Deal emerging...It just says that as a 1-sentence news alert on the Senate C-SPAN. Wonder what the amount is going to be, who gave up, what is being dropped, what is being added, etc.

I'm hoping the tax rates will be the highest number so it doesn't hurt the small businesses.

a RAISE to begin in March. Is that because it will put some Congressmen over the top for the higher tax rate or is he being an absolutely buffoon about the debt and deficit? Does he really understand WHO pays the salaries of Congress or does he think all he has to do is wave a magic wand and the money will appear?

Sorry, but I doubt Obama really gives a d____ about our deficit and debt problems and just wants to dig the hole so deep we'll never get out.

I spend most of my day reading newspapers, going on Thomas Law Library and watching CSpan and what I hear from the democratic side isn't very pretty.

You know darn well that the Democrats refuse to work with Republicans on spending cuts.

You also know that Obama has never had a good word to say about anyone on the Republican side since day 1 of his presidency.

When Obama was a Senator and then campaigned for President, everything he stood for and everything he campaigned on, is the direct OPPOSITE of what he's done. Just watch the videos.

You also know that the House Republicans have sent a lot of bills dealing with spending, jobs, the economy, etc., to the Senate only to have Reid kill them without so much as a debate or reason why he won't bring them to a debate and/or vote except that they came from the Republican House. Hate...hate...hate from Reid. You want proof of his hateful remarks, just go to Youtube and/or CSpan. You'll see plenty, but you just want to ignore it as if they didn't exist.

You refuse to acknowledge that the "fiscal cliff" problems were in the works for 2 years, yet the Democrats kept ignoring these facts until DECEMBER 2012, and now rushed legislation through, yet still didn't make the deadline. Where's the spending cuts in the legislation they just passed? I don't see any. I see juggling again - taking money "from Peter to pay Paul" as usual. Just look at it. Extending UE isn't paid for at all; the "doc fix" is paid for by taking money from other providers...which means higher health care costs for everyone. That's just 2 items that don't make sense. It's just juggling.

Obama ignored Simpson-Bowles and the Super Committee suggestions and plans because they didn't like the spending cuts.

Lastly, you also know that the democrats have had control of the Senate since 2006, but don't take any blame for the economy going down the tubes like it did, and Obama did blame Bush for 4 years.

Maybe if you would start learning what's real and what's just spiel, you'd learn a little bit more about the workings of this government and be able to tell truth from consequences.

Just watch the videos? The videos where he DOES the EXACT opposite? There is a difference between truth and interpretation. I wouldn't dream of trying to talk you out of your opinion. I would, however, hope you would discern the difference between fact and opinion, truth and interpretation.

What I heard was that Dems are going to raise the tax rate hike to $400,000, but until the ink is dry, no one is making a premature speculation... at least on the network I am tuned into.

It's a 0.5% raise for all federal employees after - their pay freeze expired.

BTW, none of the pols raises will get them anywhere near the $250,000 mark the GOP is refusing to accept. IMO, those folks need an emergency crash course on how VOTERS define middle class. Most studies I've read say the cut-off annual income figure is more like $100,000.

Fiscal cliff passes in the middle of the night. Spending cuts are nil while spending adds another $4 trillion over the next 9 years?

We are having trouble making payments now and interest alone costs over a trillion a year. How do YOU expect to dig out of this hole?

The fiscal cliff passed in the middle of the night because the legislation expired at midnight.

Some of the spending cuts have been compromised away.

I expect to dig out of this hole by hard work and fiscal clarity.

Let us know when you see fit to be accountable for your assessment that "Obama...WANTS TO dig the hole so deep we'll never get out". Until then, just say anything.
