Answer me this.....

Posted: Dec 20, 2009

What do YOU think is the USA's greatest problem today?  We all know that we're in trouble, but in total honesty, what do YOU see as the biggest problem?

Secondly, do you have any idea how to correct it?

Slams/bams/etc. most probably will not get a response here.  In fact, I would prefer that they did not.

Thanks for any participation!

The situation in the middle east is horrendous. We have active troups in Iraq and Afghanistan, and Iran is becoming a nuclear threat.

Iraq was a sad situation before our meddling, but the threat was contained within its borders. Afghanistan, Pakistan and Iran are different stories and have worldwide implications.

I wish I knew the answer. The middle east has been a conundrum for decades. I do not want to live to see Armageddon.

I believe the biggest problem we face is the lack of cooperation in Washington. The president's enemies are more focused on regaining power than working together to find solutions. If they would work together for the good of the country, a lot of progress could be made on ALL of our problems. Without it, we are just spinning our wheels as the problems fester.

They don't make it a secret that they want Obama to fail. (sm) - Nikki

So they do everything in their power to obstruct in order to aid in his failure.

They don't even bother to hide this fact.

Just as it was done to Bush by the left, completely in the open and (sm) - Sick of it all

still trying to blame him for things today even though he has been out of office for a year. Trust me, I am no Bush fan by any means, voted against him twice. My point is that party lines need to be forgotten in times like these and "these people" in Washington need to work together for what is best FOR THE PEOPLE. Unfortunately I see no progress made in this country until this happens.
Gotta admit, all good ideas! :) nm - sigh

Question With Probably No AnswerMar 22, 2012
no answer that hasn't already been mentioned here at one time or another."When I am elected," so saith Mitt, "the first thing I'll do is repeal the National Health Care law.""When I am elected," also saith the Mitt, "I'll cancel Planned Parenthood." First on health care---how can one person do that? Would he not need Congressional approval? Last time I looked, the President executed the law; the President is not empowered to repeal the law.On Planned Parenthood two questions: ...

God Does Answer Our Prayers. Jun 02, 2012
I posted on Gab board about being estranged from my daughter.  We have not talked to each other for about 6 weeks.  I noticed that her personality has changed -- going from being a happy and kind-spirited girl to being very angry and short-tempered all the time.  I was staying at her home to help with her children and with housework while she worked full-time.  Because of her bad temper and constant yelling and screaming at children, I could not stay any longer.  She jus ...

Answer Me This, ChristiansOct 25, 2013
Okay, so I just heard on the news that some food server who was gay was not given a tip by the customer because he was gay. The customer left a note to the effect that they could not leave a tip, because the waiter, what with being gay, was an affront to God. The customer did say the service was fine, but he could not leave a tip due to the server being gay. Answer me this you Christians. Was that Christian of the customer? We've had discussions here where gays are told they will go to h ...

Question And AnswerJun 01, 2014
My husband comes to me and makes a statement (i.e. "I'm going to take a shower now") and gets miffed that I don't "answer" him.  It is a statement, not a question.  If he had said "Do you need in the bathroom; if not, I am going to take a shower now," I would have answered yes or no.  Is he wanting my permission?  I am just not sure how to respond when he makes statements and waits on me to ......... what? His other manner of speaking is to make the statement and t ...

I Seem To Have Gotten An Answer To My QuestionDec 01, 2015
I think this is the answer to my wondering about making up the years of the locust. Seemed to pop out at me and came to be my accident. 2 Peter 3:9 The Lord isn't really being slow about his promise, as some people think. No, he is being patient for your sake. He does not want anyone to be destroyed, but wants everyone to repent. ...

Trump goes on a tweet storm blaming the democrats for wanting to shut the government down so you and I can't go to national parks because they won't agree to a spending bill.  The democrats don't want to pass a spending bill until they see his taxes and how he would benefit from any bill they put out.   Well that's a no brainer, show the taxes. ...

I didn’t want the answers buried because the original post is pretty far down the page.   You don't HAVE to take the compensatory option. You volunteer for it. If you want your OT paid in cash the week you work it, then so be it.   You said: "One other thing I'm not finding or maybe it's there and I don't understand the legal jargon: Is the OT that is converted into PTO time and a half? Do I get a half hour extra for every hour of OT?"   Yes, that&# ...

What Is The Answer To Handling ISIS?Sep 16, 2014
I've read a lot of bickering about this topic and yet I have yet to see someone give an answer or at least a good suggestion of what to do.   We never should have gotten rid of Saddam Hussein.  Yes...he was a dictator and treated his people poorly but he also kept extremists like ISIS out of Iraq.  We went in and got rid of Hussein and the extremists have taken over that country.  We got rid of Bin Laden and that hasn't stopped the craziness.  We got rid of Mu ...

Wrote below about office calling in 4 different medications I do not take at present, did not ask for including inhaler, steroid cream, arthritic cream, an anti-inflammatory. I went to the office this morning, told the doctor ordered, asked to talk to office manager, too busy and then nurse came by and was told she ordered. I was told by the nurse, "if you don't want them, just leave them, don't pay for them." I thought perhaps I had by mistake been called in another person's meds ...

In Answer To Gov't Wondering's Question: I MovedFeb 01, 2012
A system that does away with our antiquated, divisive, polarizing party system. A voting system that works by popular vote, NOT the rigged Electoral College.A government where decisions are not made by the amount of money thrown at them by corporations and special interest groups. Election years where John Q. Public is NOT bombarded with mudslinging, misleading TV ads. Each candidate would be allowed ONE TV ad, and there would be a cap (and a fairly low one, at that) on how much they could spend ...

How Do You Answer A Nosy Friend's Questions?May 13, 2015
I have a very dear friend of nearly 40 years and I have not one thing negative to say about her except that she asks what I think are inappropriate questions. For example, without fail, she will always ask the price of a big ticket item. She doesn't broadcast the news, she just wants to know for whatever reason. I am getting together with her soon and know she will ask the price of something BIG that I bought. She has no idea how long I saved and what I sacrificed to do this. Does anyone ha ...

A Question We All Can Answer. Say Trump Releases His Taxes BeforeSep 16, 2016

Possible Alternative Answer To Food Stamp FraudMay 17, 2015
Well, unable to get to church due to a knee joint flare (not mine) and playing nurse, I noticed others were asking below for alternative solutions to food stamp fraud other than Scott Walker's expensive and absurd plan to overhaul the EBT system to restrict types of food and drug test recipients.  So how about this? Ask the food stamp recipients to turn in their monthly grocery receipts to their caseworker for review.  Give them 3 strikes or they're out.  Not only does ...

Mitt Romney's Answer To The Question About Automatic Weapons:Oct 18, 2012
In spite of Governor Romney's mistake in thinking automatic weapons are illegal in the U.S., I was more interested in a more rambling answer about single mothers. At least for those of the subgroup of the subgroup of that subgroup who aren't surrounded with good supportive families but are rather living all alone in poverty and are livin ...

The Washington Post's "Pinocchio Test": Marc Rubio Earned 4 For His Iraq AnswerMay 19, 2015
The Washington Post delivers a "Pinocchio Test" every time a candidate says something that is not based on fact that's interesting to follow.  The reason it is a rating scale is because they check what they said for fact and it's a ranged scale, from 1 to 4, based on everything from possible misinterpretations and selective truth-telling to outright falsehoods. Here's the scale: http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/fact-checker/about-the-fact-checker/ Apparently, Marc Rubio ...
