The Truth Behind the Unemployment Rate

Did you know that the way the government makes the unemployment rate go down is by removing the total number of people from the work force?

The unemployment rate is a sham and a lie.

The Bureau of Labor Statistics simply removes unemployed people from the unemployment calculation.

If you stop looking for work completely – if you just give up – the BLS doesn’t count you in the unemployment rate.

If there are 1,000,000 people in the work force and 100,000 out of work, the unemployment rate is 10%.

If there are 1,000,000 people in the work force and 90,000 out of work, the unemployment rate goes down to 9%.

But what if the number of people out of work is the same? What if the government just stopped counting 10,000 people because they had given up looking?

That’s exactly what is happening.

Must be Obama's fault. Must be they changed the way they count unemployed people since the Democrats took over, it was counted correct under Bush. Obama told them to lie, steal and send all jobs overseas.

Once again, it must be Obama's fault the sky is blue today.

Bush doesn't have anything to do with it. We're talking about what's going in in the country in the present day.

Nobody said it was counted correct under Bush.

P.S. - If Obama made the sky blue isn't that a good thing? I love blue skies. However, nobody ever blamed Obama for things that are not his fault. Nobody ever blamed him for the color of the sky or spilling a soda, not finishing a hot dog, or socks from the dryer missing. We're trying to keep it real here and just trying to stick with the facts here.

Oh and the jobs overseas, well we can thank Billy for that (NAFTA)
