civil. Some stations are saying she stopped Ryan's answers ahead of time while allowing Biden more leeway in time, but I thought she did okay. She tried to stop Biden as best she could but he just thought he could ignore the rules.

At the end, Ryan thanked Martha and shook her hand. Biden didn't. Was he mad at her? I think so.

And I'm paraphrasing..... If someone read a transcript of the debate, it was a tie. If someone listened on the radio, Biden won. If someone watched it on television, Biden lost.

I thought Ryan held his own, which was difficult given how obnoxious Biden was being. I have a feeling that Biden had been instructed to overtalk him every chance he could, which he he did brilliantly, though I don't think it served him well.

I wish Ryan had pegged been stronger than he was on a few things, like Afghanistan, where they're shooting our guys in the back. Too often he let Biden get by with dazzling them with doo-doo.

For all his gaffes, I usually like Joe, but last night I couldn't get past the guaffawing buffoon.

All in all, Ryan did a good job. He put the information out there, was succinct about it and maintained his composure.

...but fact checking shows Ryan was not truthful. - nm

Interesting Checking On Syria And Iran Building A Naval StationOct 23, 2012
All the pundits, news bloggers, etc. are making fun of Romney's comment on Iran and Syria. I was curious, so looked up a map of the Syria and the relationship between Syria and Iran. It sits on the Mediterranean Sea. So, no problem with Iran building a naval station in Syria. It gives Iran 2 ways to get to the open ocean and since Iran and Syria are bestest buddies, it makes sense. It would also give Iran and Syria access to missles being able to hit our allies since Iran's missles wo ...

My Take On The Debate. SmOct 14, 2015
I was struck last night by the huge difference in what we can infer about the nature of Bernie's and Hillary's thought processes while they were processing the challenging questions that Anderson Cooper threw out at them individually. Hillary's demeanor reminded me of one of those canned Miss America Pageant contestant types whom you can tell is so focused on searching her memory bank for a previously stored 'good answer' that the importance of the issue itself was tota ...

Diaper Debate...Sep 17, 2011
Okay, so here it is. I have a very good friend who is expecting. She wants to start buying diapers now so she has a few packs/boxes to start with when the baby arrives. Sh ...

How To Debate The DonaldAug 03, 2015
This article is amusing. I would hope there is a lot of practice going on for other Republicans on how not to let him get under their skin. They should refuse to answer him directly (which I don't think they are supposed to anyway) and calmly present their perspective, no matter how wild his responses and answers are. If possible, they should ignore him and pretend he has not spoken at all. I particularly liked this reference-- "Other than a dart gun?," he said. "A tranquilizer gun ...
