Democrats Like a Romney Idea on Income Tax
Posted: Nov 14, 2012
One that was "ridiculed" by Obama.
"The proposal by Mr. Romney, the Republican presidential nominee, was envisioned to help pay for an across-the-board income tax cut, a move ridiculed by President Obama as window dressing to a “sketchy deal.” But many Democrats now see it as an important element of a potential deficit reduction agreement — and one they can claim to be bipartisan."

Now THAT is sketchy!!!!
Oh please. It was a major 2008 election topic - that was discussed at length

during the primaries between President Obama and then Senator Clinton and during the general election campaign between him and John McCain. Obama clearly stated it was one of his four priorities. It was rigorously debated in both the House and Senate for one solid year and reported in every corner media. There was nothing sketchy about it.
Not so....sm - Old Woman

The full details of the healthcare bill was not known until after it was passed. I believe there is a lot in those nearly 3000 pages that we still don't know about and won't until they come to fruition. THAT is what I meant by sketchy.
Romney had a lot of good ideas. - -

So congrats. You win across the board. IF the White House and Congress compromise on a plan that wouldn't dump the whole bill on the middle class.

Romney could not go in full detail of is plans because Obama would copy it for himself. ObamaGod watches, takes input, and learns behavior and copies and soaks it in like sponge for his own benefit.

palpable anger in yesterday's press conference toward the McCain/Graham lynch mob mentality brought his "admiration" of those two into clear focus, once he had reaffirmed his 51% middle class mandate (after 4% of the voters voluntarily migrated over to 47% moocher territory to claim political asylum). Meanwhile, Romney was launching another attack on diversity and middle class they-want-stuff voters in another fundraiser conference communique, which no amount of spin can transform into a campaign strategy, now that he's lost the election.
your understanding of the proposal is as comprehensive as - Romney's

The "basket" was ridiculed, not the idea of capping deductions - on high income taxpayers.
[ In Reply To ..]
What was worthy of ridicule was the cloak Romney threw over the basket to shroud its contents in secrecy, especially since it was among many other of his "trust me" policies. That's why President Obama SPECIFIED "sketchy deal" in his statement.
Besides, deduction caps on high adjusted gross income filers are nothing new. They were first introduced by Rep Don Pease D-Ohio, who served from 1977 to 1993. The Pease Amendment was incorporated into the Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act of 1990. Another tidbit Candidate Romney kept under his hat while trying to take credit for a 22-year-old concept. Naturally, they were repealed by the GOP in the so-called Economic Growth and Tax Relief Act of 2001.
