I have a REALLY radical idea! How about NO

Posted: Mar 16, 2010

more name calling, personal insults and the like in response to posts!!!! It is childish, silly and makes it miserable for everyone else here on the board.  I get on here some days and scan just the subject lines and am just floored!  How about WE ALL grow up and act like adults and refrain from the above.  No more responding with one-liners, insults about intelligence or sarcasm just because we disagree with someone else.  Frankly, this forum has sunk pretty low due to posts from the majority of the people on here.

I agree - just me/hmmm

I frequent the board less and less because of the reasons you stated. It has become more of an argument and name calling board than one where we can get info.

That's because one person's "info" is another person's propaganda. Works bo - Not going to change

This is not a good place to get "info."

We can still address each other like adults - Colleen

and just agree to disagree sometimes. It can be done. If it can't, and we are what we are seeing across the country, then none of us have any hope or any real future, because no one is going to get along with this kind of discourse. Maybe it just comes down what our moms taught us-"If you can't say anything nice, then don't say anything at all."
Colleen, I think that everyone is especially testy this ....sm - oldtimer

week with the healthcare bill finally coming to a vote, the Dems praying they have enough votes to pass something of consequence, the Pubs hoping it will fail.....very ugly all around, and I can only hope that what is passed is not so watered down that the insurance companies benefit further and/or some restrictive language is contested as being unconstitutional. Like I said, everyone is on edge.
But a lot of folks just like to stir the pot then sit back and watch and laugh, too. - SM

That's more likely the case in most instances here. Someone getting their jollies by riling up the others. That's why I say this is not the place to get "info." The old adage about not discussing politics in polite company predates this board and obviously still holds true. If someone is offended by the "quality" of the discussions here (and I used quality in the loosest sense of that word, obviously), the only sane thing is to stop visiting.
I agree. Just seems like it has been especially - Colleen

bad lately, like in the last couple of months. I remember at one point posting a cartoon, and not an offensive one, and I was immediately surrounded, called all sorts of names ranging from ignorant, stupid, crazy-it was all over the place.

BTW, I think this bill is worthless if it does not have a public option or something along that line. I hate the idea of starting over as so many people are suffering while we wait, but this bill as I understand it is pretty much pointless. I am getting pretty disgusted with the whole process now so I understand being testy. This has just been going on for awhile and it seems to have picked up steam and has grown into some really out of line hatred. Would like to be able to state an opinion without my intelligence, my values, and in one case, my husband being insulted. Anyway, maybe it will get better.

Me too! Seems sometimes like there is nothing - Colleen

I can post that does not get an instant insult or being called a name. This board has become nothing more than a place to say horrible things to each other and nothing more. We are ALL guilty of it. Time to grow up.

Is The President Mentally Ill Or Is He A Radical?Oct 10, 2013
Why is this president so Radical! Taking a page out of Saul Alinsky‘s “Rules for Radicals,” the plan is to maximize the people’s pain — to maximize the political damage to the enemy, the Republican Party. What else explains it? Here are just some of the tactics and rules set by Alinsky that Obama, Pelosi and Reid go by. They all must keep copies of Rules for Radicals in their desks. If you ever read Rules For Radicals it's like reading the handbook that they must read. The ...

The Democrats' Rising Star. A Look At The RadicalJul 29, 2017
As House and Senate Democrats press forward with their quest to destroy Donald Trump's presidency by any means necessary, they are simultaneously focused on finding someone in their ranks who could be an effective presidential candidate for their own party in 2020. Fifty-three-year-old Kamala Harris, who served as the Attorney General of California from 2011-16 and then filled the vacant U.S. Senate seat that had been occupied for a quarter-century by Barbara Boxer, is someone whom they wil ...

Comparing Tea Party Movement To Radical LeftMar 08, 2010
Article by David Brooks thought provoking.  He presents a compelling argument that the tea partiers are copying the same tactics as the  70s radicals.  Like anyone thought the conservatives could come up with anything new or different . . . although now that dick armey has praised Alinsky, those one-note posters here will need to put a new string on their violin playing "oh the country is being destroyed by the liberals."  To read article just google his name- it is ...

We love poor people, the radical right says. We don't want you to have healthcare. We don't want you to be able to vote (because you people always vote Democrat) We don't want you to make more money (not going to raise minimum wages) We don't want your children to have food to eat or have quality education. Radical Left Oregon Official Who Fined Christian Bakery Into ShuttingNov 15, 2016
Commissioner of the Oregon Bureau of Labor and Industries Brad Avakian gained infamy when he fined a Christian bakery with $135,000 for refusing to bake a wedding cake for a lesbian couple. The owners of the bakery, Aaron and Melissa Klein, turned down baking a cake to a lesbian couple as it would violate their Christian beliefs. Avakian claimed that the Klein’s refusal to bake the cake were not protected under the 1st Amendment, and labeled it illegal discrimination. The Klein’s were for ...

Saw A Neat IdeaMay 31, 2013
We often talk about what should the kids do while you're working. I saw the neatest idea in a Heloise column. The person said to take raw rice, place it in a bin of sorts (I'm thinking dishpan), and get a toy shovel and pail and other "beach" items. It gave instructions on how to dye the rice pretty colors, but I don't remember those instructions. Anyway, it sounds like something a 2 to 4year-old would totally enjoy. Little kids love to fill things up, dump them, fill them up aga ...

Democrats Like A Romney Idea On Income TaxNov 14, 2012

Anyone Have An Idea How To Wear Glasses With A Nose Injury?Oct 20, 2010
Yesterday, my husband was grinding the rust off a metal lawn mower deck. The grinder caught on a piece of metal and in a flash, bouced up, hit his safety goggles and knocked them and his glasses to the top of his head and took a little chunk from the side of his nose (thankfully did not hit his eye) right where the nose piece sits about 1 inch, plus gave him 'road rash' on the tip. He's having trouble wearing his glasses. We have tried everything we can think of to make ...
